"By the time they arrived, the Sun had set behind the mountains; it was little more than an orange glow on the horizon. The evening breeze was cool, but the dragon in whose arm they were carried was warm, as was the fluffy rabbit next to him, so Noise felt quite cozy.
He couldn't believe his eyes! It was as though the stars had fallen from the sky and lay at their feet! He could feel Noisette wriggling with excitement next to him; she wasn't speaking, but she did have a big grin on her face, so she was clearly feeling similar awe.
Even from so far up in the air, the myriad of smells washed over him of so many new things. He wished that he were a big, scary dragon so that he could explore to his heart's content, but unfortunately, as a small, timid Kobold, the humans would be unfriendly and perhaps violent towards him.
Noise felt like he could honestly stay here hovering in the sky above the captured starlight for hours. He hated to admit it, even to himself, but he did feel secure here, held firmly against the dragon's chest, the rhythmic beating of his great wings almost lulling the Kobold into a slumber. And Noisette was clearly so happy! That meant the world to him. He was definitely going to get something for her when they finally descended."
