“You know Jay, I miss this. I miss you,” Amalia said as she placed her head on Jay’s shoulder. It had been a long time since they were alone together. Jay had also decided to lean into her more.
“You know how hard it is to match our schedules, Ellie. You’re busy when I’m free and I’m busy when you’re free.” Jay seemed to have leaned into her, too. They were both huddled up with each other, feeling the best they’ve felt in months.
Jay suddenly straightened up. Amalia then stared at him with a confused look.
“Well, we can’t just sit here all day! We’ve finally got time to be together, so let’s not waste it. Why don’t we treat ourselves to lunch? I know a nice place ‘round here! I’m actually familiar with the owner too!” said Jay as he stood up.
Amalia stood up too. “That sounds great! Lead the way!” she said as she grabbed his hand, shocking Jay a little. He could feel a slight blush come to his face.
“A-alright!”
They had practically run to get to this place. Once they had finally arrived, they both tried their best to catch their breath. Amalia composed herself first. She took a good look at the place they were going to be eating at. The outside looked clean and nice enough.
“Woodledge Diner, huh. Never heard of this place.” She patted Jay on the back to try to calm him down.
He seemed to have calmed down a bit. “Trust me! It’s good! Been here a dozen times already,” Jay said.
When they stepped into the establishment, they were greeted with a comfortable atmosphere. The person behind the counter had noticed they had come in too, it seems.
“Good to see you back here again, Jay,” he said. “Who’s this lady next to you? I’ve never seen her before,” the man asked. The two seemed to have made brief eye contact before looking away from each other.
“She’s my g-girlfriend.” The man’s eyes looked like it had just popped out of his head. He came walking closer to them.
“Lillian, you’ve got to come see this! Jay got himself a girlfriend somehow. Oh, I almost forgot, my name is Jules.” A woman ran out of the kitchen when she heard that. Lillian, Amalia had assumed.
“What! Since when?!?” Lillian said as she got closer to the both of them. “Oh, I hope he isn’t causing you too much trouble! Who might you be?” Lillian asked.
“Amalia Arthate’s my name, Mrs! And no, Jay hasn’t been causing trouble at all,” Amalia replied.
“Amalia Arthate…. Amalia Arthate…. Where have I heard that name before….” Lillian thought to herself. Suddenly, both Lillian and Jules went wide eyed.
“YOU’RE DATING THE NEW PROGNOSTICATOR OF WORKSHIRE CHURCH??? THE AMALIA ARTHATE???” the couple shouted at the same time. Amalia covered her ears with her hands and Jay seemed to have been taken aback at their yelling.
“Relax, you two! I’ve known her since flight school!” Jay said. It seemed to have calmed them down a little until they started realising the two met in flight school and not whatever place they were thinking of.
“Wait, flight school? You went to flight school, Ms Arthate?” Jules asked.
Amalia laughed nervously at the question, and she could partially feel Jay tensing too. Best avoid talking about it and possibly ruining their date. “It’s…. Complicated. I’d rather not talk about it. Anyway, do you have any seating recommendations?” Lillian pointed to a table next to the window. Jay and Amalia quickly shuffled to the table Lillian was pointing at.
They both got comfortable, and it seemed like Jules had brought them a menu as well.
After a few minutes of waiting, their food had finally arrived. Jay had ordered hamburger steak and Amalia ordered fettuccine. They both also ordered iced tea. They thanked Lillian and began to eat.
In just one bite, Amalia had fallen in love with Lillian’s and Jules’ cooking. “This is so good!” she muttered to Jay. He only gave her an ‘I told you’ look as he continued to eat his food. Amalia had done the same too. But she had taken a short break to ask Jay a question.
“How did you find this place, by the way? It’s in the depths of an alleyway and you don’t normally go to alleyways.” Amalia went back to eating her food as she waited for Jay to answer.
“I was in a tough spot a few years after you got kicked out of flight school, but Jules and Lillian helped me out a bunch. I don’t think I’d even be here if it wasn’t for them,” he answered. Amalia could only nod at that.
They had to talk about the whole flight school thing soon, fully. But today was not that day. They were going to enjoy this day to the fullest, thank you very much. But what Jay said in his last sentence did make Amalia worry a bit. She had to ask about it soon. Amalia did have another question, though.
“Are they together?” she asked.
“Huh?” Jay stared at her, confused.
“Jules and Lillian, I mean,” she replied. “Are they together?” Amalia asked again.
Jay pondered on the question for a moment. “I think so? I actually never asked them but they seem to be an item.” He took a sip out of his drink.
“I can’t believe you,” Amalia started. “You’ve been friends with them for years and you STILL don’t know if they’re an item or not.” Both of them seemed to laugh at this.
Overall, their date was going well.
They had finished their meals and decided to split the bill (Jay wanted to pay fully, but Amalia wouldn’t let him). They thanked the supposed couple for the food and went out of the establishment.
“So, what do we do now?” Jay asked Amalia. Amalia smirked playfully at the question.
“I got my paycheck and I’ve been itching to go to the mall, so what do you say? Wanna go on a shopping spree?” Amalia asked.
“Hell yeah, I saw that they had some new model planes when I last visited, so I hope they have those in stock,” Jay answered Amalia’s question.
Now that’s decided, they both began to walk to the mall.
They arrived a few minutes later. The mall was jammed packed with people once they had entered. A normal sight, really. Jay grabbed Amalia by the hand and bee lined his way to the closest model plane shop he saw.
The shop was nice. It probably has the biggest model planes collection she’d ever seen. Jay and Amalia took their time browsing the store. Jay ended up buying three model planes and Amalia had bought one for herself too, surprisingly. She couldn’t scrub her liking of planes no matter how hard she tried, and honestly, she was glad. They both walked out of the shop happy.
“What shop should we go to next?” Amalia asked Jay. Jay had looked around for a bit before his eyes settled on a store. It was a clothing shop. Oh boy, this was going to be a long, long shopping session.
Amalia sighed but ultimately agreed to go to the shop. Her wardrobe had become uninspiring, Katriya’s words not hers. Besides, new clothes made her feel good, and she wasn’t going to turn down Jay’s other interest, which is fashion, by the way.
They walked into the store hand in hand and prepared themselves (Amalia mostly) for a long shopping spree.
After a few hours, they got out of the shopping mall. Both were quite satisfied with their purchases. They had also stopped for some food inside of the shopping mall so their stomachs were filled.
“Man, that was a great trip! I feel so relieved now!” Jay said with a smile on his face.
“But, you know Jay, I’ve been feeling rather pent up these days. Why don’t we head down to your place and maybe work these out?” Amalia gave Jay a wink. That suggestion only made the smile on his face grow more.
“Sure, we haven’t really got time to be intimate with each other and now might be the only chance we get!” Jay said.
Jay grabbed Amalia by the hand and walked her all the way to the bus stop to his house. Once they finally reached his house. Jay made sure all the doors and windows were locked shut before they had their fun for the night.
