Work Text:

Tim felt quite nervous and he was doing everything in his power to hide it from Lucy. He has planned a day out for them to enjoy together. His hand flies to his pocket and he makes sure everything is in place. The small box is safely in its place and by the end of the day, it would be on Lucy’s finger. He has known for so long that he wants to marry her and today is the perfect day to ask. It’s the anniversary of the day she started her career at Mid-Wilshire.

“What’s on your mind babe?” Lucy is suddenly in front of him, her face wondering if he’s okay.

Tim smiles and pulls her in for a kiss. “I’m just thinking about my favorite person in this entire world and how happy I am that we get to spend the day together.”

Lucy’s face softens and her arms wrap around Tim’s neck. “Everyday I spend with you is my favorite baby. Work has been pretty busy recently and I’ve missed my favorite guy.”

Kojo takes that opportunity to bark and they both start laughing. “You’re one of my favorite guys too, Kojo, but you’re staying home today.” Lucy hands him a treat and he goes to lay in his bed. He is pouting and it’s kind of adorable. Lucy slips her shoes on while Tim makes sure that everything in the house is locked up. He gives Kojo an extra treat. “You’re the biggest softy babe.” She kisses his cheek and he goes to get into the truck. He wouldn’t tell her where they were headed, but she really doesn’t care. As long as they’re together, that’s all that matters to her.

Tim knows that he is a softy, but it’s only for Lucy, and of course, Kojo. “That is only reserved for you two.” He takes Lucy’s hand in his own. “Now let’s go grab lunch. I was thinking that we find our favorite food truck first.”

On cue, Lucy's stomach growls, making Tim smirk. “I think it’s time you feed me.” She giggles and they head to find Treats of Vietnam. It’s always been their spot, but it’s become their place ever since their second date.

Tim parks the truck and makes Lucy wait for him to open the door. “Thank you. You’re the best.” She draws him in for a kiss before they go to order their food. Lucy lays her head on Tim’s shoulder and she feels his lips on her head. Tim orders their food, knowing exactly what she wants. He wraps his arms around Lucy while they wait for the food to cook. His life has changed in all the best ways since Lucy came into it. The day she agreed to date him was one of his top five moments in his life. There are five moments with Lucy that make up his top five moments of his life. “I love you.” Tim whispers out.

“I love you too, Tim.” She places his hand over his heart just as their food finishes. They sit down at the table, with their legs touching. These two have never known what personal space is.

Once lunch is finished, Tim helps Lucy back to the truck. “Are you ready for the rest of our date day?”

“Always babe. You’re always spoiling me and I love it when you plan these days.” Tim surprised her when they started dating and showed her how much of a romantic he was.

Tim stares at her. “Seeing you smile makes me smile. These make you happy and that’s all that matters to me. Plus, you’re always doing so much for me.”

He drives them to their next destination, the aquarium. Lucy has always wanted to go and it’s kind of fitting for them. “This is the best day babe.” She kisses him. “And we don’t need to worry about any goats jumping in your truck.” Tim shakes his head.

“I’ve been wanting to take you, but things have been busy. Plus, we can find out which places are the best so that we can take our kids here one day.”

Lucy’s heart flutters when Tim says that. “I can’t wait to take our kids on all of our adventures.”

Tim leads her inside and he just watches her eyes light up. His hands hover along her waist. She’s wearing a sundress since it’s summer in Los Angeles and he can’t keep his eyes off her. Lucy finally catches him staring.

“What?” Lucy grabs his hand and runs her fingers along his.

Tim is still staring at her. “Have I told you how beautiful you are?”

Lucy blushes at his words. “You’re pretty handsome yourself.” Tim grabs her hand and moves to look at the next exhibit. Once again, his eyes land on Lucy. He can’t help but stare at how carefree she is.

Tim listens to her talk and get excited about the different animals. Lucy has brought the joy back into his life and made him appreciate the small things in life. With his childhood, he really never had any of this.

Tim stops by the gift shop on the way out and Lucy picks out a stuffed animal. They choose something for Jack and Emmy as well. It’s just after four by the time they’re finished. “Do you want to go grab some ice cream? Then we can take a walk on the beach before dinner.”

Lucy raises her eyebrows. “I would love ice cream, but you want to willingly go for a walk on the beach? What have you done with my boyfriend?”

Tim rolls his eyes but he has a teasing smile on his face. “I don't hate the beach as much since I met you. As usual, you’ve changed it all for me.”

Lucy holds his hand and he goes to their favorite soft serve ice cream shop. Lucy orders both chocolate and vanilla with chocolate sprinkles in a waffle cone. Tim gets chocolate with rainbow sprinkles in a waffle cone. The sun is beating down while they walk. “This has been kind of a perfect day.” Lucy looks at Tim.

“It really has Luce. Now let’s go take our walk on the beach and finish our ice cream.”

Both of them take their shoes off, placing them off to the side and walk along the shoreline. They eat their ice cream. It’s not too busy, but Tim purposely found a spot that didn’t have as many people. “I’m going to quickly run and throw our trash away.”

Lucy watches him go and then turns to look at the waves crashing along. Tim throws the trash away and sees Aaron waiting, just as he promised. He had asked him to come for a special reason. “Okay, can you take a video of Lucy and I with the waves crashing around us? You can take some pictures too, please. I just want to remember this forever.”

Aaron smiles and stands off to the side. “Of course. Thank you for trusting me with this moment.” Tim gives him a fist bump.

Tim jogs back to Lucy and she smiles when she sees him. “It’s pretty beautiful here.”

“The best view in the entire world.” When Lucy looks up, Tim is staring at her. “There’s nothing better than that.” He teases her.

Lucy slaps his chest, but she is smiling at him. “Well, I think that I have a pretty great view too.”

Tim holds her for a moment before pulling away. “These are some of my favorite moments. Being with you is easy and my favorite thing to do. I am so lucky to have you in my life and to have you by my side. Being with you the last year and a half has been nothing short of incredible.” Lucy already has tears in her eyes when Tim goes down on one knee. “I want to marry you and I want to create that family we’ve always talked about. So what do you say? Do you want to go from my girlfriend to my fiancé?”

Lucy’s hands are covering her mouth and she can’t hear anything else around her. “Yes, this is exactly what I want. I want to call you my fiancé and then my husband.”

Tim feels relief flow through him and slides the ring that he’s been holding onto for so long, onto her finger. He stands up and cradles her face. Their lips meet and he can feel her tears mix in with their kiss. “I can’t wait to marry you. This is definitely the top moment of my life.”

Lucy smiles and Tim’s thumbs wipe a few tears away. “It’s forever one of my favorite moments. I can’t wait to spend forever together.”

Aaron walks over and Tim can see that even he's emotional. Lucy’s confused to see her friend. “Tim asked me to take pictures. He failed to mention that he was finally proposing.”

Tim looks at them sheepishly. “Thanks Aaron. We appreciate you doing this.”

Aaron hugs Lucy and Tim. “Thank you for trusting me with this. Congratulations to you two.”

He leaves and Lucy looks back at Tim. Nothing else matters at this moment. “Want to skip dinner?”

Tim smirks knowing that she just wants to get home. “I think we can for now. We have some celebrating to do.” They have forever together
