Work Text:

“And then we add the chocolate chips and we should be good to go!” Floory finished, shutting the cookbook in his hands. “Oh, yeah, and you put them in the oven for 12 minutes after that.”

“Chocolate chips…” MePhone mumbled, dumping a cup into the dough and stirring it. “And bake. Like. The whole bowl?”

“You need to spread them out on a pan first. In uhm. Circles?” Floory opened the cookbook back up. “In balls. Then you flatten them.”

“Got it.” MePhone picked up a rubbed spatula, scooping up some of the dough and practically throwing it onto the pan. It landed with a splat in a misshapen blob. “Eh, good enough.” He repeated the process for the rest of the dough with Floory’s help, the latter putting their hand over his to help guide his movements.

After flattening the dough balls into a more cookie-like shape, the two put the pan in the oven. Pulling away, the two looked at each other with smiles, finally done with the hard part.

“Now all we have to do is wait,” MePhone said. He looked up from the oven, glancing around trying to figure out where his boyfriend went. It was to be expected of them, sneaking around and vanishing, but MePhone still hadn’t gotten used to it. “Floory?”

“Over here!” Floory called from the other room. MePhone followed his voice out into the hotel’s lobby, and Floory waved him over, patting the seat on the couch next to them. “Come on love, I saved you a seat!”

MePhone blushed at the pet name, his heart beating faster as he sat down next to Floory. The latter wrapped their arms around him, pulling him in for an embrace as he sat on the couch. “We don’t need to worry about the cookies right now, let's just enjoy our time together, okay?”

“Okay,” MePhone parroted back, too focused on the feeling of Floory’s arms around him, the warmth of him a soothing comfort that seemed to hug his very soul. His heart felt like it would pound out of his chest from the close proximity.

Sure, they had been dating for a bit now, but it still felt awkward at times. MePhone never really knew what to say, whether he should flirt or call Floory some pet names of his own or anything. Despite their own lack of experience, Floory always seemed so smooth with everything. And MePhone? MePhone was not.

“Are you alright MePhone? You’re shaking?” Floory’s words were accompanied by their hand searching for his and entangling their fingers with his own, followed by a gentle and comforting squeeze. “Do you want me to stop?”

“No-no this is… this is fine. Great even…” MePhone trailed off, unsure what to say next. Stealing his nerves, he spoke again. “Floory… am I a good boyfriend?”

“A good boyfriend? Of course you are! Why do you ask?” Floory frowned. “Is something wrong? Whatever it is, we can get through it together you know, yeah?”

“Yeah…” MePhone thought for a moment, choosing his next words wisely. “I was just… you know… wondering because… I dunno, I don’t really do as much? You put so much effort into all these things, you’re always planning activities and things for us to do and I kinda just… go along with it? And you’re so sweet and affectionate and I don’t really do much in return.”

Floory flushed and grinned. “You think I’m sweet?” He cleared his throat, coughing awkwardly. “Off topic, off topic, right. You want me to know what I really think?”

MePhone nodded, scooting just a bit closer to Floory, as if expecting him to whisper whatever came next.

“I think you’re an amazing boyfriend, that’s for sure,” Floory said, “Sure, you don’t feel as if you’re putting in as much effort as you could, but you are, and you’re trying. I know you aren’t always comfortable with affection and all that. But you’re willing to give it a try. For me.” Floory stared at MePhone with their soft, loving eyes, and MePhone just couldn’t help but feel cared for.

MePhone cracked a small grin. “I don’t know how you put up with me. You’re so nice and I’m… me.”

“Because I love you. That’s why.” MePhone felt the heat rise to his cheeks again. Ooooh, why did Floory have to be so good at this?

“I love you too,” MePhone replied before he really knew what he was saying. He paused for a moment, thinking over the words he had just said. He had never said that to Floory before. Not directly, at least. But now he did. And it felt… good.

“You’re pretty sweet too,” Floory said, burying his face into MePhone’s hair, “You’re like a cookie. A sweet cookie.”

Floory! ” MePhone replied, blushing furiously. “You’re going to kill me with all that, you know that, right?”

“I won't let that happen. Promise.” Floory responded, pressing a kiss to the top of MePhone’s head. “You’re safe with me. I won't let your own flusteredness kill you.”

“It’s you. You’re going to be the death of me if you keep this up, I swear.” MePhone dodged Floory’s attempt to kiss him on the cheek, attacking back by pecking them on the nose.

“MePhone!” Floory laughed, pressing his forehead against his boyfriends. “You really are something, huh?”

“All part of my charm,” MePhone replied with a grin. He paused, pulling away briefly and cupping Floory’s cheek, before pulling him in for a soft kiss, pulling away after a moment.

Floory was the one blushing this time around. “Wowza,” He muttered, eyes wide. MePhone snickered and pulled Floory back in for another hug.

They continued to sit there for the next few minutes, lapsing into a comfortable silence. A silence that was broken just a few moments later by the smell of smoke, burnt food, and… chocolate?

“Oh my god!” Floory shouted, jumping to his feet, with MePhone quickly following. “ We forgot to set a timer!
