The Winner Takes It All, The Loser Has To Fall

Summary:

Nice…why, He thought. His eyes brimming with tears once more. This sky…it’s warm…just like Nice’s laughter. It echoed softly into his mind like a soothing lullaby that’ll lull him into endless slumber. His lips curled into a wistful smile.

I wish…I could’ve shared this sunset with you.

Work Text:

Ahh…

Wreck stared at the sky, the bright blue slowly turning orange as the sun began to set. It looked…beautiful. So bittersweet. He could feel the air brushed through him as he made his descend to the ground, his lips

Wreck let out a sigh, feeling his tears fly against the air that brushed against his skin. His heart ached at the loneliness he felt. The idea of having to learn his best friend’s death through another person that looked exactly like him was devastating. He wished he could’ve known sooner, at least he could see Nice, the real Nice, one last time.

He knew that was not the same Nice that he knew. How could he not tell when there are subtle differences that appear only he can notice. The Nice he knew had more sharper features, his eyes held something within it that made his heart race, and that same feeling wasn’t the same the moment he saw the other man. That wasn’t his Nice.

In the amount of years he had spent with Nice, he should’ve known to cherish his presence more as his Trust Value increased. The way the company would call him less and less, the more he wouldn’t be able to see Nice. The days he wondered how the other man was doing, watching the news everyday just to catch a peak of the white haired man on the screen, and that alone gave him reassurance that Nice was doing well.

But now, it felt like he was under the false sense of security that Nice was alright. He should’ve done better than stay at his home, waiting for the time Miss J would call him for another skit with Nice.

Wreck could feel his heart aching at the thought.

I wished…I could’ve been there for you when I knew you must’ve been carrying such a heavy burden…

He could recall the times they’d hangout after putting on a show to increase Nice’s Trust Value, the sound of soda sizzling as the bottle cap popped, their shared laughter and playful banters. Oh how he missed those times…

He missed him…

He missed his partner, his best friend, his…

Wreck closed his eyes, his body felt like a heavy anchor as he continued to fall. He knew he could get himself out of this. He had enough strength to do so, but will he?

No. He doesn’t find it in him to continue on at this point. He understood the fact that he will never be the hero, and he will never see Nice ever again. That man had given him everything; happiness, friendship, love.

“Don’t worry, Nice.” He whispered as if this is only between the both of them. “I’ll be with you soon.”

Maybe this way…he can find his happiness back.
