Chapter Text
Mikhaela Janna Lim
He was running. That's right. Run for your fucking life, asshole. I didn't think twice but I raised my hand straight in his direction, I was holding a Desert Eagle with a silencer. I let him think he was escaping before pulling the trigger. One shot, one kill.
I put my hood back on and I walked back to my car, my co-workers will take care of that. I was just assigned to kill the person and not clean the mess that is possibly to come with it.
I typed a message to my supervisor.
To: Colet Vergara
It's done.
I put the gun in my compartment, removed my gloves and I drove to the headquarters.
What welcomed me was darkness. The fuck is going on here? I got ready so I took my gun out, it's a real puzzle why it's dark in the HQ. I then heard a loud BOOM! I didn't hesitate to point my gun to the place where the sound came from, I was ready to pull the trigger but I was stopped when the lights turned on and I heard applauding agents.
I looked at the person I was pointing the gun at, Gelo, huh? If I would pull the trigger, pwede kong sabihin na unintentional s’ya kasi akala ko kaaway. Gelo was smiling nervously at me while his hands were up in the air.
Pussy . I smirked to myself
But a professional looking brunette came up to me while clapping slowly. Colet held my gun from above and pushed it down, so I lowered my weapon.
"Ano ‘to?" I asked
"Ano sa tingin mo?" She grinned
My forehead creased. I don't like that answer, I'm asking a proper question and she's gonna reply with another question?
"If you are just playing with me, might as well point my gun at you," I sternly replied and she laughed
"You have no balls to do that,"
“Oh, I do. Gusto mo i-try?” I asked and ni-ready ko ulit ‘yung baril ko
“Oh kalma! When you talk to me, parang hindi mo ‘ko boss,” Colet said
"You just took out a multi-millionaire drug lord! Do you honestly think we won't give you an entrance?" Colet continued while we were walking to her office
"But keep it low, Col. I am an agent, it isn't surprising if I kill people," I told her
"Ang KJ mo, Lim. Hindi lahat nasisikmura ‘yung ginagawa mo," She said and she opened the door to her office
I am Mikhaela Janna Lim. I am an agent of the SM Intelligence Agency. Ever since I was 6, all I heard were gunshots and all I saw was smoke. I got blood on my hands but that doesn't bother me, I was raised to do this.
My supervisor, Colet Vergara, is my sister in a way. Her family took me in when I lost my father in a mission when I was 16. My father was an agent of this IA, he was the best agent, I saw him in action from the van and every time he would meet an opponent, he doesn't hesitate to pull the trigger. It was always one shot, one kill.
That very day was also the day he got killed. Their team was ambushed. The druglord sacrificed his men just to kill the top agents of SM Intelligence Agency, desperate. After 6 years, I finally got the revenge I was waiting for. I shot the man that ordered to kill my father.
"Pwede mo ng tanggalin ‘yung act mo," Colet said and she sat on her swivel chair. I just stared at her.
"Don't you act cool and cold in front of your co-workers? You can stop doing that now," She repeated
My forehead creased. She's weird.
"I guess not,"
I took off my coat, sat in front of her and I massaged my head.
"What's next?" I asked
"Magpahinga ka muna. You were chasing after that druglord for 3 months. You must be overworking yourself, Mikhs," Colet replied, worry evident in her voice but I just shook my head
"Give me the next file to get as much as possible done,"
"Alright, workaholic," And she handed me a file
I opened it and I saw an overview of my next target. She has dark eyes, long black hair, slightly-upturned nose, and pink lips. She's a model, an outgoing one.
"Why do I need to kill a model?" I asked while going through the candid shots
"Tanga. Hindi mo s’ya papatayin,"
"I don't want it then," I said and I put the file back on her table
Colet looked at me unbelievably and she raised her eyebrow at me. We had a staring contest for a while until I gave up by grabbing the file again. Work is work. When duty calls, kailangan gawin. That has always been the oath.
"This is Maraiah Queen—"
"I know. I can read her name," I said
"Let me fucking finish, Mikha," Colet angrily replied that made me smirk internally
"She's Maraiah Queen Arceta or Aiah, daughter of the president. Her guards were also from SMIA but something happened last night,"
She handed me another file. I closed Aiah Arceta’s file and I opened the file she gave me. Three men were strangled to death, it was evident on their necks.
"Miss Arceta is a bit... a bit of a bad girl... She enjoys breaking the rules. Nung nangyari ‘yan, wala si Miss Arceta sa bahay nila dahil tumakas nga. The guards found her but they weren't the only ones that found her."
"Col, just tell me what your point is," I said and I put the file down
"The Director wants his best agent to guard Aiah Arceta,"
The Director wants his best agent to guard Aiah Arceta
The Director wants his best agent to guard Aiah Arceta
The Director wants his best agent to guard Aiah Arceta
The Director wants his best agent to guard Aiah Arceta
The Director wants his best agent to guard Aiah Arceta
That was it. I repeated the sentence in my head multiple times until I decided to stand up.
"Yeaaah—no. I'm not doing that," I said before I stood up
I was about to leave her office but Colet cleared her throat. I glared at her.
"If you want a babysitter, ask Gelo to do it for you! I am not trained to babysit!" I said
"Gelo is not our best agent,"
"Gelo is our best babysitter," I countered and Colet just heaved a sigh
I calmed myself down before walking back to her table
"Col, unless I can kill Aiah Arceta, because that's what I'm trained to do, I won't do it," I told her then I walked away
"Mikha… ‘Wag mong hintayin na si Director pa ang magsabi sa’yo,"
"I won't do it even if he was the one that gave me the job," I said and I closed her door
I am not some babysitter, I wasn't trained to watch over some 25-year old brat. I don't have the patience to deal with that.
Maraiah Queen Arceta
"Good take, girls!"
Sheena, Maloi, and I heaved an exhausted sigh after we heard that. We have been smiling in front of the cameras for almost two hours now! Why? It's their fault. Their cameras weren't working, their shots were bad and so on.
The three of us changed into our casual outfits and went out of the venue.
"Ano ‘yung plano n’yo for today?" Sheena asked
"May date ako with my girlfriend," Maloi answered while giggling
Ugh. She was talking about her girlfriend for 3 years now. Maloi seriously has a girlfriend for 3 years but never has she introduced her to us. I seriously have no idea how this girl can be in a relationship with the same person for that long. I'm sure it gets boring.
Sheena looked at me, like she was waiting for my answer. I shrugged
"Whatever happens, happens," and Sheena sighed
"Bakit ba kita tinatanong pa? Sabi ni bebe, isama raw kita, so ayun ‘yung mangyayari, ‘te Aiah,”
"Nope. If it's from Gwen, no." I declined
Gwen is my best friend / childhood friend since I was 4. She became Sheena’s girlfriend last year and whenever she wants me to tag along, rest assured it's for something boring.
"Too late," Sheena said and she wrapped her arm on mine
I looked at Maloi for help but she just smiled at me and shook her head
"Pupuntahan ko ‘yung uyab ko. I miss her ugly face," Maloi told us
“Sama mo ‘ko,” I whined, pulling Sheena with us as I follow Maloi around
“Hindi pwede, ‘te Aiah,” Maloi chuckled
“Why?” I asked
“Kasi wala talaga s’yang uyab,” Sheena answered, making us laugh
“She’s a private person kasi,” Maloi said
“Baka kasi kabit ka, ate Maloi,” Sheena teased even more
“Baliw,” Maloi laughed. Soon enough, she kissed us goodbye and she left.
Okay. Now, I'm stuck with Sheena, the girl that is willing to sacrifice me for Gwen. I should've just told her I'm going somewhere then I can figure out where that somewhere is when she's gone.
Sheena and I went to Gwen’s place. She forced me to go to her girlfriend's place. Boring. I could've just gone to some bar, spent the night with some stranger, forget it the day after.
When we got out of the car, a black SUV caught my attention. I just shook my head, they're my guards, my useless bodyguards. It isn't that hard to escape from them really but Dad always insists I have them.
My name's Aiah Arceta, I am the one and only daughter of the president. I am a model and sometimes, I just chill. My parents are professionals, my Dad is the president, while my Mom is the respective First Lady. Mom always tells me 'Do this, that will affect your father's image'. But yeah, she will always be the one to heave a sigh and stop. More than that, Mom handles a lot of restaurants. That’s our business before Dad decided to run for office.
"What is this now, Gwenny?" I asked when I saw Gwen. Sheena went to Gwen’s room to change her clothes. They're not living together, it just happened that Sheena left some clothes here.
Small meows of Chibi, Gwen’s cat, became known to my ears. He was running towards me so I squatted to get him in my arms. I then sat on her couch.
"Wala ka pa raw bagong bodyguards. Tito asked me to look after you muna," She answered
"Psh. Anong wala? They are seriously standing outside right now. If I jump off your house right now, feeling ko may sasalo sa’kin," I sarcastically replied
“A personal one. Akala mo ba pagkakatiwalaan sila ni Tito na sundan ka kahit saan? They’re from a normal security agency,” Gwen told me
“Why do I even need someone to look after me? Hindi ba ayos na na may ganito? For fuck’s sake, Gwenny, I’m 25 already,” I say
"Then act like you're fucking 25, Ate Aiah. Your safety's the only thing in your parents' minds," She said and she handed me a glass of water
I didn't ask him to run for president and win, right? Why does it seem like I need to adjust for the choices he chose himself?
"I didn't ask for this," I whispered while petting Chibi
I heard Gwen sighed and she sat beside me. I don't need anyone's pity, the fuck.
"As much as you wanna turn back time, ate Aiah, hindi pwede,"
I stood up and grabbed my bag. I don't need my best friend to give me another PEP talk about my parents doing their jobs and all. I've heard that a million times. Wala namang nagbabago.
"I just remembered that I need to meet up with some other friends," I walked away before she could even end her sentence
It's time to have some fun and the talk I had with Gwen is definitely not it.
