Work Text:

“Looks great even if I do say so myself!“

Alex having finished building the bookcase with several padded nooks for the couple’s new baby to hide in. The wee kit they called Dot.

Yeah it was Dot’s nickname for sure, the real name yet to be revealed. As Dot loved to chase the red laser dots his parents played with him. Zeb often enough participating as well. Go figure!

(They’re cats, sort of.)

But the shelving was now finally completed and Alex wanted Zeb and Dot to see it. Perhaps Dot even trying it out! It was mostly built for the wee one as the couple really did not have that many books or other nicknacks to put in it. Not yet they didn’t.

“Zeb, honey! The build is completed!” Alex tried to holler.

Alas, there was no response.

“Dot?”

Usually the two of them came rushing out whenever Alex called for them. Usually expecting a treat of any kind. Dot some cookies and Zeb, well, a kiss for sure.

Alex looked a tad baffled for a spell. But then he noticed something having glanced around the area of the living room. The cardboard box the timber had arrived in had vanished, completely gone.

Alex searched the whole of their dwelling finally landing in Dot’s room. Glancing through the door.

What Alex found there, certainly melted his heart.

As both father and son, now on top of Zeb, were lying inside the all too small cardboard box snoring away. Content like it was the best place ever to sleep inside of. Perhaps it was that too!

Alex grabbed a few blankets and covered his sleeping beauties. Taking a seat in the recliner chair there close to his precious ones, with his own blanket covering him Alex joined in the nap.

The new furniture simply would have to wait for inspection at a later point. As this was precious family time Alex would not want to miss on at any cost!
