The Alley Update

Blade and Marigold-Jan 17,2022

Joker's New Girl

So perhaps you guys heard of the Harley Quinn knockoff that's known as Punchline. We've been requested a bunch of times to review her, but we decided to wait until Blade got out of prison before writing on it, considering that between them and Blade, they seem to have the most info on her. Punchline, AKA Alexis Kaye, is Joker's new sidekick...Read More

ifionlyhadabrain Richie Wayne I've recently started as a barista in Bludhaven(I am still not over the name), and a man came in with a boy who's around the same age as one of my younger friends. My coworkers were excited to see them. I suppose they are popular around this area, though I admit I did not care much for learning about any of the rich. I have bigger issues to attend to. With that, is it possible that I can marry Richard Wayne? He actually smiled at me when I took his order. I didn't know people here knew how to do that! nd #whyishesohot#marryme #TheWaynes 5017 notes

Bludhaven

Blade was not the type to willingly travel to Bludhaven. It's not that it was that bad of a place compared to Crime Alley, but she just wasn't familiar enough with it to feel comfortable there. In the Alley, she has hundreds of designated spots for many reasons. For example, the dumpster in the alley near Green Ave usually had better quality food. Or the Deli shop on 17th that gave her a free sandwich sometimes after she prevented the place from getting robbed this one time.

Then there was also the safehouse that Hood keeps reserved specifically for the street kids, especially during winter. It’s definitely the most secure place to stay at, but she doesn’t show up there often. She'd much rather that the younger kids get those resources.

But the point remains that it's not common for her to show up in Bludhaven, which is why she shouldn't be surprised to see Carousel pointing a knife at her after randomly showing up at her apartment.

"What did you do?" Leave it to Carrie to get straight to the point. The older girl pushes her inside, double-checking to make sure no one's watching them. If it were the other two who were visiting, she probably wouldn't worry too much about someone seeing them. But the other two also aren't wanted dead by at least three people at any given time

"Visiting my Best Friend?"

"It is two in the morning."

"Don't pretend you were asleep." Blade can’t exactly act like she has the best sleep schedule either, and she doesn’t even have an actual job. The thing about sleeping on the streets is that you only sleep when you’re safe. Which isn’t often where she lives, and even less often when you’re her.

“What. Did. You. Do?”

“NOTHING! Damn. It’s just cold out, alright?”

She hates the way that Carousel’s face shifts into one of pity. Now she’ll feel obligated to help her friend in this time of need.

“What happened?” Carousel moves to sit on her couch, a large Nighwing blanket thrown on it. She partially runs her hand through her thick, coily hair, her fingers quickly getting caught in the tangles. Blade recalls having stolen found the blanket to give to Carrie for surviving an entire year in Gotham. “Are you hurt?”

Blade shakes her head. “Ma owes a lot of people a lot of money.” More money than usual, which means that her lovely daughter will be the one who pays off the debt.

“They are looking for her?” Blade had never heard of Haiti before meeting Carousel. Truthfully, she didn’t have much care for the country beyond the fact that it had produced the older girl. It’s not often that people move into Gotham, so she always found herself enticed by the girl’s accent.

Blade chuckles darkly. “ Looking for her? Of course not. She put me up as collateral. They’re looking for me

“Bon lapenn…” She drops her head in her hands. “Please tell me you have a plan.”

“Obviously. It’s ‘don’t die'.”

Despite what Blade seems to think, Marigold doesn’t have much of a problem with working alongside Spider. The problems mostly arise whenever they are near each other in a non-professional setting.
It’d be easier to get Blade to investigate with him, but Blade was only able to be found if she answered her phone, something she had not been doing since being released back onto the streets to conjure up ways to murder whoever would try their luck with her. She rarely replied as was, but usually, if he was persistent enough, he'd receive an emoji flipping him off, which meant that she was undoubtedly involved in something messy. If it was bad enough, Carousel would call him for help, considering that Blade usually ran to her for help.

It wasn't too much of a loss. To use the word investigating would be a stretch with Blade. She didn't get her hands dirty in anything he had planned, only told him everything she'd heard through the grapevine and directed him to other sources. She was useful, though. The homeless friend who seems to know about everything that goes on in this godforsaken city.

“This better be good.” Spider declares immediately after entering the car. He combs his fingers through his hair as if he had only just woken up. Well, considering it was only 4 AM, he supposed that would make the most sense. Unfortunately, Spider wasn't from Gotham, which the younger boy was always glad for, but it was Marigold who'd have to make the drive to and from Queens whenever he needed Spider in person. “You said you have information about a cult?”

Thank you, Spider, for not even attempting small talk. Awkward conversations were not something either of them wanted to deal with for the next 45 or so minutes.

He nods at the boy in the seat next to him. “Sewer cult.”

As absurd as it sounded, the only people who ever went underground were either severely underpaid, considering the risk of Killer Croc, or they were up to something. Spider would probably suggest against putting it on the blog, but this would be the best way to get some attention heading their way.

For a city that always has something happening, there’s no point in reporting whatever the Rouges are doing. The people want scandals, for the rich to be miserable for once, and maybe even a few high-profile deaths. The only way to report on the interesting things would be for him to walk into the lion’s den. Vigilante gossip wouldn’t cut it if he was planning on becoming something big. He didn’t know what it would be yet, but he knew he was born for getting into people’s business.

“Fantastic. And you believe Batman doesn’t know about this?” Spider drops his face into his hands, groaning softly. Spider had been the most reluctant person to

“Of course he does. I think. I’m more interested in revealing who they are. Put their identities out for the world to see.” Root out corruption and perhaps gain more followers. A win in his book.

I’d much rather not get involved. Is this kidnapping?” Spider digs his finger into Marigold’s ribs. “I haven’t graduated yet. I don’t want to ruin my chances of college by getting involved with you.”

“Don’t worry. Worst-case scenario is getting killed, so I wouldn’t worry too much about a ruined future.”

It was only Friday, so Spider should be back home without having to miss school. "Where do your parents think you are?"

"Friend's house. They're covering for me." He has friends?

"What the hell are we looking at?” Marigold tosses a file onto his lap, papers stuffed into it completely disheveled.

“Court of Owls.” He bites his bottom lip to keep a smirk from growing on his face. He'd been aware of an old legend about them, although it wasn't until he began frequenting his parents' parties now that he was 'old enough to learn responsibilities' that he had found himself hearing about 'The Court' more often. Luckily for him, his parents were hosting another one of their parties tomorrow tonight actually. "Rich people who want to control Gotham."

"So the average rich Gothamite?"

"Through murder, though."

"My point doesn't change.
