Sunghoon was sitting on the couch when he heard the front door opening, revealing his best friend, a tall, good-looking man–Heeseung. The older one smiled when he saw the younger one on the couch, and placed the key card on the drawer they bought to store important keys. Both of them were aware that having two men in one apartment can be chaotic. So they try to be organized as much as they can and It look like it worked because they haven’t encountered losing a valuable thing, thanks to Sunghoon.
“You’re early.” Sunghoon greeted as Heeseung sat comfortably beside the younger.
“Yup. The dance practice ended early.” Heeseung replied as he extended his arms to grab popcorns placed on Sunghoon’s lap.
The younger blinked and let out a sigh. He’s been contemplating asking the older one for advice regarding his suitor. Sunghoon has never been in a relationship and he doesn’t know how it works. The younger one is like an amateur in this aspect and knowing Sunghoon, he wants it to be perfect. Jay is a good guy, really. He likes Sunghoon a lot and so does Sunghoon… a little less, maybe? Sunghoon is still confused about his feelings, but he’s 22 years old and somehow, he wanted to experience being in love and to be in a relationship. So even though he isn’t quite sure about his feelings for Jay, he wanted to try. He wanted to be selfish for once. He knows it’s an asshole move to accept Jay’s feeling while still not sure about his, but he told it to Jay and the guy, being a good man, said that it’s okay. He said that he can prove himself and will make Sunghoon feel so much loved so that he won’t be confused with his feelings. Sunghoon felt guilty, but he really wanted to try and risk it all.
“Wow, that’s a loud sigh.” Heeseung looked at the younger man with confusion.
“Okay. I’ll be straightforward. I want your advice.” Sunghoon looked directly at Heeseung. The older man’s doe eyes made his heart melt. “Go on.” Heeseung replied, not wasting any seconds.
“So, I have a suitor. We met two months ago, we became friends and I really like him… like a friend. Then last week, he asked me if he could court me. The name is Jay by the way. I don’t kno–”
“Yes, I know him. He’s also on the basketball team. He’s nice.” Heeseung interrupted. “Oh, really?” Sunghoon replied, having no idea that Jay was part of the university team as well. What a fake friend he thought to himself.
“Stop spacing out and continue.” The older replied.
“Okay so, he asked me if he can court me and knowing me, Park Sunghoon, I don’t have any experience having someone who likes me and pursues me!! I feel so overwhelmed. I don’t want to turn him down because there’s still a part of me that wants to know how it feels to fall in love, to be loved, and to give so much love.” The younger one said.
“So, what’s the problem?” Heeseung said while still munching on the popcorn. Heeseung is a chill guy and you can’t deny how good-looking he is. Aside from being handsome, he also has a lot of experience being in a relationship. A complete opposite of Sunghoon. It was mostly girls, but he is definitely open to boys as well, not any other guy though. His type in men are tall, pale, with soft features, especially the eyes. His type in men are those with pretty moles around its face that he wants to kiss so badly.
Sunghoon closed his eyes and covered his face with his pretty hands, very evident about the problem he’s been thinking non-stop. Heeseung held Sunghoon’s hand and moved it away from the younger’s face. “I’m still not sure about my feelings for him,” Sunghoon said. “Like, I really like being with him, but… being in a relationship with him? I’m not so sure…” Sunghoon was looking at Heeseung helplessly.
“That’s normal though. I dated a lot of people wherein I’m not totally into them. You’ll realize it along the way, don’t overthink it too much and just take risks. Love is also about taking risks and getting hurt. It’s normal so don’t overthink it too much.”
“Wow, you’re making so much sense, hyung. I didn’t know you were good with love advice.” Sunghoon still had the gut to tease the older.
“Oh shut up!” The older replied, rolling his eyes.
“I’m just kidding! really. I’m really glad that I have you in my life, hyung. Like, what would I do without you? You’ve been my human diary since we were little. You were my first in everything…”
“Everything?” Heeseung teasingly asked, raising his eyebrows to the younger. Sunghoon looked away.
“I mean… not everything, but you were always the first one to know everything about me. Remember when I came out? I felt so comfortable opening up to you because I trust you that much.”
“Of course, It’s you, Sunghoon. I’m ready to understand anything when it comes to you.”
They were silent. Even though they have known each other all their lives. Grew up together. No secrets between each other. But there are a lot of unsaid feelings, unsaid feelings they thought that it would be better left unsaid.
“So, can you tell me how to like…hmm… act? being in a relationship? you know me, I want it to be perfect.” Sunghoon said, breaking the silence between them.
“Are you really asking me that? It’s like you’re doing it like a job. Haven’t you met someone where you just have the feeling of loving them so much, showering them with compliments, thinking about them all day? wanna hold their hands? and kiss them?” Heeseung bluntly said. Sunghoon looked away, feeling his cheeks burning. He hasn’t experienced all those things, but had felt those things.
“W-what do you mean?” The younger replied, not looking at Heeseung. This is embarrassing, Sunghoon thought.
“What I mean is, being in a relationship shouldn’t be forced. Don’t force your feelings on him. So, if after a couple of dates and you feel that your feelings for the guy are still platonic, just tell him that. He wanted to try it anyway so I think Jay is also ready to face the consequences.” Heeseung noticed Sunghoon staring, so he faced the younger one and held its cheeks. Sunghoon got startled and his cheeks felt like it’s on fire. Hoping the older won’t notice it.
“Sunghoon. Don’t overthink it. Love comes naturally. And in no time, you’ll realize you’re head over heels for the man. You said Jay is an amazing guy, you’ll learn to reciprocate his feelings once you get to know him better okay? unless…”
“Unless what?” Sunghoon confusingly asked.
Unless you want a different man. Heeseung thought and it better be unsaid.
Heeseung just shook his head and rested his back on the couch again. He doesn’t know why he’s so invested in this. Giving the younger one advice and he’s hoping Sunghoon won’t follow it. Fucking nonsense. Heeseung thought.
“Uhmm…”
“What now?” Heeseung replied looking at Sunghoon.
“This is going to be the last I swear! Though I’m kinda… you know… embarrassed” Sunghoon covered his face. So fucking cute. The older man thought.
“Just spill it, Hoonie.” Heeseung's heart melted with the way Sunghoon’s acting.
“Don’t laugh, okay!” the younger warned. Heeseung’s lips were pressed together forming a straight line as he nodded to the request of Sunghoon.
“Kiss… I don’t know how to…” Sunghoon continued, trying to avoid Heeseung’s gaze.
“OHH” Heeseung replied with a big smile plastered on his face. Sunghoon saw and gave the older one a soft slap on his arms.
“I HATE YOU!”
“No, I just find it, you know, cute…you’re 22 and you haven’t gotten your first kiss. I bet you are the hopeless romantic type where you want to save it for the love of your life? Am I right, Hoon?” the older one can't help not to tease Sunghoon.
“Hell no!! I was just asking because I want to have good kissing skills before Jay officially becomes my boyfriend!” Heeseung went silent. Both of them actually. Because yes, Sunghoon is hopeless romantic and Heeseung is kind of jealous.
“Wow, the effort… now I envy Jay.”
“Why the fuck would you envy Jay?”
“Do you wanna practice?” Heeseung did not care about the question Sunghoon just asked. Sunghoon was lost for words.
“You’re crazy.” Sunghoon thought that this conversation should already end. He stood up, planning to go back to his room, but he suddenly felt a hand in his wrist. Tugging him back to the couch.
“I forgot to tell you that aside from showering your partner lots of love, giving them a passionate kiss also makes them happy. Much happier to be honest.” A smirk was visible on the older’s face. Sunghoon’s heart is about to jump out of his heart. He can’t believe that he’s having this conversation with Heeseung. What the fuck.
“Do you want to disappoint Jay? I bet Jay also had his past relationships. Do you wanna be compared to them because you give the worst kiss?” Heeseung's tone became different. It became so serious that the younger one couldn't ignore it.
“Is that really a thing in a relationship? I mean… Do I get judged if I don’t give good kisses?” Heeseung noticed that Sunghoon got worried about the nonsense and shit advice he had said, but he doesn’t care anymore. He wanted to kiss the guy in front of him before anyone could.
“Yes…” another nonsense shit from Lee Heeseung.
“Fuck… I don’t wanna disappoint him.” Sunghoon covered his face again.
“So, you’re planning to give him a yes?” Jealousy.
“Huh?” The younger one looked at him.
“Huh?” Heeseung replied. “Anyway, I can give you a free kiss lesson. I am very skilled, you know.” Heeseung winked and he received a glare from the younger.
Sunghoon went silent for a minute. Thinking if he should accept the offer or not. Yes, he is a hopeless romantic type, but at the same time he wanna be good at kissing. Also, it’s Heeseung. It’s not some other guy who’s going to kiss him. It’s Lee Heeseung. His best friend. But… Sunghoon shook his head and decided to accept the offer. Just this once. Once is enough. Sunghoon thought.
“Okay.” Sunghoon replied after contemplating.
“Okay?” Heeseung couldn’t believe that the younger one really accepted his nonsense and shit offer. Sunghoon didn’t say another word and just looked at the older man, his eyes already closed. Fuck it. Heeseung thought. He placed both of his hands on Sunghoon’s cheeks. It was hot, he felt his hand burning. He stared for a while, he’s taking his time to appreciate how beautiful the man in front of him is. The thick eyebrows that compliments its long lashes. The pale and soft skin that made his mole so noticeable, he wanted to kiss it so badly.
He did.
Heeseung first pressed his lips on the mole near Sunghoon’s eyes.
“T-that’s not my l-lips” Sunghoon said, his eyes still closed. He doesn’t want to open it though.
“Shhh” Heeseung replied so gently that made Sunghoon’s heart beat so fast like it’s doing a marathon.
Heeseung then gave another kiss on the mole under Sunghoon’s eyes. It was a long, yearning kiss like he’s waiting for it all his life and he wanted to take his time. Gave a kiss on the mole on the side of his nose, the side of his chin, on his cheeks, and slowly… and slowly, on the corner of the younger’s lips. It was so silent, the only thing you’ll hear are the two heartbeats of the two young men in their shared apartment. Heeseung finally pressed their lips together, so deep that made Sunghoon hold onto Heeseung’s arms.
Heeseung devours Sunghoon lips like there is no tomorrow. His tongue is already inside Sunghoon’s mouth and he thinks he’s going crazy. Sunghoon’s trying to push Heeseung away to breathe, but the older keeps on kissing him deeply and passionately. From the younger’s mouth, the kiss went to its cheeks, chin, and on the younger’s neck. It was messy and hot.
“Ahh fuck.” The younger cannot help it anymore. He held onto Heeseung's hair. The grip tightened as Heeseung tried to leave a mark on the younger’s neck.
“Fuck. You said it was your first time. It doesn’t seem like it.” Heeseung said. He didn’t wait for Sunghoon’s answer as he once again closed the gap between them. Devouring each other like they’ve been waiting for this. Heeseung’s hand traveled inside Sunghoon’s clothes that made the younger moan, and making Heeseung smile through the kiss.
They’ve been kissing for 45 minutes now and it looks like no one wanted to stop. It was the phone call that made them stop. Messy hair, messy clothes, shiny, red lips from kissing. Both of them are insane.
It was Jay. They looked at each other before Sunghoon grabbed his phone and stood up to go lock himself in his room.
No words from them. Just unsaid feelings. Heeseung ran his fingers through his hair. He hated himself.
3 weeks since the insane kiss between two bestfriends happened and nothing changed between the two… or maybe Sunghoon tried his best to ignore Heeseung.
Heeseung was scrolling through his Instagram and when the feed refreshed, he wished he didn’t see that.
