Tattered reality, stitched Anew

Summary:

It’s the end of another neutral route, Flowey is getting tired of this little ‘game’ but this time- after thousands of resets Clover decided they should do something new.

On the other end of the spectrum, a very amalgamated version of frisks looks over the once pristine city of monsters witnessing a cruelty they’re all too familiar with…

Chapter 1: You and I, along with what’s left of our worlds.

Chapter Text

They were here again, again again again again.

Flowey groaned in displeasure watching the scene, that fool- that MORON Clover!~

Standing next to their precious little bird! Asking to be roommates!

They’re so naive, they’re so weak ,  no resolve at all! They’ll quit, they’ll follow and they’ll have to force lil’ ol’ Flowey to step in and FINISH THE JOB.

Flowey sighed, oh~ oh~ oh~ what were they gonna do with this trainwreck of a pawn?

He watched the show unfold, like many times before, over and over and over, atleast their suffering from Martlet’s death never became boring!!~

… He should pay attention for now, can’t miss his que now.

Martlet folded her wings together and avoided Clover’s gaze

“I’m not certain this is the right decision.“

Her eyes narrowed as her wing hands clasped together tightly, the wind moving over them like a wave.

“but.“

Her gaze softened, she held out her wings open to Clover with a smile on her beak.

“Let’s… put all of this behind us and end the conflict.“

She crouched down to get to Clover’s level, warm and inviting.

“You can come stay with me. Live out a violence-free childhood!“

She looked remorseful for a moment, almost apologetic.

“You have gone through so much, more than any child should.“

She extended her arms as far as she could, determination pouring into her smiling expression along with the gentle care for the human.

“I believe you can change for the better, what do you say?”

Flowey couldn’t help but roll his eyes, Just get on with it already! MAN it wasn’t this hard just to get through a stupid monologue and for the naive cowboy to agre—

<Thank you for the offer Martlet.>

Clover smiled sheepishly, waving their hands a little dismissively.

<but I can’t possibly agree after all you’ve done, please. . .>

They looked away and smiled with a sense of grief, tugging at their sleeve.

<. . . I- I understand if you can’t watch me do this but… I’ve gone too far, I can’t abandon my mission here.>

Martlet’s smile fell, wings lowering at the unexpected outcome.

Unexpected was the understatement of the year though, after countless resets now.. NOW FINALLY! They’re gonna go through with it!!!

Martlet recollected herself and tried to keep smiling, to keep being optimistic about the situation ahead.

“T-that’s alright! I understand this… you coming here… it was for a reason wasn’t it?”

She looked like she was at the brink of tears from the reaction, she approached Clover and reached out her wings, one final hug between the two occurred.

A melancholic yet comforting moment between two friends despite all odds.

“I’m sorry I can’t help you any further…”

She pulled away, looking Clover in the eyes.

“Go. Deliver your justice alright? If you ever change your mind you’re… welcome to come back to snowdin and stay with me.”

Martlet let go of Clover and hurried down and away back into hotland, Clover stood there for a moment.

Frozen and firm like an immovable object before slowly trudging to the ledge, leaning on it and looking into the core.

Flowey decided to burrow down into the ground and pop up just besides them.

His time to shine~

“So, it’s finally time huh? We’re almost at the end and it’s just back to you and me!~”

Clover hummed affirmatively, not much of a verbal answer as Flowey had long grown to expect.

“What are you planning now huh? Go straight to asgore? Gain more LV? Do tell! We’re partners here after all.”

Clover sighed, pushing them self off of the ledge and taking a few steps away back to the exit.

<I was thinking of one thing, I need to enact a little justice before I reach Asgore.>

Flowey felt somewhat of a shiver go down his root, suddenly Clover had become… unreadable, they’ve never done this in the thousands of looping Resets they’ve gone through.

“Please do inform me buddy! You can tell me! After all what am I if not you BEST FRIE—

A bullet shot through one of Flowey’s petals leaving a smoking hole, Flowey’s expression froze completely as they could swear the determination coursing through their body froze for a moment.

Clover stood in front of them, hat making a shadow over their face as they pointed their deadly weapon at the flower.

Their next words came out as a chilly chorus of hatred, the accent they oh so delicately hat kept throughout the resets falling into a more natural flat tone.

<It’s you. >

They smirked, smiled, grinned from ear to ear, it almost looked manic as their body started to shake with a cold harsh laugh bubbling up.

<‘Best friend’ really? After all the atrocities you’ve committed I thought you could do better you weed .>

Flowey shook himself out of the shellshock this Clover just gave him, that’s unlike them… they’ve… they’ve never seen Clover act like this!!!

No.

Wait.

They have .

Ohoho~

It’s interesting now isn’t it?

They are back.

“Oh me, oh my! Is that you my old buddy! Finally woke up again? I’ve been waiting to see more of your fruitless tricks, oh remembering one~

The last part was said in a cold and mocking manner, as if Flowey didn’t see any danger in his enemy.

‘Clover’ lifted their hat, their right eye was a vibrant mixture of yellow, cyan and purple colours with their pupil swirling around like someone drawn hypnotized, their other was nothing more than a glassy yellow unfocused eye.

Flowey knew why it was like that- how could he not when he had gone through soooo much effort to get rid of that eye in sooo many resets just because!

<You’re deplorable Flowey~ You don’t even see me as Clover anymore, do You?>

“Of course I don’t! Clover is a naive little fool who will listen to me no matter what I say! You’re some stubborn pest that I can’t keep dead.”

<Awh well if you really want to call me something you can just call me Reset dear~~ it’s what you try to make me do anyways. But I’ve been here for a while, my acting is just that good you blind poor little mouse .>

The two mocked each other in tones that clearly indicated their unrivaled hatred towards each other.

Reset pointed their weapon at Flowey again.

<I’m tired of your little tricks, let’s fight! Here. Now. For until your determination caves in.>

Flowey laughed maniacally.

MY determination giving in? OH PLEASE! I’ll smash you apart, stitch you together and FEED YOU YOUR OWN ORGANS UNTIL I WIPE YOUR MEMORIES AND MIND OFF OF THIS TIMELINE!

The two stood opposed to each other for tense beats of silence, both waiting for the other to make the first move…

The Core illuminated the background, the balcony leaving a stunning view as the showdown was about to begin.

Tension vibrated in the air, thick enough to cut it with a thorn.

The first move of the sickening dance went to Flowey, Friendliness bullets fired into the direction of his opponent.

Reset wasted no time, they charged into the pellets but dodged at the last moment, with a snap of their fingers sparks ignited and burned the projectiles.

When closed in they shot at the flower who burrowed and dodged backing up but not unscathed with another petal grazed.

Flowey scoffed and sent vines towards his enemy.

Reset narrowed their eyes and shot a few to sever them and make them useless, they weren’t in the clear though.

They attempted to weave past the zigzagging pattern but found themself getting some of their arm torn off by a rather sharp hook.

Their eyes only narrowed as they charged, closed in and before Flowey could react—-

Flowey and Reset stood opposite form each other again, Reseg unharmed but Flowey had a hole blown through his petal.

He laughed nervously.

“That’s the first time you’ve ever gotten the jump on me huh?~ You’ve grown better, care to show me more of those dodging and fighting skills you’ve been hiding?”

He made a horrifying expression eyes hollowed out with a wide decaying smile.

“After all~ I just need to win once for it to all be over, this might aswell just be a game of tic-tac-toe—-”

A bullet placed right through the flowers face again and again and agai—-

Flowey scoffed.

“No stalling you huh?”

The two immediately resumed their wicked dance of bullets and plants.

Flowey raised a garden of vines, undodgeable as Reset’s leg got snatched with the vine smashing them into the ground now—

Flowey hissed as smoke and fire from magic burned through his vines, he should’ve never let them get even close to any magic books back then… it might just be instinct but they’ve stolen the basics of magic attacks left and—-

Flowey was forced to use his vines to block a fire shot straight to the face, vines burning down, weapon faces to his face and—

Again.

The Flowey sliced this time, destroying flooring, nicking Reset and tangling around rubble to throw at them.

A good hit on their arm but that won’t bring them down- no it can’t.

Reset slid underneath a piece of rock, pushing themself up and throwing an electric charged ball like Flowey had seen Dalv use, he blocked and used the burnt vine to attack, Reset dodging and shooting it down among a few others.

Flowey changed his position on the battlefield while Reset was distracted, he fired pellets but it wasn’t enough.

With zero room to breathe, Reset dodged the pellets, the projectiles only crashing into Flowey’s own attacks.

Flowey grinned, really? They expected that to be the end of his attacks?

The severed parts of the vines rushed at Reset along with the pellets now multiplied given the time.

Reset weaved through the ‘intricate’ attack pattern, setting the projectiles ablaze as Flowey lost control and dodged his own attacks crashing into the ground.

Reset didn’t get any turn to breathe, more vines being flung at them, with almost a melodic sense of rhythm they stepped back and ducked underneath the first vine that tried to swipe at them.

It didn’t stay intact for long, with a loud popping sound the vine was severed and set ablaze.

Reset grabbed the flaming attack, expression unchanging as they swung it over the battlefield setting other flora ablaze and lighting the balcony ablaze.

Despite the challenge and the danger that lurked within, Flowey couldn’t help but feel ever increasing exhilaration from this encounter, they’ve learned.

THEY’VE LEARNED!!!

And they keep learning~ then they can keep fighting and it’ll NEVER become boring!!!

Though this was a cog in his plan, he’s never been against a little game!!

Flowey narrowly avoided another shot, he might not be able to die but…

Flowey looked Reset into the eyes, vibrant and almost luminescent as they stood among the fire, cold iron from their weapon reflecting the spreading wild fire.

… If he loads, they’re gonna get healed aswell.

Not to mention he can’t adept himself without Reset doing so in turn.

Flowey scoffed, avoiding shot after shot, trying to fight back with vines and pellets… No he was going to need more than basic tricks no matter how on theme they were.

Appealing to their morality wouldn’t work to throw them off he couldn’t—

Flowey felt a shiver go down his stem, jerking him to the side… one of his petals were scorched.

The sides of his mouth pulled up as he laughed in an almost condescending way.

“You really think you can pull of a sneak attack?”

Her let out a barrage of vines and stars, red flashes appearing for splits of moments before a projectile rushed to the spot and scattered into many deadly shards.

Oh please , you’re LV this run isn’t really subtle you know?”

More bullets, fire spread, burned some vines. Not a problem, he didn’t need all of them to fight them right?

It’s time to take this a little more seriously, this is sure to be a bla—

Something cracked

A melting amalgamate sat watching over a burning city on a skyscraper, their soul a bright red heart held together by colorless substance.

The flames licked the sky and the rubble from collapsing buildings mixed with the dust of monsters, the sounds of warfare tearing a once peaceful city apart.

The amalgamate- no Frisk knew this was going to happen.

They knew after the switch to this body- no matter how necessary to keep them alive would not sit well with humans.

They appreciated all Alphys had done to keep them alive- they appreciated the volunteer… Kanako was it? To help with the body, but the other humans didn’t.

Fear reigns over all and vengeance is a force stronger than any ambassador out there, they should know after what they’ve done.

The amalgamate slowly turned their gaze to the ashy and polluted sky, watching fireflies of fire travel up and up… until there was no sky further they could reach and they dissapeared.

It was kind of like their efforts here, they built monster civilization more and more, trying to reach the same level as other humans who would always see themself as gods in comparison to their friends and then…

When they reached too far? It was those very humans that decided that strike them down without thinking twice.

There was only one way to possibly fix this, it was to go back when this all started, before they ever met anyone, before they ever found out about the deaths off…

Frisk shook their head, its fine, they’ve had their time to mourn.

Though resetting… it was risky to say the least.

With their body and soul how it was now, they couldn’t know for sure how the timeline would react but…

Was gambling with an even worse reality worth it to fix this?

Frisk looked down at their hands, melty imitations of what they once were held together by spit and stubbornness.

Would a reset undo this? Would that give them another chance at being stable? If they’re being honest they do miss it. . . Missed the solid body and effortless movements they could preform that they’d taken for granted after their journey.

The skyscraper Frisk sat ontop of rumbled.

They suppose they have no other choice than to try don’t they? Their siblings wouldn’t have died for another age of war.

The reset button appeared infront of Frisk, their most consistent and patient friend of all never having dissapeared.

They reached out their arm and—

Reset tugged at their arm and legs to the best of their ability, damn it damn it DAMN IT!

They’ve run out energy, they can’t get out of these vines.

Thorns dug through the fabric of their clothes into their skin, their flesh boiled and burned in a way not unfamiliar to them anymore.

Flowey’s awful cackling echoed over the balcony, grin pulled wide enough to make his face look like tearing.

“WASN’T THAT JUST A WONDERFUL DISPLAY!”

He kept laughing and laughing, Reset tightened their grip on their revolver and tried to force out their will to move, they were getting more tired- but they couldn’t give up here, not because of some stupid cruel flowers vines.

“I had to load… what? Thirty something times? I have to admit you’ve fitted gooood~ but not good enough.”

The flower booped Reset on the nose, scratching their face as they retracted their vine, Reset worked up to will to raise their gun with their one free hand, it was shaking.

“Oh? What’s this? Those vines of mine are supposed to drain determination, are you really so stubborn you refuse to take a hint and forget?”

Reset made a grumbling sound and tightened their grip on the weapon, finger on the trigger.

<I promise you, you weed… i’ll NEVER forget your sins no matter what you do… and I’ll hunt you down till the very end of time itself you hear me?>

Flowey laughed hysterically, Reset pulled the trigger, a part of Flowey’s face blasted off, he made a sour expression and cut Reset’s arm off in one swift motion.

Reset but their tongue, this wasn’t the first time this wasn’t—- they could handle this.

“What a bold bold claim, oh Clover~ or is ‘Reset’ more accurate? There is no timeline you’ll ever match my strength and power- no timeline you’ll ever win against me.

Reset laughed, Flowey looked disappointed at the lack of reaction to the loss of a limb and what must be some level of pain.

<Is that a challenge? Are you challenging me? You’re not gonna win you know? You’re just some pathetic poor little Flower~ one so scared of fighting upfront you need these wittwe twicks of yours!>

Reset spit.

<I’d never lower myself to the level of your tactics and I’ll win on top of all of that if you keep going, judgement will come for you. You can mark my words wittwe bwabwy cowawd .>

Flowey pierced a vine through Resets chest, they coughed, shit shit SHIT there go their lungs, it’s been a while since he used that one .

Must’ve gotten on his nerves huh?

“As much as I’d like to insult your pathetic smiling muck even more…”

Flowey sighed disappointedly for ‘dramatic effect’ Reset once heard him call it.

Quite accurate if they had to say.

“I fear I have a date with the real naive little bleeding heart Clover I know and love~”

Flowey grinned, the missing part of his face not having been enough to end his tale… If only Reset could’ve still used their other eye… if only they aimed closer…

An orange reset button appeared infront of Flowey, they waved goodbye to Reset as their vision blurred before pressing it.

KSSHHRRKKKK

Something shattered, it shook Reset more awake than ever, it came from… the reset button? Reality itself had splintered and cracked as-

CRACK

The cracks started to rapidly spread and in no time Reset was no different from Flowey consumed by the fracture turning everything into nothing but a familiar void.

The thorns still clung to them- but it’s fine, it was ignorable by now…

They couldn’t see…

Couldn’t move…

There was nothing…

There was everything…
