Work Text:
There, my head rests against her lap, her fingers weaving through my dark tresses as she hums a melodic tune that soothes the inner turmoils of my yesterdays until now. I can feel her warmth delicately embracing me, as if I were a fragile being before her. I feel... light-headed at the very thought of melting into her gentle harbor.
Her gaze is steady, unmoving, fixed on the setting sun. The canvas above us, its radiant gradient slowly succumbing to night as familiar specks of light emerge one by one. I heard her breath hitch from the sudden transition of the natural occurrence. Her lilac hues gradually land on mine, blinking a few times before a smile spreads across her face.
"Night... sky... beautiful."
I agreed without hesitation, a fleeting nod with eyes fixated on the beauty before me. God, if you are a thing with ears, I pray you do not hear my mumblings of a certain woman I have always yearned for since my arrival.
Scurrying over to her left side, where our belongings were placed, I noticed most of our pastries were either bought or homemade, nicely wrapped in newspapers, with a ribbon on top. I couldn't help but let out a light chuckle after scrutinizing the small details. It was a thin strip with a white base color. Intricate gold patterns danced across its surface, adding an air of elegance. Along the edges was a linear trim of intertwined gold and silver threads.
The moment I removed my glove to feel its fabric, I confirmed my suspicion: it was, indeed, made of silk. I hummed.
"It certainly is," I told her just as our eyes met. "The sky is breathtaking."
Just like you.
Under the soft embrace of the moonlit night, her skin seemed to awaken—not merely reflecting the silver light, but absorbing it, weaving it into a quiet, ethereal glow. The pale luminescence kissed every curve and contour, painting her in a beauty that felt otherworldly. In the stillness beneath the endless sky, her presence glowed as though the moon itself had chosen her as its canvas. My heart fluttered at the sight, like a leaf caught in a soft, unexpected breeze.
Does it make sense to say I ran out of breath, when all I did was admire?
"Tuberose," she said, her hand gesturing as she moved closer. My breath faltered, caught off guard by her sudden motion. Move, move, you idiot! Yet I failed, despite the attempts. Her enticing presence held me captive, still as stone.
"I... feel... uncertainties... in... you..."
Her slender fingers rested on the edges of my mask, her eyes sparkling with anticipation yet remaining serene. Gorgeous as always. I felt my heart thumping against my ribcage, afraid of what would happen in this moment. She is still here, patiently waiting for my response.
If you were to remove it...
I grabbed her wrist, my fingers wrapping around her delicate skin, signaling my hesitation.
"Are you sure about me?"
Her gaze met mine, a mix of surprise and reassurance swirling in her hues. She nodded, her eyes forming crescents as if she'd been certain all along. Within me, doubt still lingered. My grasp remained firm around her wrist as I pondered if this was the right choice, even though I had always been waiting for this moment.
And I allowed myself to let her in, sealing her—no, our—promise with a kiss beneath the celestial bodies, for they would serve as the witnesses of our oath.
