Two Undone

Summary:

Gu Mang returns from Liao, mangled and blue-eyed, a broken remnant of the man Mo Xi vowed to love and protect. Mo Xi confronts the ghost Gu Mang has become in Chonghua.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

A chest caves in where warmth once breathed,

Eyes strain through gloom, no peace beneath.

Hands claw air, grasping at dust,

Chasing what’s dead, what turned to rust.

A shape drifts there, beyond my hold,

Tallying years in shadows cold.

Breaths catch hard, then fade to none,

A thread snaps quiet - two undone.

The world grinds on, vast and blind,

We’re tied to ghosts we left behind.

Each drop falls heavy, a muted scream,

Souls cut loose, lost in the seam.

Notes:

So, this is my first work here. I wrote this because Mo Xi’s pain got stuck in my head and wouldn’t leave. Yuwu broke me. This poem’s him pouring out all that grief, love, and rage he carries.
