Well I don’t think that’s the case(Something is wrong and it’s all your fault)

Work Text:

Fog. It’s a thing that can be applicable to a lot of things. For instance, it can be used to describe a cloud that’s covering a portion of the earth, it can be used in expressions, it can be used for symbolism, and it can also be used to describe your brain when you’re sitting at your desk after everyone else has left but you’re there because you’re one of those people who does overtime to make sure everything is working for tomorrow.

The last one would be apt to describe David Ramao. He stretched in his chair, and let out a groan.

He then felt a jolt of pain in his arm, and gripped onto his cane.

Damnit, he should have never done overtime. It’s dark, the shadows on the walls look strange, and there’s a door directly in front of his desk.

Wait, a door in front of his desk?

That wasn’t there before. And if it was, it wouldn’t be so yellow that he could swear his eyes were burning.

Then the door opened, and he saw

Someone he didn’t know at all

Someone he didn’t want to know

Someone he knew too well

A blond man whose hair fell in unnatural curls

Another blond man whose hair was far too straight

A woman whose hair has become curlier than the last time he saw her

The Unfamiliar

The Other Him

The Friend

The Distortion

The Doctor

And The One Who Was Never Meant To Be Like This

He realized he had been staring, and cleared his throat. “Welcome to Deceit Housing. How can I help you today?”

Christ, Deceit Housing. No wonder this place provides prime Spiral bait.

”Oh, you don’t need to help us. We need to help you.” The Doctor replied, shooting David a smile that he knew would be in his nightmares for weeks.

“…Right. And the helping will be?”

”Letting you join us, of course. After all, the Doctor can’t take care of everyone in Wonderland House all by himself, can he?” Helen clarified, and she looked too much like the Helen David knew when she did.

”Oh. Well, sorry for the inconvenience, but I don’t think I’ll be joining you. Now, don’t get me wrong, this seems like a..” David trailed off as he tried to say something nice about the group “..Unique group, but I’m not sure if I’ll fit in.”

The Doctor then stared at him disapprovingly. “Micheal, Helen, you know what to do.” He said, coldly. He left through the door after he did.

David was then grabbed by the chin by a hand that was too similar to the vase oh god oh shit not the vase not there he can’t be there again please please please and he was thrown back into the halls.

Voices that were oh so wrong yet oh so right called his name and

He didn’t know up from down or left from right

He just needed to keep running, even though he was in pain

But running hurt and everything hurt and he hated it he hated it he hated it

Please god let me out

I can’t do this anymore

I need to get home

When he stopped running, he was back in his bed, with the man he loved beside him.

He took a shaky breath, and looked at his eyes in the mirror.

They looked wrong, but he decided to ignore that.

He wouldn’t be telling André about this. He’d get too worried about his mental state, and David didn’t want him worrying.

So he got into bed, gave André a kiss on the forehead, and fell asleep.

He did have a nightmare, of course. But he wouldn’t be telling anyone.

He wouldn’t be telling anyone anything about the horrors he experienced anymore.

Because he was overreacting. And he didn’t want anyone worrying when he was only overreacting.

He’d die if they did.
