Chapter Text
Chuck..Chluck..Chluck..Chluck..Chluck..Chluck
It was raining heavily, making Hong Yu Jin shiver at the cool rain and curse at his stupidity. He knew he shouldn’t have fought with his sister and moved out. And after moving out he definitely shouldn’t have moved in with his friends who keep shoving him around making him do their chores. Well that’s what penniless people do, to pay their rent. He thought, walking ahead when he heard it.
Vroooom…….Vroooooooom……..
Two cars swerved right past Yu Jin, skidding away on the wet road. Yu Jin followed up straining his neck in anticipation, Is this the midnight racing that the boys were talking about?? Ooooh boy lucky me for getting to see it live.. Maybe I should record it !! He ran over the flyover trying to capture the cars, but while recording he realised this wasn’t car racing it was more like car chasing. The matt black Mercedes AMG GT Coupe in the lead had just taken a turn at the roundabout and was coming this way. Behind it 2 - 3 cars were following the Mercedes, one of them almost ramming into it, making Yu Jin scream internally. Soon the cars were out of sight. Yu Jin sighed and walked ahead. After a while he heard the sound
Clack..BOOM
Instinctively Yu Jin ducked. He took his phone and ran towards the sound. He had called 911, and reported the incident. Finally reached the point where the gunshot had sounded. There were no people around, but the cars were abandoned. The Mercedes had its door open wide. Yu Jin couldn’t help but walk towards the car, head inside. I’m just checking the interiors, it's not everyday I’ll get a chance like this. He then moved to the backseat when there was a flurry of footsteps. Yu Jin ducked in the backseat holding his breath. Until the door closed with the bang, and the car skidded over the main road.
Yu Jin was thrown in the backseat, but the driver of the car seemed to pay no mind to it. He just drove the car at full speed while slightly groaning. Suddenly more cars appeared in the rear view mirror. The driver cursed, and accelerated the car, swerving them into a new road “the road is incomplete” Yu Jin exclaimed and then shut his mouth with his hand. The driver looked at him in the rearview mirror and gave him a cold look, and continued speeding on the road. Yu Jin could see the end of the road and realised the driver had no intention of stopping. He looked around and realised there was no way he was going to be alive. Just when the car jumped off the incomplete bridge Yu Jin remembered his sister’s face “I'm sorry Noona” A loud splash was heard of the car going underwater.
Cars chasing them gathered on top of the bridge, one man in a long jacket came out and saw as the lights of the car underwater flickered off. “Shit” he swore, walking away.
“Haaa”
Hong Heejo woke up with a start. It was after many years she had a nightmare like this. Heejo couldn’t help but check her phone. 3:00 AM. Sighing she tried to go back to sleep, when again she opened her phone and opened call logs. Hong Yu Jin called last 3 days ago. Sighing again she kept thinking to the time she last spoke to Hong Yu Jin, her younger brother.
~flashback, 3 days ago
Heejo had woken up her brother for the nth time when she finally screamed, “Hong Yu Jin you get up right away or I'm going to tear up your favourite girl groups autographed poster.” Yujin finally woke up and washed up. Heejo filled his tiffin, ruffled his hair and was on her way out when she heard Yujin curse. Heejo stopped dead in her tracks. Hearing her 17 year old brother curse was really weird. She turned around “What’s the problem?” “I’m not a kid anymore, so stop treating me like one.” Yujin scowled. “Slow down genius, there is no need to grumble early in the morning,” Heejo cautioned.
“If i'm not grumbling will you not take me seriously, I have told you hundreds of time, DO NOT PACK A TIFFIN FOR ME, JUST GIVE ME MONEY, I want to have a part time job, I don’t like it when you try to baby me and your curfew is just too much. Do you know what real life is after 8? All my classmates call me chick with you being my mother, I am your brother, so stop babying me all time!!! Is it too hard to understand Noona?” Yujin yelled. Heejo just looked at him all disappointed, “You still know I’m your noona? “ She dropped a few notes and coins on the table and stormed off.
Hong Yujin knew he was wrong, he didn’t mean to yell at his sister, but she was babying him too much. Granted she practically raised him, what with their mom abandoning them and their father for a rich man and their father losing his mind because of his wife’s betrayal. Hong Heejo, 16, had to take care of toddler Hong Yujin from a very young age. He told his friends about his fight with his sister, they patted his back saying the chick had finally come out of mother hens shadows. Any grievances the young boy had were washed away by his friends boastful words. That day itself he had moved in with his friends, and texted his sister.
“I’ll be with my friends for a while, don’t wait up for me”
Hong Heejo stared at her phone, she showed the text to her friend, Na Yuri who worked with her as a pharmacist at Nuri Homecare Hospital. “He's a young boy, he feels incapable as a brother, watching his sister work so hard, and not being able to help. I think it's completely fine with him working a part time job” Heejo nodded and decided to give him a call, asking him to come home to talk about his conditions. But the boy didn’t pick up the call. Heejo tried again before her call was cut. She sighed and dropped him a text
“We need to talk, come when your ready”
~end of flashback
It was more than 2 days later that Heejo was fed up with her brother’s silent treatment, so she chased his friends for any news. One of them assured her he was with them and he’ll send him home today. Heejo thanked him and moved on. At home she prepared a meal and waited for Yujin to turn up. It was almost midnight when Heejo got up and went to bed. Praying to god to let her brother come back home.

It was late into the night when the front door was opened with the key. Sometime later the door was closed shut. A person came towards the dining table, saw all the dishes and sighed. Packed the dishes in containers and put them in the fridge. Then he went to one door and opened it, he saw a young woman in her 20s sleeping. She had a frown on her face, the person moved towards her and got into the bed with her. The girl felt someone hold her and tried to move “Yujin? Are you back?” Heejo tiredly murmured. The person nodded in her neck. Heejo smiled sleepily and patted his head, “Noona is glad, we’ll talk more in the morning.” The person again nodded and tightened his hold on her. Soon the house was silent once again, unlike the storm ready to rise.
