Home Again

Resembool is a picturesque rural town located in the southeastern part of Amestris. When you set foot in Resembool, you'll feel like you've stepped into a storybook. The charming houses are scattered around the town, some of which have their paint fading due to long periods of sun exposure, giving them a rustic yet enchanting look.
As you walk along the dirt paths, you'll notice the small stone walls lining the way. Rolling green hills cover the landscape and pastures dotted with grazing sheep. The marketplace is an exciting place. Alive with enticing smells of freshly baked bread and roasted meats. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and you'll witness children running around and laughing while adults work in the fields or tend to their animals.
Resembool's natural beauty is captivating, and the town's simplicity is a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's a place where time seems to stand still, and you can truly appreciate the beauty of the world around you.
In 1907, during the Ishvalan Civil War, a group of Ishvalans destroyed the local train station due to Resembool’s military connections. The residents were able to rebuild the station, but the growth of the rural town has been hindered ever since. Not many visitors come by, so it was strange when a boy in a red trench coat jacket walked into town with a suit of armor following.
As they were leisurely strolling down the winding path, the young boy stopped abruptly, taking a moment to look around and take in his surroundings. It had been quite a while since he had last visited this place, but everything appeared to be as he remembered it.
When the boy heard a voice call to him, he thought, for a second, that it was someone else, but when he faced the voice, it was Mr. Miller, a kind shepherd. A flicker of disappointment crossed the boy's face, but he quickly smiled and greeted Mr. Miller.
“Come to grace us with your presence again, Edward?” Mr. Miller asked.
Edward chuckled, “Not this time! See you later.”
“Anxious to get somewhere? Or to get to someone?” He teased.
Edward only shrugged in response and continued on the road, absently scratching the back of his head, feeling a faint blush start to creep up his cheeks
After a few more minutes of walking, he could see Granny’s house. His home? Honestly, Edward and his brother, Alphonse, spent so much time traveling that he didn’t know what to call home anymore.
That is the reason you burnt your house down, he thought. Did he regret his decision? No. But that didn’t mean there weren't moments when he longed for a place to return to at the end of each day. A place where the aroma of hearty, homemade meals filled the air and a cozy bed awaited him.
And that’s when he saw you, and you saw him. Bright smiles lit up both of your faces as you ran towards him. And when you finally embraced him, he realized that maybe he did have a home. And perhaps that home wasn’t a house or an apartment. Maybe it was the overwhelming warmth and comfort your ever-loving arms brought him. Maybe, maybe, it was you.
“Welcome home, Ed.”
