It had been a week since Aizawa had taken in the small and timid Eri, she was still hesitant around him and Hizashi but she was getting there. She had grown fond of the room they had given her, it had warm bedding with soft blankets and many stuffed toys. It even had some old All might plushies Izuku had given her that had brought out one of those rare smiles that he had secretly grown very attached to.
One night he was in bed with Hizashi, curled in each other's embrace when he heard it.. a small muffled wailing from the room next door. He jumps up from the bed and rushes to the room that Eri had been tucked into a few hours ago before opening the door. The sight that treated him made his usually stern face card crack slightly. He approaches the bed slowly sitting down, his heart breaking even more as he hears the whimper that emerges from the small bundle of blankets, a few tuffs of pale blue hair peaking out. He slowly strokes her hair, staying silent until he feels her relax before he starts speaking.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asks his voice gruff with sleep but twinged with concern. Eri pokes her tearstained head out of the safety of her coccoun before wetly responding
"I- I had a nightmare.." she admits, her voice small and timid. It makes Aizawa's heart ache so he gently pulls her into a hug, again waiting untill she untenses once again. "Would you like to tell me what it was about?' She shakes her head so he doesn't push her to talk, he waits another moment before asking "Is there anything I can do to help?" This time she takes a moment before answering, a slight nod of her head and then a sleepy reply of "stay?" As she burries her head into the crook of his shoulder. He slightly smiles, knowing he would deny it as he pulls her closer to him, humming softly under his breath to lull her back to sleep. Their cat, bean, jumps onto the bed, also curling up to Eri, who strokes his fur as she calms down from her nightmare.
Eri snuggles closer feeling the warmth and safety that she hasn't felt in a long time. She tries to keep her eyes open, wanting to hear the end of the lullaby but she was too comfortable, too at peace to worry about what would happen if she closed her eyes so she sleepily pulls one of the All might plushies closer to her, holding it tightly to her chest before closing her eyes.
Aizawa finishes humming the song, his own eyes half open as he also drifts off to sleep, feeling overprotective of the small human that has spawned into his life. The last thing he thinks about is how he would gladly go to Tartarus if any bastard ever decided to lay a hand on his kid again.
The next morning the two are waken up when Aizawa is pulled out the bed by his ankles by Hizashi. He grumbles and glares at him but it's worth it to hear Eri's little giggles that echo around the house as she runs to the kitchen for her new favrioute food. Pancakes.
