His breathing was always so soft when he slept. The dark circles surrounding his eyes seemed to fade slightly with each nap, but those were rare. Viktor enjoyed being cooped up in his lab no matter how many times Jane scolded him about it. She couldn’t be too mad, though, since it was something he was so passionate about. That passion was something she loved about him, and it sparked even in their relationship. But it was a softer passion, not glowing as brightly as his one for Hextech, but it burned just as strong and even more steady.

Her fingers ghosted over his pale skin, tracing the light blemishes that dusted his cheeks and the darker freckles. His legs were tangled with hers, and he was mostly undressed under the covers. His bare skin against hers was freezing, and Jane knew the heat she radiated was warming him. A tired sigh escaped him in his sleep as she traced a smile line on the corner of his mouth. She loved his smile, and it gave her butterflies every time. It had since they were children. It was a little crooked and didn’t entirely reach his eyes, but it was his smile, and what more could she ask for? It was already perfection. Was it even possible to make something more perfect? In his opinion, yes, anything can be improved, even perfection. But Jane argued nothing is better than perfect, and that he is perfect. It always ended with him giving her a playful eye roll as she peppered his cheek in kisses.

She twirled a strand of his hair with her finger, gently nuzzling her nose into the bridge of his, and his body leaned into her more. Her lips carefully trailed feather-light kissed up his nose and to his forehead, her boyfriend being none the wiser. He was too far off into slumber, Hextech filling his dreams as he even solved equations in his sleep. Or so he told Jayce once when he woke up early one morning claiming he had the solution to a problem they spent a week and a half figuring out. Jayce called bullshit, saying Viktor had stayed up all night trying to figure it out. The jury was still out, and no one could verify Viktor’s dream or if he stashed away a notebook he scribbled in the whole night for the answer.

These moments felt like few and far between lately with all that was going on, but it was nice to know Viktor still leaned into her touch no matter what. He still couldn’t get enough of her, and her of him. He still blushed deeply and looked away bashfully whenever she reminded him that he was her first love. He never could have imagined himself being someone’s first love, but Jane never hesitated to show how much she adored him. Viktor only hoped he could show her even a fraction of that love.

“When’d you get here?” he mumbled, words slurring with sleep. He didn’t move his head from its position, and instead she tucked it under her chin.

Jane hummed softly, fingers stroking his hair. He loved when she did that. “You looked too cute to nap alone.”

A low hum vibrated from his throat before he replied. “I appreciate the warmth.”

“You were also cold. I put the blanket over you.”

“Thank you for that, my sweet. I feel very warm now.”

“How did you sleep?”

“Good. I seemed to have fallen into a deeper sleep than intended, but I feel like that is thanks to you.” He chuckled, smiling as he pressed small pecks against her neck. “You always know how to make me feel most comfortable.”

“Cuddles always seem to do just the trick,” she said, satisfied. He already seemed much more relaxed than earlier in the day. Apparently he accidentally snapped at Jayce in the lab. He just needed a nice nap.

The door to the room opened and Jayce stood in the doorway, a small pout on his face as his eyes scanned over the cuddling forms of Viktor and Jane. They were having a cuddling session? Without him? He crossed his arms, looking like an overgrown petulant child. “Why wasn’t I invited to the cuddling rendezvous?” he whined, and Viktor craned his neck to look at his boyfriend. A small, amused smile was already forming on Jane’s lips.

“I was napping. Jane joined me,” Viktor told him simply, eyes still heavy with sleep. “Get in here if you want to snuggle so damn bad.”

As soon as the invitation left Viktor’s mouth, Jayce was kicking off his shoes and undressing into something more comfortable before crawling in under the covers behind Viktor. He spooned the smaller man from behind, wedging his arm under Viktor’s waist but draping his other over both of them, hand resting on Jane’s back as he pulled them both closer. According to Jayce, his arm didn’t get tired because of all the muscle.

Jane laughed at his eagerness, reaching past Viktor to caress Jayce’s cheek. “You’re so needy,” she teased.

“I need love too!” he told her jokingly, resting his chin on Viktor’s head. “Wow, Vik, since when did you get so warm?”

“Actually all of that body heat is courtesy of me,” Jane corrected with a playful shake of the head. “At least give me credit for all of my body’s hard work.”

“I didn’t say anything!” Viktor defended, laughing at her. “Did I say anything?” he asked Jayce, who shook his head.

“No, but you did steal her body heat.”

“It’s not stealing if he’s in desperate need of it and I provided,” Jane added.

“Oh so it’s a hand-out?” Viktor asked in mock offense.

“I could’ve let you freeze to death,” she retorted with a grin.

A small snore left Jayce and Viktor gave their girlfriend an amused look. “I think we’ve bored him, don’t you?”

“How dare he find us boring!” Jane exclaimed, pouting jokingly as she reached up to poke Jayce’s head. He didn’t respond, still quiet and asleep despite his partners feigning offense.

“He had a long night in the lab,” Viktor excused.

“I could tell by his lack of presence in bed last night,” she whispered, not wanting to wake up Jayce. Hextech was his and Viktor’s dream, but sometimes they focused too much on it and not themselves. She was trying to convince them to put a cot in the lab so they could at least take naps somewhere that wouldn’t leave them sore or destroy their necks. Mel was often teasing Jayce he was getting a hunch. “Maybe you two should start taking breaks more often. Sleep deprivation is not good for Piltover’s top geniuses.”

“We’ve been managing,” Viktor began to excuse, but his eyes scanned hers and he saw the hint of genuine worry, not just the normal concern. He sighed. “I will try to convince him. I make no promises.”

“As long as we all go to bed together,” she insisted, kissing the freckle on his face.

The door to the bedroom opened again, and Mel walked in, hands on her hips. It was the last place she was checking before sending the Enforcers on a search. Her shoulders relaxed when she saw her partners in a cuddle pile before her brows furrowed. She walked towards the bed, her arms shifting to fold over her chest.

“What is this?” she asked quietly, noting Jayce’s sleeping form that was snoring softly. He was pushed against Viktor’s back, arm draped over like a weighted blanket.

“We’re cuddling,” Jane told her simply with a cheeky grin.

“It’s the middle of the day,” Mel lightly scolded, though melting at the sight of how cute the three looked. It was very enticing. “We have so much work to do.”

Viktor playfully rolled his eyes at her. “Oh, just join us!”

Mel hummed, easily convinced as she carefully undid her hair so her braids fell to her shoulders. She walked towards the bed, sitting on the end of it to take her shoes off before laying beside Jane. She tucked herself against her girlfriend’s back, chuckling as Jane wiggled a little to press herself closer to Mel. The councilwoman draped her arm over Jane to gently take Viktor’s hand and entangle their fingers. She was surprised by the heat radiating from him and couldn’t help but comment.

“Viktor, you’re very warm,” she exclaimed quietly.

He chuckled, recalling Jayce’s words moments ago. “Oh I know. It’s all thanks to Jane.”

“Yes.” Mel nodded in understanding, burying her face in Jane’s shirt. “She is a furnace. It’s very soothing.”

“Isn’t it?” Viktor said, letting his eyes flutter shut.

“I’m so glad you two are happy to sap me of my body heat,” Jane told them playfully, being able to feel Mel grow more and more relaxed. It wouldn’t be long before she was asleep too. Viktor already seemed to be drifting off as well. The sleep would be good for all of them.

“Always,” Mel and Viktor teased at the same time.
