"The new hire is already late.." Vincent grumbled in annoyance as he stood with his arms crossed. Though it wasn't long before Emily, the new hire, came in. "I'm so sorry I'm late, Vincey!" she said with a pout. "My car wouldn't start, so I had to walk here." She said this as if she wanted Vincent to comfort her, but instead, he was cold and unmoved. "That's no excuse. You could have used the bus or taxi to get here," he paused before using Rody and Kenji as examples.
"Rody here uses a bike despite having no car or money to drive. And Kenji, here, is still a college student who walked here an hour earlier. But for you, as a new hire and an adult, it is late for the first day of work, and you expect an excuse to work? Yes, Rody was late once. But that's different compared to you. He has a reason: it was raining AND he had to bike here without an umbrella. While for you, it's sunny and a nice day, yet you couldn't have gotten up and come earlier? Unbelievable first impression." Vincent said coldly. Emily was shocked that he said that in such a firm tone to her.
"What!.. But why..??" She sputtered out, baffled. "I already told you why, Emily. If you were listening, you would know. Now I don't have time for you, so go to Rody to show you how to do stuff around here." Vincent said firmly, but said Rody's name somewhat softer before he walked away and into the kitchen. Rody and Kenji approved her. "Hello! You must be Emily! I'm Rody. Nice to meet you," Rody said kindly despite overhearing the earlier conversation. "And I'm Kenji," he said calmly. Not really interested in Emily, but not wanting to be rude, even though he already knew it was going to be a pain with her here.
"Uhm. I'm Emily.." She said, somewhat annoyed that Vincent had left. Kenji glanced at Rody with a look that said, 'of course, her name is Emily,' which made Rody give a small chuckle that he tried to hold back. Emily noticed this and raised a brow in annoyance. "What are you laughing about, huh?" she eyed Rody and Kenji. Her tone was still harsher and different from how she talked to Vincent earlier. "Nothing. just an inside joke." Kenji said with a small smirk but feigned innocence. Emily scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, okay," she said before noticing Vincent came back into the room and changed her attitude.
"Vincie~..! They're making fun of me," she said in a whiny tone. Vincent just groaned in annoyance due to her whiny tone. "So? ignore them," he said with a sigh. "Just get out of my face and go change into uniform in the changing room, since you didn't even come ready for work," he said, annoyed, which made Emily pout before she stormed away to the changing room in the bathrooms.
