Chapter Text
A year passed and Kitty is now in her second year of university. Her and Min Ho are doing better than ever and have now been dating for exactly two years.
To them it's crazy to even think about. Most relationships don't survive out of high school but they beat the odds, even with everyone telling them that they weren't a good match. They proved everyone wrong and made it work.
Even though Kitty previously had been with Dae for four years, it never seemed like a big deal. But her and Min Ho being together for two years was a big deal, to the both of them.
It was Min Ho's longest relationship and its proof that there was someone out there who would love him and Kitty has shown him exactly that. And as for Kitty she never thought she would end up with him but the universe chose other wise and she is glad it did.
As promised, Min Ho has been visiting Kitty every weekend for three day and she visits him once a week at seoul on a weekday. Though sometimes they do rotate it but usually he comes down, much to Kitty's annoyance but she loves how much of an effort he puts in.
They call and text almost every day. More like every six days as they need at least one day that is free of distractions as they actually do need to study.
Boys and Girls every now and then flirt with Kitty but she tells them to back off, telling them about her annoying jealous boyfriend. Because as much as Min Ho tries to deny it, he does get jealous at times.
Girls always flirt with Min Ho which annoys her but he tells them that he's happily taken and how much he loves his girlfriend and also because she sometimes scares him. Kitty is brutal and scary when she is jealous, especially over Min Ho.
They tell each other over the phone and over text whenever someone does flirt as between them two, there are no secrets.
Kitty and Min Ho are doing everything, everything that they didn't do in their previous relationships. Honesty and truth.
The friendship group has been going well. Better than ever, despite almost everyone being at different cities, countries and schools. The friendship group is still there.
As Kitty predicted, everything in the friend group did change but that wasn't such a bad thing. It became something beautiful.
Things changed.
It was the weekend after the first week of their second year in college, Q and Jin had returned to Seoul to visit their friends as it's been a while.
The gang were at their favourite cafe shop, the same one that they always went to when they were still attending KISS.
"I'm so glad you guys could come a visit." Kitty spoke out loud.
Q glanced at her as he gave her a quick smile. "Me too, it's been way too long."
"Way too long." Jin echoed.
"So how's the US?" Yuri asked as she looked up at them.
Jin swallowed. "It's good actually."
"But Americans are insane." Q added.
Kitty smirked. "I did warn you."
Q chuckled there lightly as he cleared his throat. "But enough about us, I want to know about the rest of you, how have you been?"
"I've been good, music has been incredible." Dae said.
Eunice smiled. "I've been great."
Yuri was finally in a good spot which is something she has not felt in a while. "I'm good, which I haven't felt in a while."
"I'm good." Julianna replied.
Q then gestered to Kitty and Min Ho. "And what about you two? How are things on the mooncovey front?"
Kitty smiled. "We are great."
Min Ho dropped his arm around her shoulder. "Never better."
"And never use that ship name in public." Min Ho giggled.
Q stared at them, shocked. "Excuse me but it's a great ship name. It's cute."
"Yeah, okay." Min Ho chuckled there lightly.
Julianna nudged Q by the arm. "Isn't it crazy that those two weirdos have been together for two years already."
Q nodded his head. "Feels like it was only yesterday."
It did feel just like yesterday. A lot has changed since then.
"Dang two years together is crazy. Two years with being with you, you dummy." Kitty teased.
Min Ho chuckled as he stared at her. "Two years of you irritating me."
Kitty bit her lip. "Oh you love it."
Min Ho scoffed. "Will not accept or deny."
Kitty nudged him on the arm.
Min Ho complained. "Oww Covey."
"And you guys? How are you and Jin doing?" Kitty asked as she looked at Q.
Q smiled at her. "We are the best."
Kitty was so happy for her best friend. "Happy for you guys."
Once the drinks came, Kitty looked over at Yuri who told her something that made her scream. "You're kidding!"
Yuri smirked. "No I'm not. Professor Lee, well I mean Daniel and my mom are getting married!"
"Shut up!" Kitty shouted, amused.
Min Ho rolled his eyes. "Covey will you stop pulling my arm."
"Sorry, but I can't believe it!" Kitty eyes beamed.
Yuri was so happy that her mom had found the one. Daniel was a lot better than her father, for sure. "First love kinda works sometimes."
"I happen to know something about it." Yuri finished as she looked over at Julianna who smiled at her back.
Then as they all were engaging in conversations with one another Min Ho's phone lit up with a notification. A text in fact.
Min Ho took his phone in his hand, rolled his eyes at the message and then put his phone down on the table.
Kitty who was sitting next to him turned her head around to face him. "So she's still texting you even though you rejected her."
Min Ho's eyes met Kitty's for a second. "Covey, you know I can't do anything about it right. I told her no she just isn't taking no as an answer."
"Right but she knows you aren't single right?" Kitty asked him.
"Obviously. It doesn't even matter anyway." Min Ho explained.
Kitty pouted her lips. "I know it just sucks that everyone at college seems to want you and there's nothing I can do about it as we are at different universities."
"I know Covey. But we can't do anything about it and it doesn't matter because I chose you. Only you, you know that right." He said as he smiled up at her.
Kitty nodded her head. "Yeah I do."
Min Ho smiled at her as he pulled her into his chest and he circled patterns on her shoulders as he rubbed her arms. "Good."
"Isn't it crazy how much things have changed." Q muttered as he looked at all friends.
The rest of the gang smiled.
Kitty sighed as a smile began to form. "But in the best way possible."
Dae nodded his head. "Agreed."
"I agree with my dae bae." Eunice added as she smiled up at Dae and he took her hand in his.
Min Ho took a quick glance at Kitty. "I will never not think that's cringe." He muttered underneath his breath.
This made Kitty giggle.
"So how are Alex and Jiwan doing?" Dae asked as he gestered towards Yuri.
Yuri gave him a small smile. "They are doing great. They are so happy."
"Yeah, we still on for dinner on friday with them right?" Kitty asked.
Yuri chuckled. "Duh Kitty."
"So Kitty how do you guys navigate long distance?" Julianna asked.
Kitty sighed. It was hard but they make it work. "It's hard but we either call or text almost everyday and visit each other on the weekends. We are lucky to be only 2 hours apart by train."
Min took her hand in his. "It can be hard to not be there all the time but we make it work."
Q giggled. "Of course it would work, it's you guys. But also how do your friends or people on campus react to seeing you together?"
"They know they have competition." Min Ho said.
It was true as there were a lot of people that would flirt with him and Kitty at their individual University's.
Kitty cleared her throat. "But most of the time everyone is suprised as for them it's unusual for high school relationships to last through to university."
"I can't tell you how many times I have had people at uni tell me that oh your high school relationship won't work out." Kitty admitted.
Min Ho rolled his eyes. "Yeah it's annoying when they do that. But we've proven them wrong."
"But also we were eighteen when we first got together, it's not like we were sixteen. That's like Lara Jean." Kitty admitted.
"Yeah but it's hard just like all our long distance friendships are." Min Ho told them.
Then Julianna looked at Kitty with curiosity. "You go to school with the Ohio Weirdo right, how is that?"
Min Ho smirked. "You guys still call her that? it's been like 2 and a half years already."
"We are petty like that." Kitty muttered.
"And I don't really see her much which is good but from what I've seen from when I do see her she has a boyfriend. Apparently he's all innocent and a Christian." Kitty told Julianna.
Julianna was feeling amused. "Huh, makes sense."
"And Choon Hee?" Julianna asked.
Kitty smiled. "She's good, I see her all the time and we've become great friends. She's happy, the happiest I've ever seen her as now she is away from her parents."
Yuri smiled. "She deserves it."
Min Ho agreed.
Min Ho's phone lit up, a call from his dad to which he ignored.
Min Ho scoffed.
Kitty looked at her boyfriend as she nudged him on the arm. "Do you ever think you will speak to him again?"
Min Ho shook his head.
"Maybe he might have changed." Kitty told him.
Min Ho raised an eyebrow. "Covey he's incapable of change. And it's been a year since we last spoke and I really don't want to see him again as it would just reopen old wounds that are still healing."
Kitty rubbed her thumb against his cheek as she smiled at him. "Yeah your right."
"I hope one day he will understand why you did what you did." Kitty said.
Min Ho nodded his head. "Me too."
Later that evening they all were in Min Ho's dorm, close to his campus. His roommates were out so it was just Min Ho, Kitty and the gang just hanging out in the living room space, watching a movie.
Everyone was sitting on the sofa and some were on the floor below the rest.
Q was having a conversation with Kitty when his eyes widened. "I don't get it so Marius ended up going to the same university as you in Busan instead of the states?"
"I know right. I see him on campus all the time." Kitty replied.
"So you guys are friends but did he ask about me?" Q asked.
Jin glared at him. "Hey!"
Q giggled. "Just kidding."
"No he's been cool. I think he regrets what he did to you and he's moved on. He's actually been more chill though and he hasn't been on any dates at all." Kitty admitted.
Min Ho glanced up at her. "So his playboy era is over? that's new."
"I know right." Kitty said.
Q smirked. "Just be careful don't ever get too close to him as he has a thing with fallen for taken people."
"Hey! don't put that out there in the universe." Min Ho hit him on the arm.
Q put his arms up to defend himself. "I was just kidding."
Kitty glared at him. "I know who he is Q. He does not like me like that and I don't need any love drama. Senior year was bad enough."
"Just warning you." Q admitted.
"I know." Kitty replied.
Q who was leaning against Jin looked up at him. "Man I really don't want to go back."
Kitty raised an eyebrow. "I thought you liked it there."
Q scratched his head. The truth is that it wasn't the best. "I do but nobody understands me there. I miss you lot. I miss living in the dorm with Min Ho and Dae, my best friends. And I even miss you and Min Ho making out all the time and me walking in on you two."
"Of course you miss me. This face is hard to forget." Min Ho teased.
Kitty shook her head. "Don't let it get to your head."
"Oh Covey love but who wouldn't miss this face." He laughed.
"Sure." She giggled.
"We miss you too, especially me. Now I'm stuck with this one annoying me every weekend and I don't have anyone to vent to about how annoying he is." Kitty teased.
Min Ho glared at her. "Excuse me but you love it."
Kitty tilted her head up. "As if!"
Min Ho bit his lip. "You do."
Kitty chuckled as a smile form. "God your so annoying."
Min Ho patted her on the head. "Likewise."
Q chuckled as he watched his two best friends bicker and laugh. "I even miss you two bickering."
"At least that is something that hasn't changed. You guys bickering and annoyance of each other." Dae admitted as he looked at them both.
Dae two years ago could not imagine being where he is now, knowing that Min Ho and Kitty are dating and being supportive of it.
But he's glad that they all made it through and they are best friends.
"Duh!" Both Kitty and Min Ho said at the same time as they both entered into a laugh.
The weekend was over and now Kitty was back at Pusan National University in Busan.
She and Choon Hee were on campus, heading to class when they spotted Marius.
Choon Hee was also doing journalism as she believes everyone has a story to tell and so maybe this may help her find to the courage to one day tell hers. Her story with growing up with a narcissist mother and a abusive father.
Marius spotted them as he started to walk towards them. "Kitty, Choon Hee hey."
"Marius." Choon Hee and Kitty both said at the same time.
Marius glanced up at Kitty for a second. "Are you doing anything this weekend?"
Kitty shook her head. "No, why you ask?"
Choon Hee looked up at him. "I thought you were having that date with that girl or guy this weekend."
Marius scratched his head. "Yeah I cancelled. I wasn't feeling it."
"There's this new cafe that just opened that I've been dying to try, wanna try it with me? and a few of my other friends are coming too." Marius smiled up at Kitty.
Kitty smiled back. "Sure."
Choon Hee cleared her throat.
Marius turned his head around to face her. "Oh yeah, you should come too."
"I will." Choon Hee replied.
Marius smirked. "Well I will see you girls later. Bye."
Marius then began to walk away and as he did, Kitty and Choon Hee continued to walk to class when Choon Hee stopped in her path to look at Kitty. "That was weird." Choon Hee admitted.
Kitty sruntched her eyes. "What's weird?"
"Marius, come on Kitty you can't be that blind to see that he was totally flirting with you." Choon He stated.
Kitty rolled her eyes. "No he was not."
"He totally was." Choon Hee told her.
Kitty's eyes widened. "Choon Hee you can't say stuff like that without any evidence. Because if he does it will cause problems with me and Min Ho and I don't need me and him to have any drama as senior year was bad enough."
Choon Hee placed a hand on Kitty's shoulder. "Sorry but I just think that you should just be careful around him."
"I may be wrong but I may also be right. Otherwise why else does he always ask you to hang out with his friends." Choon Hee folded her arms as she looked at Kitty.
"I don't know. And we are just friends." Kitty told her.
"Yes but does he know that?" Choon Hee asked.
Kitty was silent.
Choon Hee didn't want to upset her but she got the feeling like Marius did like Kitty with the way he acts around her. "Just something to think about."
"Come on let's go to class." Kitty said as she pulled Choon Hee by the arm and they made their way to class.
Kitty did not believe Choon Hee but Kitty would be lying if she said that she didn't suspect that Marius has been a bit too kind and less sassy lately. In fact he has been acting this way since a year ago.
But Kitty doesn't need anymore drama in her life as she is almost twenty and she is done with teenage drama.
She is probably just overthinking it so Kitty just brushed that feeling to the side.
She has her priorities straight.
Get good grades, focus on school, her friendships and her relationship with Min Ho and whatever challenges come she will figure it out on the way.
She is Kitty Song Covey and there is nothing that can get in her way.
