Work Text:

The tranquil air between the two harbingers was filled with the soothing music coming from the grand piano Vincent owned as he played—a brand new composition for one of his upcoming orchestras.

"You're really good at this, Vincent." Florence commented, her signature smile on her face before her eyes fluttered closed and rested her cheek in the palm of her hand. Wanting to just listen to the melody.

She was never quite good at the whole.. Music thing, one of the only things she'll admit she was not talented in—Like whenever she'd partake in festivals back in Sumeru she prefered to do something with her talent in alchemy instead or just simply grow some 'living' flowers for the celebrations. But that didn't stop her from appreciating the art.

"I'd hope so." He joked as his lips upturned into a smirk, which caused Florence to open her eyes and raise an eyebrow. Leaving him to feel bad for a few moments before he spoke again. "But yeah.. thanks." He added, his voice lowering the tiniest bit to a murmur that caused the other to stiffle her laughter.

"You're welcome." Florence responded playfully with an amused hum, a grin gracing her oh so 'beautiful' face she always enjoyed flaunting around as she flipped her hair in an arrogant manner as if she was right, well she IS right—Vincent is extremely talented. The thought made her expression soften.

Something about Florences smile and entire demeanor was.. Familiar to Vincent and he found himself thinking back to a figure from his childhood smiling at him. A memory too quick to properly grasp, and it included someone who he couldn't recognize but felt as if they were important to him before. And Florence reminded him of them.

And that made him feel something that could only be described as melancholy, which caught him off guard. Which made way to frustration

It was frustrating not being able to remember exactly who it was he saw, and why it made him feel upset. So much so that there was an obvious momenterial pause in the music. And Florence noticed. Of course she'd notice, She's always been too observant for comfort.

"Are you okay?" Florence spoke up with a firm yet concerned tone that broke his train of thought and brought him back to reality. Her expression softening as she watched his face.

He would quickly snap out of it the moment he heard her voice, taking a deep breath as he noticed how clenched his jaw had become and how his eyes had narrowed. Before pushed away everything he was feeling.

"I just thought I was gonna sneeze, " He excused himself in an attempt to play it off, the words coming out too quick which he mentally berated himself for before continuing to play.

Florence would stay silent, despite being concerned for her friend she doesn't know if she should push the topic and ask whats on his mind. Shes never had a proper friend nor had any proper connections with people before so she didn't know how to comfort Vincent.

So she didn't say anything. Just silently noting the way how he pressed on the keys was a bit harder than usual, the way his eyebrow was furrowed and eyes narrowed as if he was still lost in thought.

She'll wait until he was comfortable enough to talk about it, that's the right think to do right?

...Yeah. She'll do that.
