It's different in every universe. But nontheless, they are bound to meet each other.
"Mafuyu, it's embarrassing... Stop staring at me..." Kanade whispered, feeling Mafuyu's gaze on her.
"You're the one that cast a spell on me." Mafuyu said as she placed her hand on Kanade's.
"Take a break for a little while?"
"I swear, I'm fine Mizuki. I need to finish my art." Ena said as she tried to escape Mizuki's hug.
"Eh~ But I haven't seen you for so long! Just a short break, Ena." Mizuki and Ena stayed in the hug for a while, before Mizuki quietly whispered, "Don't say you're going to drink bleach. I don't like those jokes."
"Of course not. Do you want to go shopping? I saw a really cute clothes shop at the mall."
"Shopping? To buy your clothes?" Kanade hummed. Mafuyu shook her head.
"No, we're buying you your own sweater. I want my sweater back." Mafuyu said dryly. Kanade was wearing her sweater again, refusing to take it off. Kanade looked disappointed, but looked up at her girlfriend.
"Then, can you hug me?"
"Of course. Come here." Mafuyu said, she was changed into her human form and dipped into the water to hug Kanade. The mermaid smiled contently.
"It's nice to be in paradise." Kanade whispered.
"Hmm. Yeah." Mafuyu hummed and leaned in to kiss Kanade.
They broke the kiss and sighed contently.
"Do you think we give bad advice?" Kanade asked. The best way to sleep was just staying awake for days, right?
"I think the synthesizer would have been effective." Mafuyu said, and Kanade winced.
"I don't think that was a good idea, Mafuyu..."
"Maybe. It's been a while since we went on a date. Do you want to have one?"
Kanade nervously pulled at her sleeves. She had agreed on a date with Mafuyu, and now she was waiting outside of the family restaurant.
How could I have been so dense? Mafuyu felt the same way as me this whole time... Kanade thought. Mafuyu approached Kanade.
"Did you wait for long?" Mafuyu asked. Kanade smiled softly, glad that she was going on a date with Mafuyu.
"No, you're just on time. Let's go inside."
"You first." Mafuyu said as she held the door to the convinience store. Kanade gladly walked inside, getting her hands on the cup noodles.
"I don't think that's good for you, Kanade." Mafuyu sighed, but Kanade didn't hear her. Mafuyu crossed her arms, tapping her fingers on her elbow.
"My mother didn't come to school today." Mafuyu commented quietly. Kanade stopped for a moment, before looking up at Mafuyu.
"How do you feel about it?" Kanade asked.
"A little relieved. I'm not ready to face her yet." Mafuyu answered. Her face contained a swirl of emotions, until Kanade gently placed her hand on hers.
"As long as you're happy, Mafuyu. That's all that matters to me."
"Yours, as well. I want you to care about your health." Mafuyu said as she cooked Kanade's salisbury steak. Kanade nodded, thinking back to the dream with her mother.
Was it a dream? It certainly wasn't real... Kanade stared at Mafuyu, who was busy cooking Kanade's food. It reminded her of when her mother used to cook for her.
I'll take care of myself, mom... Don't worry.
"Here. Drink some water while you read that." Mafuyu said as she handed a cup of water to Kanade. Kanade was still fully immersed in the manga she started a week ago. They had agreed to have a 'No Internet Day' every week, just to give Kanade a break.
"Thank you." Kanade said, and gave Mafuyu a quick kiss. Mafuyu decided to get comfortable and turned on the TV, scrolling for stuff to watch.
"Do you want to watch a movie?"
"Ah, I'd love to, but I'm worried about your hearing..." Kanade whispered, thinking about Mafuyu's sensitive hearing.
"I'll just put on headphones, like last time." Mafuyu said, and took Kanade's hand, gently kissing it.
"And I'll be fine if you're there. I'm fine as long as I'm with you."
In every universe, they were together. As friends, as lovers, spouses, villain and hero, prince and princess. They did everything together, and no matter what they did, they were bound to meet each other. Kanade and Mafuyu, and Ena and Mizuki would always be together.
