Work Text:

Home.

A word that Kaiser never really knew the true meaning of.

“Youre a fucking scum me and that bitch spawned.”

He sat there. Unmoving, unwanted memories ran through his head like a bullet train set to explode. Him tied to a seat with no way out.

“Imcompotent.”

“Worthless piece of trash.”

It was just too much. Everything around Kaiser felt like too much, and too little all at the same time. The words once said by his father replaying on loop in his mind.

Father. Almost just the thought of the word made him want to throw up. A father was supposed to nourish and care for his child. Certainly not do what that cunt did to him.

In the midst of his head in shambles and his eyes hazy and unfocused, it seems as if he had called someone. The line ringing being the only sound breaking through the haunting silence of their overly large penthouse.

“Hello? Michael?” he could barely make out the words being said. The slight static not really helping his case.

“Are you there? What's wrong?” Who did he call? And why did they care so much?

“Michael, baby, are you okay? I'm gonna come over alright.” whoever it was, they were extremely persistent. Kaiser was lost. He felt like shit. The tears he tried so hard to ignore, spilled out, and they showed no sign of stopping soon.

“Stay with me now love. I'm almost there.” the voice on the other line started sounding frantic now. Ah great, he disappointed someone else, could he ever do anything right.

“Get lost and die.”

Maybe that wasn't the worst idea. He'd just lay here until he eventually starved to death. He wasn't needed here. The world would be better without him. Small whimpers escaped his mouth.
A sigh of relief could be heard on the other end of the phone.

“Oh thank gosh, you're okay, I'm almost home. Just a few minutes lovely.” he really couldn't understand what was being said anymore. He lay on the cool bathroom tiles. How in the world did he end up here? Kaiser couldn't remember. The only memories invading his mind were of his father.

Slowly, he lifted his arms, reaching them towards his neck. Just as he managed to wrap them around, the bathroom door swung open, hitting the wall behind. But Kaiser didnt care, he couldn't comprehend what was happening. Choked sobs rising in volume, all while his hands got tighter.

Before he could hurt himself too bad, a pair of warm hands made their way to his. They were soft and did he mention warm? Slowly, his hands were guided off his neck and into the other's lap. He looked up, ears still ringing, and saw blue. The most beautiful shade of blue he'd ever witnessed. One he couldn't ever forget, not even if he tried his absolute hardest.

“..ichi..?” was all Kaiser could let out. His voice was raspy from the lack of use, and even that one word was slurred to the point that it was a miracle Isagi could actually understand what he said.

“Yes, yes, I'm here love. Are you alright, what happened?” Isagi practically bombarded him with questions. Kaiser barely understood, as the ringing in his ears just got louder. He winced quietly and sluggishly covered his ears, not that that did anything to help.

Isagi seemed to notice and chose to keep the silence going for a little bit longer.

After a while, Kaiser seemed to remove his hands from his ears, but hot tears continued sliding down his face, taking his perfect eyeliner down with them. Isagi took it upon himself to reach up and soothingly wipe them off. Shallow breaths left Kaiser's mouth as he slumped forward into Isagis kneeling figure.

“Why did you come?” he whispered, words still slurring. He was exhausted

Isagi gently combed his hands through Kaiser’s hair, attempting to brush out the many inevitable tangles that had formed.

“hm,” he simply replied.

There was another silence. Although this time it wasn't uncomfortable or sickening. Kaiser felt that it was almost bearable.

“Why do you care so much about me?” damn for someone who could hardly form words, he was just on a roll wasn't he?

Isagi huffed and picked him up with one arm on his back and the other under his knees.

Comforting.

That was the only way to describe it. That's just how Isagi’s presence was. Kaiser leaned his head against his chest. Barely finding the strength to stay awake. By now, the tears had stopped falling and had only left dripping liner behind. His eyes were disgustingly puffy and his nose was an alarming red.

Isagi sat him on the edge of the bed and wiped his face dry.

“You had me worried. I-I thought I lost you.” he whispered in between strokes. His voice slightly cracking a few times. Isagi leaned in and held Kaiser in an embrace. It was warm and comfortable. Kaiser felt himself lean into it

What was he thinking? He couldn't possibly enjoy this. He didnt deserve being held in such a loving way. He tried to pull away, but Isagi just held him tighter. After a few weak attempts he gave up and let himself be hugged.

Kaiser used all the power left in his body to wrap his arms around Isagi. His drowsiness was really getting to him, and right before he could slump into him any further, Isagi gently pushed him so his head would hit his pillow.

Almost immediately, his eyes started feeling heavy. He felt the other side of the bed dip and strong arms held him in an embrace once again.

They landed in his hair, fixing his now completely matted hair. Kaiser reached a hand forward, and lazily traced the features on Isagi’s face.

Kaiser knew he didn't have to say anything, the other most definitely understood.

A silent thank you hung in the air, one that nobody but them could hear.

Kaiser finally allowed his eyes to shut, exhaustion hitting like a truck. He felt safe as Isagi’s arms reached down to trace the side of his body. Touch featherlight, but still grounding.

So this was what home was supposed to feel like.

Kaiser never once would think he deserved such a warm environment. And he certainly never once thought he deserved such a beautiful partner. Both inside and out.

Right before Kaiser was whisked away into dreamland he heard a few words, just barely audible.

They really showed him that no matter what he did or who he once was, someone would always be right here beside him.

“I’ll always come when you call my love”
