“Ten seconds,” Hirano muttered, taking a hold of Kagiura’s hands, feeling the roughness of the skin from hours upon hours of basketball.
“Okay,” Kagiura agreed, standing still as Hirano held onto his hand. This was their normal - the hand holding, the occasional head pat and the rare hugs. And while repetitive, it only meant that Kagiura could memorize and imprint every single contour of Hirano’s hand to memory.
Hirano sighed, looking at their intertwined hands. Unconsciously, his grip became tighter as his heart sped up just a little bit faster than the usual rate.
Because he finally understood.
Hiano took in a breath. “Dammit,” he muttered, reaching out his free hand to hold Kagiura’s cheek. Kagiura blinked, not expecting the touch. He leaned into it, nuzzling his cheek against the coolness of Hirano’s palm.
Hirano brushed a thumb against Kagiura’s low hanging bangs, feeling the silk-like texture of the taller’s brown hair. “Kagi-kun,” he murmured, voice too low for Kagiura to hear but nevertheless, Kagiura hummed against Hirano’s hand in response, as if he had heard his name being called.
Hirano held Kagiura’s face firmer, clutching onto Kagiura’s hands, nails digging into skin, as he pulled the brown haired boy forwards, tilting his head to meet Kagiura’s mouth. It was messy, clumsy, imperfect - but since when had any first kiss been perfect?
They parted, their faces still remaining mere centimeters away from each other. Hirano could feel Kagiura’s melon soda scented breath ghost over his face. He took a quick glance over Kagiura’s face which was a bright red and amber eyes nearly glowing.
Hirano could feel the heat rising to his face. “That was ten seconds,” he let go of Kagiura’s face, admiring the way Kagiura’s lips were parted in a mixture of confusion and an expression that read something along the lines of ‘finally’.
He turned to go back to his bed, preferably fall face-first onto the bed so he could hide his face with the pillow. Kagiura’s hold on his hand tightened, refusing to let him go. “Hirano-san,” Kagiura’s voice was honeydew, trickling into Hirano’s ear sweetly, reeling the blonde into him, bodies pressed flush against each other.
Hirano didn’t think he had ever heard Kagiura say his name in that sort of way and god did it do wonders to him.
One of Kagiura’s arms wrapped around his waist, holding him even closer than they already were. Hirano could hear the sound of hearts thudding against rib cages- he didn’t know whose heartbeat it was. Instinctively, he placed a hand on top of the taller one’s chest, feeling Kagiura’s heartbeat against his hand.
“It’s been more than ten seconds,” Hirano mumbled as Kagiura’s fingers gently held onto the fabric of his shirt.
Kagiura’s eyebrows furrowed. “I haven’t used up mine yet,” he whispered, using a hand to tilt Hirano’s chin up so that their eyes were in-line.
Oh… Hirano felt a shudder pass through him as he looked into the depths of the amber, into the dark cloud of what could only be labeled as lust that was gathering within. Oddly enough, Hirano didn’t feel the urge to pull away. Instead, he felt an odd feeling of wanting to be part of the brewing storm - of wanting to know what that dark cloud would bring.
“Are you gonna use them up?” Or are you gonna leave me hanging? Hirano’s voice came out more playful than he expected it to be and his throat felt dry for a reason he couldn’t quite name.
Kagiura smiled, a cocky one. “You don’t have to tell me twice,”
The atmosphere around them grew electric, Hirano felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise and his skin prickle. Kagiura’s arm didn’t leave his waist, nor did he let go of Hirano's face, brushing a thumb against Hirano’s lips. The touch was fleeting, barely there. Hirano could feel the skin against his mouth.
Kagiura leaned in, tilting his head so their mouths slotted perfectly - as if they were fated. It was far less messy and clumsy this time around. It was sweet; Hirano could taste the melon soda flavour filling his mouth.
The push and slide of tongue against mouth made Hirano want to lose himself in the storm he had unleashed. He dug his fingers into Kagiura’s chest as Kagiura managed to slide his tongue inside of his mouth. A sound fell out from Hirano’s mouth, knees almost buckling from the sheer pressure and effort it took from keeping himself upright.
Kagiura held onto him tightly, not letting him fall, allowing Hirano to lean on him. They didn’t part for a single second even though they were running out of air. They melded together until it was impossible to tell who began where. Sounds were slipping out now, more uncontrollably as Kagiura continued to take and take.
And by all means, if it was for Kagiura, Hirano would let himself run dry.
They finally pulled apart, both of them panting and Hirano clutching onto Kagiura as if he were a lifeline. Kagiura rested his head against Hirano’s, a satisfied smile upon his swollen lips and his amber eyes shining.
Hirano could still taste the melon soda lingering in his mouth. He could still feel the phantom of Kagiura’s mouth against his own.
“Dumbass, that was more than ten seconds,” his voice was dry, raspy but still warm.
Kagiura chuckled, pressing his face against Hirano’s hair and taking in the strong smell of strawberries. “Whatever do you mean?" He feigned innocence, earning him a punch to the chest that held no weight. "I haven’t used mine up yet.”
“Greedy asshole,” Hirano mumbled but despite himself, he was smiling.
Kagiura only laughed in response.
