Work Text:
Now that Shishitoren and Furin were on peaceful terms, the two groups were gathering — at least a few members — on a regular basis. Tomiyama was more than eager to come and see Umemiya — and desperately try to make Umemiya fight him again — Togame and Sakura were also quite content with the situation even though they wouldn’t admit it just yet. Hiiragi also had his own person he enjoyed seeing — Sako Kota, his childhood friend. However, the latter was seemingly absent at today’s gathering.
"Where’s Sako?" he would ask Tomiyama and Togame.
Tomiyama only shrugged it off, not really focused on anything — besides fighting and Umemiya — and Togame replied Sako called earlier explaining he was sick. Hiiragi accepted the explanation but still tried to call Sako on his phone, only to be met with his voicemail. This started to worry Hiiragi and gave him his usual stomach cramps. He swallowed his stomach pills — which he always carried with him — and turned around. Hiiragi couldn’t help but worry about Sako hurting himself and without any way to get help-
"What’s his address?" he asked Togame, knowing he was the most likely to know such information.
"You are freaking out, huh." Togame said with a laidback smile. Togame knew Sako's romantic feelings for his childhood friends and could only guess Hiiragi felt the same. This was why he immediately complied with Hiiragi's request and gave him Sako's home address. Hiiragi immediately left in a hurry after he got what he needed.
Sakura noticed him leaving him after he talked to Togame and went to ask the Shishitoren second-in-command what was going on. Togame only gave a vague reply to tease Sakura and see his so-cute angry and embarrassed face. He knew, him too, would have to deal with his crush soon.
Hiiragi finally arrived at Sako’s door with pain medication and a hot water bottle he bought at the convenience store, to ease any pain Sako could have. He rang at the door and waited, listening carefully to the noise inside. Hiiragi could hear some slow and heavy footsteps — as if the person was struggling to walk — coming towards the door. After a minute, the door opened to a pale and sweaty Sako who was holding on to his stomach. Sako instantly blushed when he saw who was at his door.
"W-what are you doing here?" Sako stammered, ashamed to be seen in such a state by none other than Hiiragi.
"Hey. Your gang told us you were sick and you didn’t reply to my calls so… I thought I should come to see if you’re okay."
"I-I am." Sako winced from the pain in his lower abdomen. He swiftly looked away.
But Hiiragi wouldn’t leave just like that.
"It doesn’t look like it. Go back to rest, I will bring you some meds." Hiiragi said, showing his pharmacy bag.
Sako looked in awe for a brief moment before complying with Hiiragi and went back to his bed. The latter joined him after with a glass of water and painkillers. Hiiragi noticed pyjamas pants on the floor — and they were soaked in blood between the legs. With that, Hiiragi understood what was going on with his friend — who was now curled up in his bed.
"Is it usually this painful?" Hiiragi asked while putting the water and medication on the bedside table.
"N-not that much." Sako replied.
"But you can leave, I'm gonna be okay." Sako continued, trying to sound bold, to no avail.
"Not until you take this. Hiiragi said, now bringing the glass and medication to Sako's face.
Sako did comply and sat up on his bed to drink the painkillers. Hiiragi helped him putting his cushion behind his lower back. After he did, he gave the empty glass back to Hiiragi, who put it on the bedside table for now. Sako waited for Hiiragi to get up and leave but the latter wouldn’t move.
"I did what you said so-" Sako said with a blush on his face. He couldn’t say out loud that he was feeling butterflies in his stomach from being taken care of…. by Hiiragi.
Hiiragi reached his arm out to Sako and patted his head.
"Lay down again." Hiiragi searched for something in the plastic bag.
"I have a hot water bottle and an ice pack. Which one do you use during... Your period?" Hiiragi wondered if Sako could take his bluntless badly. But Sako seemed to not mind.
Sako didn’t reply immediately, not willing to admit he usually just bears with it.
"Ice pack." he finally replied. He was too hot to deal with the heat of a hot water bottle.
Hiiragi seemed to pay no mind to the belated reply and got up to put the ice pack in the freezer. He went back to Sako's side not long after.
"Sorry. We’ll have to wait a little bit." Hiiragi explained
Sako nodded and laid back down again.
The silence that came after was awkward, to say the least. Hiiragi put out his phone to type some messages — maybe to tell his schoolmates where he was? Sako thought. — and just stayed put after he was done. Sako was almost glad he was in this much pain because he didn’t how he would have dealt with both the usual hormones’ horniness and the main subject of his horny fantasies sitting right next to him. Sako instantly hated his brain for making him think about all of this because now the fantasies were flooding again. He hid under his blankets. Hiiragi couldn’t see his blushy face. He would die from shame!
"Are you ok?" Hiiragi asked, worried about Sako's actions.
"Is there anything else I can do?"
Sako's eyes emerged from under the blanket and the teenager grumbled something.
Hiiragi smirked.
"Except leaving, of course." he said, knowing Sako's ‘tsundere’ side enough to guess he could say that.
Sako immediately retreated back under the blanket, busted. He also turned his back to Hiiragi. Hiiragi knew him all too well, he thought. This is when it downed to Sako that an ice pack would take forever to actually freeze. He mentally facepalmed for his choices.
"Don't you have to go patrol the town?" Sako asked, the pain subduing a little.
"Already told the guys I’d stay with you."
"Oh…"
Sako wished he could hide under a rock.
"I love you, y’know." Hiiragi suddenly said.
Sako turned again, to face Hiiragi and slightly sat up, giving him an awe look.
Hiiragi scratched the back of his head.
"Sorry, now isn’t the best time. I needed you to know that… I wasn’t forced to be here. I'm here because I care and want to take care of ya."
Sako's face turned as red as a tomato. He didn’t even dare to think his feelings would be something mutual.
"Even if, you know?" Sako asked with a vague gesture towards his lower abdomen and between his legs.
Hiiragi didn’t react badly when Sako did his coming out to him but Sako still dreaded the thought of Hiiragi being disgusted and backing out when the time would come to be intimate.
"Of course, I love everything about you, Sako." Hiiragi winced and went to take one of his stomach pain killers.
He was anxious. Sako understood.
His name sounded so smooth and beautiful, coming from Hiiragi's mouth. Hiiragi looked away, blushing.
"Hm. You can give me your answer once you feel better." he said.
Sako's urge to answer right away was fighting with his shyness and embarrassment. His thoughts were racing, almost making him forget about the pain.
"Don't pressure yourself." Hiiragi reassured.
But Sako spoke through his blanket.
"I-I love you too."
If it was one of his hormone-filled dreams, Sako hoped he would never wake up from it. He dared to look at Hiiragi to see him smiling.
"I'm glad. But let’s talk about it later. You need to rest."
Sako nodded, feeling the pain in full again. He closed his eyes, hoping again it wasn’t a dream.
When Sako woke up from his nap, he looked around the room and saw no one. It was a very vivid dream after all . He sighed in heavy disappointment.
"Are you alright?" Hiiragi's voice emerged from the kitchen.
Sako jumped when he hears it.
"The ice pack is finally ready." Hiiragi came back to Sako's bedroom with the icepack and a plate of sandwiches.
"Thought you would still be hungry, so I made some sandwiches. he said, putting the plate beside Sako and giving him the ice pack." Hiiragi mentally thanked Kotoha for her help with that.
"T-thank you." Sako said, taking a sandwich. He hadn’t eaten anything and was getting hungry despite the constant nausea. He hoped his stomach wouldn’t reject any of this. He wanted to eat Hiiragi's food and keep it.
Sako blushed in embarrassment. So it wasn’t a dream. Hiiragi confessed and Sako replied back.
"So. Hm. You meant it?" Sako dared to ask, his throat tight from the anxiety.
"What?" Hiiragi raised an eyebrow.
"You know what!" Sako freaked out with a blush. He thought his friend — or boyfriend he wasn’t sure yet — was messing with him.
Hiiragi blushed in return when he finally understood Sako’s question.
"Of course. I love you. And I want us to be… more than friends." Hiiragi looked away, scracthing his head again.
Sako looked and grumbled some apologies for misunderstanding him.
" I-I'd love to."
"Then that’s settled." Hiiragi said with an awkward kiss on Sako's forehead that would make the latter melt.
Hiiragi got up.
"Sorry I got to leave, the guys really need me right now." Sako nodded and Hiiragi patted Sako's head one last time.
"Call me if you have a problem, Kota." he continued.
Sako almost had a heart attack right there and now.
'Ok, Toma. Sako replied, as a way to strike back.
"See ya. "
Hiiragi left the room, not wanting his now boyfriend to see how his first name coming from his mouth hit him to the core. And he would have to deal with the consequences before going back to Furin.
