"Oi! You brats, stop walking on the wet floor while I’m mopping, you dumbshits!" Levi shouted, his voice echoing off the walls of the school as a group of students scrambled away, their eyes wide with a mix of fear and embarrassment. The reputation of the janitor in this school was well-known; Levi was not someone you wanted to mess with, especially when he was in the middle of his cleaning routine.
Meanwhile, Eren had just closed his locker, the metallic sound cutting through the residual noise of the bustling hallway. He glanced over at Mikasa and Armin, who were locked in a lively debate about the ending of the recent Attack on Titan movie. Their animated voices clashed, each trying to convince the other of their interpretation. Eren felt a sudden urge to ask them about the latest rumors swirling around the school—that Levi might be dating one of the teachers. It was hard to ignore the buzz; the most beloved teacher in the school had her fair share of gossip trailing behind her, and Levi, with his well-known gruff exterior, seemed like an odd match.
As he walked between Mikasa and Armin, the noise of their bickering began to grate on his nerves. With a sigh of resignation, he pulled out his earphones and plugged them in, choosing to drown out their voices. Typical of him, he thought, like a typical teenage boy without a plan for the future. The chaos around him faded into a low hum as he lost himself in music, momentarily forgetting about the rumors and debates that seemed to swirl endlessly in the air.
“Mwahaha! I swear, Historia! When the truth comes out, it’ll be such a blockbuster!” Reiner exclaimed gleefully, holding up his phone to show a candid picture of you and Levi engaged in a relaxed conversation outside of school. The image captured the sunlight on Levi's face, while you laughed at something he said. Historia rolled her eyes at Reiner’s enthusiastic reaction as she continued applying her lipstick, meticulously preparing herself to look both pretty and elegant for her upcoming cheerleading practice.
“And just wait and see what everyone's reactions will be. Can you believe a janitor and a teacher together? What an odd match!” Historia remarked, making a playful pop sound with her lips as she glanced into the small mirror Ymir held for her, adjusting her hair slightly.
She then mentioned your name, adding matter-of-factly, “She definitely has a peculiar taste in men if she’s really dating Levi. I mean, couldn’t she pick someone hotter and more charming instead of a grumpy old man who spends his days cleaning?”
“True, our dear teacher does seem to have an unusual taste in guys, but you can’t blame her if she’s genuinely interested,” Ymir chimed in, adjusting her grip on the mirror while trying to suppress a smirk. Historia groaned, clearly exasperated.
“Ugh! Her taste in men is just horrendous!” Historia huffed, her frustration evident. “If I had to place a bet, I’d say she has a thing for Mr. Smith. They seem to have a lot of chemistry.”
“Mr. Eyebrows?” Reiner raised an eyebrow in disbelief. “Why would you think that? She talks to Mr. Eyebrows sometimes, sure, but she also has those long conversations with Levi.”
“Well, maybe she’s just asking Mr. Smith for advice on how to get closer to Levi?” Ymir suggested, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. “Or maybe, instead of Mr. Smith, she's interested in Mr. Pixie!”
Reiner and Historia exchanged incredulous looks, both making faces in response to Ymir’s off-the-wall suggestion. It was clear that her matchmaking skills were amusingly out of touch.
“He’s way too old!” Historia exclaimed in disbelief, shaking her head vigorously. “Like, really old!”
“I’m just hypothesizing!” Ymir countered, giggling at the absurdity of the conversation as the three of them continued their light-hearted banter, each contributing to the playful speculation about your love life.
As the spirited debates that once filled the air among Eren, Mikasa, and Armin began to dwindle, their conversations shifted toward schoolwork and assignments. They decided to step outside for a breath of fresh air, finding a quiet spot on the school field where no other students roamed. Just the three of them, the atmosphere felt lighter as the sun peeked from behind the clouds.
Eren, lost in thought, removed his earphones and paused as he heard a soft sound emanating from behind one of the nearby buildings. He noticed that Armin and Mikasa had walked ahead of him, engrossed in their own discussion, so he slowly peeled away from them, drawn toward the unfamiliar noise.
As he crept around the corner of the school building, his heart raced, and he froze in place, eyes wide with shock. There, caught in a moment he never expected to witness, he saw you locked in a kiss with Levi. Your arms were draped over his shoulders, fingers tangling in his dark hair, the scene radiating an intimacy that made Eren acutely aware that he was trespassing on a private moment.
Levi caught sight of Eren from the corner of his eye and shot him a side glance. He raised a finger to his lips, signaling with a silent shh, his expression dangerously intense. Eren felt a jolt of alarm; it was a clear warning not to breathe a word of what he had just seen.
In a panic, Eren turned on his heel and sprinted back to where Mikasa and Armin were standing. They looked at him curiously, brows furrowing in concern.
"Where have you been? What's that look on your face? Did something happen, my dark knight?" Mikasa asked, her voice laced with worry.
Eren shook his head vigorously to dispel the troubling images from his mind. "Nothing just saw a cat," he replied, forcing a casualness into his tone that he didn’t quite feel. He hoped they'd buy it, even as he tried to settle the racing thoughts in his head.
Well, the rumour is true to him and he swore his life he'll never tell or else Levi might kill him.
