Work Text:
It was just a few days after Fairy Godmother was vanquished, and the group of fairy tale friends decided to have a night out at the Rotten Apple.
“Oh, why are we here again?” Gingy complained as the ugly step sister served them their respective drinks.
“You remember my cousin, Ivan the Wolf,” Wolfie said, “Well his friend is doing a show tonight.” Just then the lights dimmed, and at the piano Captain Hook announced who was about to perform for the intrigued audience. “Now performing a special show for yer tonight, Sionn the Fox!”
After the announcement was made a strange beat was struck on an electric guitar. The stage curtains opened up to reveal a red fox wearing a white poet shirt with a forest green vest. The sly grin on the fox’s face soon became a laugh of mirth. “Hahaha! It’s good to be back!” Sionn exclaimed with open arms.
The red fur on his head was swept aside to reveal a set of deep Jade eyes, eyes that locked on the only wolf in the tavern, Wolfie. He gulped as those eyes saw through what had to be his soul. It was clear that this fox had it out for someone, and Wolfie suspected he knew who. The fox made it all the more clear when he said “This is still about you”
Beware, beware, be skeptical
Of their smiles, their smiles of plated gold
He looked down as he sang.
Deceit so natural
But a wolf in sheep’s clothing is more than a warning
His eyes glared up at the audience, only for his head to make a sharp snap to the side, his body following through.
Baa baa, black sheep, have you any soul?
He clasped his hands as he sang with big, innocent doe eyes.
No, sir, by the way, what the hell are morals?
The look of innocence was gone just as soon as it came, replaced by what seemed to be a look of sarcasme.
Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jill’s a little-
He put a clawed finger to his smirking lips, almost like the next word was his little secret.
And her alibis are turning tricks
He turned his back to the crowd, with only his head turned slightly to the side, his long head fur covering his eyes as he sang the next lyric.
So could you
He turned sharply back to the front, ready to deliver the chorus.
Tell me how you’re sleeping easy?
How you’re only thinking of yourself?
He seemed to question the crowd.
Show me how you justify
Telling all your lies like second nature
His burning eyes met no one, and yet everyone at the same time.
Listen, mark my words, one day
You will pay, you will pay
He accused the audience, making them look at each other, his lyrics hitting too close to home for some.
Karma’s gonna come collect your debt
He spat the last verse out, making it to what it was supposed to be, an insult. Before the next verse, Sionn dropped down on all fours, prowling his way toward the unsuspecting audience.
Aware, aware, you stalk your prey
With criminal mentality
His fluffy tail swayed as he crawled toward a tree creature, mimicking a hunting stance.
You sink your teeth into the people you depend on
He smiled as he snapped his jaws near the tree creature's arm, making the beast flinch at the surprise attack.
Infecting everyone, you’re quite the problem
Sionn’s haunches wiggled before he launched himself from table to table, almost like his brethren jumping through snow.
Fee-fi-fo-fum, you better run and hide
He landed on the table that the gang was seated at. Puss was mentally congratulating the skill that the fox had for jumping on the beat, he himself thought that the fox would do great at a Tuesday Night Dance Fight if he ever got the chance.
I smell the blood of a petty little coward
Sionn turned his head violently toward Wolfie’s direction, making the wolf jump in fright at how wild the foxes' eyes looked.
Jack be lethal, oh, Jack be slick
Jill will leave you lonely, dying in a filthy ditch
Puss couldn’t contain his laughter when that lyric hit, because he knew every word to be true from past experience.
So could you
He sweetly placed his hand under Wolfie’s chin, making the wolf look into the blaising Jade eyes of the composer before him, bringing back memories he would rather be left forgotten.
Tell me how you’re sleeping easy?
How you’re only thinking of yourself?
Sionn jerked the wolf’s head out of his hand, and snarled at the so-called “Big Bad Wolf”.
Show me how you justify
Telling all you lies like second nature
Sionn stood and spread his arms wide before his captive audience, his shadow seemed to be engulfing the wolf in front of him.
Listen, mark my words, one day
You will pay, you will pay
He pointed an accusing clawed finger at the wolf, only to make his way back to the stage, his tail fiercely swaying low to the ground.
Karma’s gonna come collect your debt
Back on the stage, Sionn grabbed a string, revealing a pair of beautifully crafted angel wings along with a glowing halo, making his next few lyrics all the more aww inspiring as he stood before the angelic display.
Maybe you’ll change
Abandon all your wicked ways
Make amends and start anew again
Sionn smiled gently at the captivated crowd, a few villains even had tears in their eyes at the holy projection the fox made himself to be. He looked directly at Wolfie when the next verses came, making the wolf know they were for him.
Maybe you’ll see
All the wrongs you did to me
And start all over, start all, oh my God
At this, an inner curtain came down upon the wings and halo, hiding them from sight once more.
Who am I kidding?
Sionn sang with his paw pinching his brow, eyes closed, and all an all just giving the picture of frustration.
Now, let’s not get overzealous here
You’ve always been a huge piece of shite
This he growled out in a spiteful tone, that last word bringing a gasp from the crowd.
If I could kill you, I would, but it’s frowned upon in all fifty states
Now everyone was frightened, yet curious at what the wolf could have done to anger the fox so much.
Having said that,
The fox spread his arms once more, his wild eyes toward the ceiling as he sang the last part with every bit of breath he had.
Burn in Hell!
Fire erupted out of nowhere, engulfing the stage and spreading to the walls, and yet it did not burn, for it was only an illusion.
See you in Hell
Sionn glared, yet smiled wickedly at Wolfie, making the wolf know that every lyric of this song was for him.
Oh, oh, oh
Each breath the fox took punctuated every little part he sang.
So tell me how you’re sleeping easy?
How you’re only thinking of yourself?
He tilted his head, making it look like he wanted someone to speak up and confess. He rolled his eyes for the next lyric.
Oh, show me how you justify
Telling all your lies like second nature
He swished his tail and head fur, his perked ears flicking to the surrounding noise of the tavern.
Listen, mark my words, one day
You will pay, you will pay
Now he seemed to not only insult, but mock the crowd.
Karma’s gonna come collect your debt
Sionn swayed his body to the beat, grinning wickedly the entire time.
Come collect your debt
He sang with gusto as he prepared to close the curtain, but not before looking positively toward a certain wolf, whom Sionn smirked at.
Karma’s gonna come collect your debt
With that final verse Sionn closed the curtain, ending the show.
The tavern was stunned to silence before loud clapping and cheering took over them. They applauded the fox for such a grand performance, but at a certain table, there were a few questioning gazes at the wolf of the group.
“So…you and the fox…?” Pinocchio being the only brave one to question. Wolfie looked at the group before sighing, “...I don’t want to talk about it.”
