Work Text:
The lights are dim in the Clubhouse. In fact, there’s no light at all.
You’re sitting by yourself, curled up into a pathetic little ball, quietly crying as her voice, once so sweet and obedient, spews pent-up venom, the result of years of silent torture.
Even after you disappeared from this world and entered the blue abyss, your actions affected everyone around you. Like the falling, pooling rain. You don’t mean to, but you make everyone miserable.
There’s an emptiness in you. That emptiness wasn’t there before, not in BFDIA, not in IDFB, not in BFB. It slowly grew in the EXIT, until it became a gaping hole that has devoured everything you held dear.
You don’t want to see anyone. You want to stay here, surrounded by the faded memories of your friends. Shielded from the harsh reality, walls built up carefully to protect yourself from them, from her, from him.
You resemble the rain.
You pick up a photo that has been strewn across the once vibrant floor. It’s a photo of your friends, all together, all happy, all smiling. All as one, all friends, no rivalry, no enemies, no trouble. The glass protector is cracked over your and her faces.
It’s really the only thing you have left.
FreeSmart means nothing to you.
FreeSmart means everything to you.
You want to get rid of it, to break it, to never see it again, but you can’t, you’re too tired. So, you hold it close, because it’s the only memory you have left that hasn’t been tainted, poisoned.
You look at yourself in that picture. Long brown hair, fully natural compared to your now self-cut hair with pink and blonde highlights. Eyes so full of life and vigour, so full of determination and confidence, everything a leader should have.
You catch your reflection and see your true self, the “you” that you are, the “you” that’s a former shell of yourself. Tear stains and soulless eyes devoid of light.
You droo the photo and hug yourself tight again. You’re so pathetic, aren’t you—
The doors opened.
