Work Text:
Tony stared as his phone as he read the message Vic had sent to the band group chat. "Hey dudes! Just wanted to remind you all that rehearsal's tonight at my place... don't be late!!! :-)" It'd only been awhile since Vic had sent the text and Tony was already standing at his front door in the cold weather with nothing but his guitar case and sweaty hands. He told himself he'd rather be an hour early than an hour late.
Rather than actually knocking on the door however, his feet were glued to the welcome mat that sat in front of the door and all he could get himself to do was stand there, staring at the burgundy colored door as he thought of every scenario that could play out; the bad ones specifically. He spent that time contemplating, or rather persuading himself not to actually go through with his reason for being at his house so much earlier than the rehearsal time.
Recently, Tony had spent almost all of his time with Vic, whether it be for rehearsing or hanging out after rehearsing, he just couldn't seem to peel himself from Vic's side. In the time they'd spend together, he noticed a lot of things about Vic, one of them being that Vic always had a travel sized sewing kit with him almost wherever they were. He never seemed to get a perfect view of it, but no matter where they went, he always saw that same bag not far from his side.
He had come to the conclusion that coming over to Vic's house so early would be a good idea because he'd gotten a few holes in a Star Wars jacket he was really fond of, and what other person should he see to help him than the one boy he was having a sexuality crisis over? That fact alone was why he was so anxious to knock on the door.
Despite all of his anxieties, he knew he couldn't allow himself to keep this going much longer because the front door could open at random, and he was standing outside wearing a jacket with holes all over while it was as cold as it got in San Diego. He let out a deep sigh and firmly knocked on Vic's front door, his hands moving to fidget with the fabric on his jacket as he waited for Vic to answer. When the door eventually opened, he was met with none other than Vic, who was still in his pajamas and slippers.
"Woah man! What're you doing here? Rehearsal isn't for another hour." Vic laughed, partially out of shock from seeing Tony at his door. It wasn't like they didn't hang all the time, but he was never one to show up unannounced... and maybe he was a little embarrassed that Tony saw him in his dinosaur pajama set too.
"Oh my god.. sorry.. uhh.. I know I'm a little early for rehearsal but I had a favor to ask you." Tony's nerves were evident in his voice, the way it was strained, a little shaky, and as loud as a whisper. Vic found it kind of cute how he got so worked up over little things like this. "Oh.. come on in! Tell me what's up tones." Vic moved out of the walkway so Tony could come in and they headed for Vic's basement, the place where he'd say 'all the magic happens'.
"Well I've noticed whenever we hang out you always have a little kit with you," Tony paused for a second as they walked down the basement stairs that were only illuminated by the string lights that twisted around the railing. "Do you sew by any chance?" He wanted to look at Vic's face, but was stuck with the back of his head that was, of course, covered with a black beanie.
"Oh yeah dude I sew all the time!" When they reached the bottom of the stairs, Vic flipped a light switch that turned on the rest of the lights in the room, bringing light to all of their equipment, the various cds and records that were stored on countless shelves and the random things scattered all over the floor. "I think I have my kit down here actually.. why? You need me to sew somethin?" He looked back at Tony, and he replied just before he could lose himself in Vic's big brown eyes.
"Yeah actually.. my jacket got fucked up when I went out skating and fell. It was really embarrassing." Tony laughed awkwardly as Vic crashed down on the leather couch that was also found in the room, and Tony was soon beside him as he sighed out his words. He looked over and saw the sewing kit beside Vic. The same one he always saw.
"Aw... cmon lemme see it." His hands stretched out towards Tony, and he took that as the opportunity to start taking the jacket off. It made Vic smile to see Tony's tattooed arms again, the ones he hadn't been able to see much since it was the middle of winter, and when they were met with the cold temperature of the basement, his arms were soon scattered with goosebumps.
"There's a bunch of little holes and I was just wondering if you could sew them up for me.." He put his jacket in Vic's hands and he took it, looking around and trying to find all the holes he'd been talking about. A few definitely weren't "little", and there was a evident size difference in each one.
"Oh totally yeah, this'll be easy." Tony was a little embarrassed when Vic had said that something like this was easy to fix. It was probably simple enough for Tony to fix if he'd watched a tutorial or two, but seeing Vic work on sewing something for him and having him touch all over one of his favorite pieces of clothing felt so much more fulfilling than that.
Vic looked over and smiled at Tony after he'd spoken, which soon led him to smile back. He felt like an idiot for both staring at him as long as he was, and for thinking that Vic would care that the only thing covering his chest was a sleeveless Star Wars shirt, even though Vic himself was also wearing one that matched his dinosaur pajama pants. Why wasn't Vic looking at his arms as much as he was looking at Vic's? He huffed and rolled his eyes, refusing to think about it further.
"Thanks.. I really appreciate it." Tony took their moment of silence to look at Vic's sewing kit, finally able to see it in full. It was a polka dotted bag that had tiny patches sewed onto it, and with what Tony's eyes could see, it contained string in a variety of colors, a collection of more patches, buttons, needles, and tons of other things crammed in there that he couldn't get a good view of. The small bag was bulky from all the things stuffed in it, as if there was barely room for anything else, and it made Tony wonder if Vic would appreciate getting a new bag.
"Your hobby is uh.. it's really cool." He looked down at Vic's hands as he began working on fixing Tony's jacket, taking note of how his hands moved effortlessly and efficiently. "Thanks man... yknow I can show you the ropes if you wanna." Vic's eyes went to Tony's, and for a second he thought Tony had zoned out with the way he was just blankly looking at him. "Yeah! Mhm... absolutely. I would totally dig that." His words came out jumbled and crammed together since he'd been snapped out of he daze. He soon smiled widely at Vic, which only led him to reciprocate it a little more genuinely than he was. That alone was enough to make him melt like ice cream on a hot summer day.
Vic scooted a little closer to Tony, their thighs just barely touching as he moved his jacket in between the two of them so it was in Tony's reach. He moved his fringe away from his eye before he began to instruct. "It's pretty simple honestly," Vic gave Tony the needle and put his hand on the back of his to guide it. "Just stick the needle through the fabric juuust like that.." Tony's hand began to lightly shake under Vic's touch, and it was clear he was freaking the fuck out, but he still paid attention to Vic's tutorial, moving his hand along with his as it was being guided.
"And then you just stick it back through that opposite side and pull!" When the needle threaded through completely, Vic let go of Tony's hand and let him pull the hole closed since it was basically all closed up. "See? You're perfect at it already." He looked down at the sewn up hole he'd helped Vic close before looking up at Vic himself once again, grinning like an idiot from the praise. "Yeah... that's pretty simple." Vic's hand rose up to give Tony a high five and when he'd noticed, he was quick to slap his hand against Vic's, the high five only making his smile grow wider. Vic noticed that Tony was smiling a lot more than he normally would, and it made him really happy.
"Obviously some things are more complex than others, but sewing holes closed for the most part is pretty straightforward." Vic's focus shifted back to fixing Tony's jacket when he had the needle again, but he didn't bother moving any further away from him. They were still in close proximity and their thighs were still pressed against each other. They sat there again in silence, and Tony almost felt guilty for not having anything to talk about. He was heavily relieved when Vic started talking again.
"So you've been skating?"
"Yeah.. I've been going out a lot more recently."
"And you didn't tell me??"
"I didn't think you'd be interested."
"Dude, I'm out on my bike all the time. Just ring my cell."
Vic was well aware that reaching out to him was something Tony was deathly afraid of for some reason, and although Vic didn't mind being the one to make plans, he wanted Tony to at least try to be open to planning things with him on his own.
"Well I mean.. Im going out tomorrow." He looked almost anxious as he stared at Vic, who didn't bother looking back because he was focused on sewing, but he felt Tony's big eyes staring at him blatantly. "We could maybe.. god I dunno.. get coffee or something." Tony stopped himself right after saying that, quickly rephrasing his words. "...and tea! We could get tea too." Tony knew Vic wasn't a coffee guy. He made little efforts to get into things Vic liked, and Vic was slowly starting to notice that. Tea however was something Tony couldn't really get a feel for, and even if he couldn't get himself to like it, it was good enough to him to at least know Vic liked it.
"Oh? How did you know I liked tea?" Vic's hand went to move his hair out of his face again, and it was a little silly that even with his hat on, his hair still moved into his face without failure. "You've had some when we've hung out a few times.. just something I remembered." Tony said that so casually, as if gathering up all the things Vic liked hadn't become a hobby of his. When he saw Vic struggle to get his hair away from his eyes yet again, he decided to attempt to help him out. "Here.. uhh.. I'll hold it back for you." Tony scooted into the little space of room that kept them apart, although being this close to him wasn't entirely necessary, he'd use any chance he could get to feel him. Tony's tatted hands went to pull back Vic's hair and he held it firmly in his hand, as if he were about to tie it into a ponytail.
"Mmm thank you." Vic thanked Tony warmly, finally being able to focus better on his task.
It didn't look like Vic had a lot on his mind, but internally he was thinking about Tony. Thinking about all of the little things he'd mentioned about him, all of the things Vic was sure wouldn't go noticed by him. He was also thinking about how he went so far as to hold his hair back for him as he worked, as if Tony was trying to please him somehow. He wondered if there were any feelings linked to this. 'I mean... obviously there has to be something right?' Vic thought to himself as he sewed yet another hole shut. Vic knew that a "regular friend" wouldn't do things like this. It was either that, or Tony was just a very devoted friend. In a way, Vic kind of liked having all the attention on him.
"Hey Tones.. are you like this a lot? With your other friends I mean." Vic was starting on a larger hole when he spoke, and Tony was lucky that he was so focused on that because Vic would've been met with a hot faced Tony otherwise. Something about being indirectly called out like that made him embarrassed to no end. He was so relieved the other guys weren't here, and it made him think that maybe he should've asked Jaime for some advice beforehand. "No.. umm.. it's just you."
Being so close to him was making Tony dizzy. He could feel just how warm he was, could feel every movement his body made and could inhale all of his scents. Vic smelt lightly of vanilla, but the scent also mixed with the smell of his shampoo. It was enough to tell Tony that wash day hadn't been very long ago. He felt himself put more of his weight onto Vic as Tony brought his head to Vic's shoulder, and as much as he wanted to stop, to tell himself to get a grip and to stop making a fool of himself, he just couldn't. He wanted to rest himself on Vic, to put himself in his gentle care and push all of his worries away for just a little while as he inhaled his sweet scent.
"You're cute." Vic leaned his head onto Tony's, just a little, and it only made him nuzzle into Vic further. He wanted to hold him, but he was scared that would throw him off too much.
"You smell really good. I didn't know you were a vanilla guy." Tony's eyes went to Vic's hands, imagining how warm they must be, how soft they must feel. They must've felt so different compared to his, that were dry and calloused from playing guitar so frequently. "Ehh.. I kinda like smelling like fruit more." His words didn't sound completely confident, but it was clear he took how he smelt fairly serious. "It's kinda embarrassing to admit but... I have one of those kid fragrances and it smells just like mangoes. I really like it." Vic let out an embarrassed laugh as he finished up Tony's jacket, holding it up to make sure there weren't any holes he'd forgotten.
"I don't think that's something you should be embarrassed about. I mean, fragrances don't really have age labels." Tony was nervous to push his boundaries a bit, but his hands trailed up to Vic's scalp, pushing his black beanie up and off his head as he massaged his scalp lightly. "You should wear it when we go out tomorrow." Tony's touch made Vic go completely silent, and he was as still as a statue. Tony's intentions were so clear, it didn't even look like he was trying to hide them, and it made him wonder if their little skate outing was actually a skate date.
"Oh I'll make sure. I want you to tell me how good I smell again." Vic's head turned to look at Tony, slowly handing him his jacket as they kept the eye contact. They were so close, his touch was so soothing, their faces were both so hot. It was a battle of who would give into their impulses first. "I can tell you like the attention." Tony spoke shyly due to the lingering fear he had that he sounded arrogant. He liked giving Vic the attention he craved. Tony thought Vic had gotten enough of it, considering he was the lead singer in their band, but clearly something was missing, and Tony was supplementing that emptiness perfectly. He wanted nothing more but to prove his worth to him.
"What gave it away? Wait don't tell me." Right after speaking, Vic's lips came up to Tony's to lock him into a warm kiss. His lips were warm and smooth, and it complimented their plumpness well, not to mention they tasted just as good as they looked. While Tony was primarily focused on kissing Vic back with mutual passion, he was also wondering what chapstick he'd used.
Vic had began pushing Tony's back against the couch, and he was nearly on top of him when the sound of the doorbell interrupted their intimacy. Vic's eyes widened and he was quick to pull his lips off of Tony's. He was running so behind and he hadn't even realized it. He didn't even plan on wearing pajamas for this rehearsal, and yet here he was in his dinosaur pajamas and his monster foot slippers. Vic stood up and scattered around, making sure everything was set up (for the most part) for their rehearsal while Tony just watched him, completely out of breath and missing the feeling of Vic's perfect lips on his own. He wondered what would've happened if they didn't get interrupted.
"Thanks for fixing my jacket. And.. uh.. for the kiss." Tony rubbed his lips together after speaking, trying to rub in the mixture of Vic's chapstick and saliva onto his own lips. He could only hope to taste as good as Vic did. "Oh yeah, totally." Vic ran a hand through his hair before coming back to the couch and quickly picking up his beanie. "We'll come back to this I promise."
Vic began running up the basement stairs to get to the front door before Tony could even think of replying, leaving him with nothing but his thoughts, his moist lips, and his sewed up jacket.
Tony's eyes trailed over to Vic's polka dotted sewing bag that still looked full to the brim. If this is what would happen whenever Tony ripped some of his clothes, he ought to fall off his skateboard more often.
