Chapter 1: Episode One: I, Chrom, take this witch, Robin

Chapter Text

How does this love story start?

Well, it starts with a man who is walking across town. He witnesses another man accidentally stumbling over at the sight of that man. Embarrassed, he tries to leave, but the beautiful man laughs and helps him, asking for names.

"Uh....Chrom Ylisse," coughed the stumbling man. "And you?"

"Robin. Just Robin," the beautiful man laughed. "May I help you? You seem to bump your head?"

Chrom blushed and nodded. He lets Robin take him to a nearby hotel, requesting ice on Chrom's hand.

"So, I don't think I have seen you around before," Chrom spoke. "Are you new around here?"

"Yes, I am," Robin answered, pressing the ice on Chrom's head. "And what luck to meet the mayor's younger brother. And he is a clumsy oaf? What a lucky day."

"Hey, trust me, I have more clumsier friends than I," Chrom blushed. "But is there any reason you came here? I mean, you don't have to tell me, I was just curious."

"Well, it is indeed a private matter, but I'm glad that you are willing to get to know me," Robin answered. "Perhaps we can go somewhere to eat. Do you know any great places? Someplace where we can get to know each other?"

Chrom felt his face heat up at the thought of it. Robin was so breathtakingly beautiful that Chrom often forgot to speak, but he managed to make himself nod in agreement, much to Robin's delight.

"I know a great restaurant." Chrom spoke again. "Can I pick you up and take you?"

"Oh, Mr.Ylisse, are you asking me on a date?"

"So what if I am?" Chrom coughed.

"Than I happily accept. But what time?" Robin asked.

"Well, anytime would be perfect, as long as I am with you, dear Robin." Chrom flirted, kissing Robin's hand.

"Wow, such a charmer for someone who was stammering not so long ago," Robin pointed out. "But I humbly accept."

It wasn't long before the two started going on regular dates, learning about each other in the process. Chrom did know that Robin was much more private than him, but he never minded. Robin was quite sincere in his efforts to stay in the relationship. And it wasn't like Robin was a criminal at all, or that was what Chrom believed.

Chrom learned that Robin was methodical, thoughtful, and blunt. Robin doesn't talk about his family often, but he says that he doesn't speak to his father due to their differing opinions on many things. Chrom could understand that, as he and his older sister have that problem, but he didn't mention it.

"Well, I hope you can talk to your father one day," Chrom spoke, offering sympathy.

"Hmph," Robin huffed.

Chrom froze at that.

"I suppose that's a no?"

"No. No, and also, no," Robin answered, sipping his drink. "Chrom, I understand. You are a family man, but if you met my father, you wouldn't like him. I was this guy's son for 23 years, unwillingly. I just couldn't see myself doing that."

"Oh, I'm sorry for broaching the topic," Chrom apologized. "I didn't mean to offend you."

"No, you didn't offend me, " Robin reassured, holding Chrom's hand. "I'm glad you are quite concerned for me, and that's something not many do for me."

Chrom smiles and holds his hand back.

That was the night the lovebirds shared their first kiss underneath beautiful fireworks. Fireworks that they somehow ignore when in the bedroom, if you know what I mean.

Within a year of their relationship, Robin had met Chrom's sisters, younger sister Lissa and older sister Emmeryn.

"How much did our brother pay for you to pay him?" Lissa blurted out when she saw Robin for the first time. "I mean, wow, a person like you dating our brother?"

"Lissa," Emmeryn sighed, although trying to hide a laugh herself.

"He only pays me with his affection," Robin answered, drinking his tea. "It's nice to know that you also share his humor."

"Yeah, we are siblings after all," Lissa answered. "But seriously, how did you manage?"

"Lissa," Chrom groaned in annoyance.

"It just sort of happened, Lissa," Robin answered. "He and I simply just met and he sparked some conversation and here we are."

"Did he trip?"

"I can't disclose that."

Lissa pouted as she tried to get more information from Robin throughout the evening, but nothing came out of Robin's mouth, only witty remarks and sweet memories with Chrom.

"So, do you plan to move forward with Robin?" Emmeryn asked Chrom, looking at them. "You sure did pick a winner, you know? You should cherish him, Chrom."

"I already do, Emmeryn," Chrom spoke. "I fell so hard when I met him, and now the thought of losing him hurts my heart. I truly want a future with him, but I sometimes think about if Robin wants the same."

"Well, we are past the meeting the family stage, so I suppose we should wait for a little while," Emmeryn advised. "Just so you know, that I happily give him my blessing."

"Great....I just need to think of a ring?"

Emmeryn giggled and looked over at Chrom. She delightfully listened to his ramblings for the evenings. As the eldest daughter, she was so happy that Chrom found the person who made Chrom so weak and more emotionally open. It made her confident that Robin was the right person for Chrom.

It had only been a few months since then, and of course, Chrom had proposed to Robin on the family yacht. To his surprise, Robin was so happy that they had fallen off their boat! Those lovebirds, right?

It seems things are going their way. The wedding was private but spectacular, which is what Robin preferred. Chrom couldn't be happier being with Robin and starting their new life as newlyweds.

That was until the night of their honeymoon.

It was a typical wedding, a typical honeymoon, in a typical bridal suite. But Robin had one last secret that he didn't tell his now husband. Robin was a witch, a witch in which tales depict having magical powers, which the boy had. He never told Chrom about it, in fear of many, many things, but that night was simply a perfect night for Robin, and he thought nothing could end things.

Well, there was one thing.

Robin brushed hair in the mirror until he saw a figure he didn't want to see.

"Father." Robin groaned as he stared at the man behind him. "Why am I not surprised."

"I should be asking you that, Robin," His father spat. "What are you doing here in such a colorful place?"

Robin rolled his eyes and showed his hand, revealing the ring. "I am married now."

"I know," Valdor huffed. "As soon as I allowed you to leave my house, you suddenly went up and married another man. I should've waited until you were 30 years old."

Valdor turned, his cape flying in the air. "Come now, and we will be off."

"No, I am not leaving," Robin spoke.

"Ugh, I knew you would say that. If I wasn't an idiot, I would say that man  had hypnotized you. Typical of a man witch such as himself to do that to a fresh fruit."

"Well, I'm not afraid to say that isn't the case," Robin continued. "Chrom isn't like that. Chrom, and pardon my wording, a lovely, humble, kind, gentle, and very mortal man that I have fallen in love with."

"A mortal man? You must be kidding me." Valdor sneered. "My son, marrying a mortal man. Such an outrageous thought, indeed."

"And he is outside, waiting for me." Robin sighed. "So you have to leave, Father or else I will use more extreme methods to get rid of you."

"Oh, please, as if you can get rid of me."

"Robin?" Chrom called out. "Are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm fine," Robin grinned. "Just getting ready."

"Oh no he's not," groaned Valdor.

"Don't you dare, Father." Robin hissed towards his father. "He's my husband now."

"Relax, I ain't gonna hurt that mortal," Valdor chuckled. "Just him to leave for a couple of minutes."
💜
Chrom looked over at the door, and with a sudden blink, he was back in the lobby. He looked around and saw the guest staring at him.

"Um, must be the champagne," Chrom coughed, walking to the counter. "Um, sir?"

"Yes?"

"Can I get the copy of the room please?" Chrom asked, looking around. "I think I drank too much champagne and ended up here."

"Ah, that happens to the best of us," The clerk chuckled. "Don't worry, this happens to us, and that's why we have extra keys."

As Chrom walked back, he felt such a strange feeling. It was like magic, was it? There was no way that he was that drunk since he could walk very normally. But how could one explain how he suddenly appeared in the lobby without moving?

"Robin!" He called out, entering the suite. "I suggest you don't drink the champagne, it might make you go crazy."

No response.

"Robin?" Chrom called out again, about to knock on the door.

"Ow! What's the big idea-! You again?"

Chrom gasped and slowly turned over and saw the clerk again. He was back in the lobby again! And barely drank any other drink!
💜
"See? I barely harmed him."

"Barely," Robin scoffed. "Now, i want you to leave, or else I will send you away."

"Ha, you?" Valdor laughed. "You are a mere baby compared to a master like me."

"Fine, and since he didn't see anything yet. I decided to tell him." Robin huffed.

"Tell him? Tell him what? That you are a broom-flying, wart-faced, cauldron-spinning witch?" Valdor questioned. "Robin, if you tell him, he'll be prejudice, and if he is, then I can finally say I told you so!"

With a flash, Valdor was gone. Robin sighed and slumped down on the bed.

What's the worst that can happen? Chrom was a sweet man, only a bit misguided at times. But no one was perfect, and Robin adored Chrom for that reason alone, and he shouldn't be so negative about his newly-wedded husband.

So, he started to steel his nerves and walked out of the room, watching Chrom examining the champagne.

"Robin? Oh thank goodness, I was worried about you." Chrom sighed. "I wouldn't recommend drinking this. It makes you go crazy."

"Crazy?" Robin questioned.

"I somehow was back at the lobby twice," Chrom explained. "Now I'm holding onto my extra key in case it happens again."

"Ah, that's why I wanted to talk to you," Robin gulped, sitting Chrom down on the couch. "I believe marriage is about love, vows and most importantly honestly and there is one thing that I should tell you before we begin our lives together."

"Of course, Robin, just know," Chrom spoke. "Whatever it is, know that I will always love you, and nothing could deter me from you."

"I'm a witch."

"A what?"

"I'm a witch?"

Chrom stared at him for a moment before stammering, "Did you drink that champagne?"

"No," Robin frowned. "I am serious. I am a witch, a true broom-riding, cauldron stirring witch!"

"See, now I'm having a hard time believing that, and it's not because I don't love you, it's just that," Chrom spoke. "Look at you Robin, you are the definition of an angel, not a witch."

"Chrom, as much as I appreciate the compliment, I hope you know that was a horrible, horrible stereotype?"

"... Okay, you are right," gulped Chrom. "I didn't mean it like that. It's just that..."

"Father was right, you are prejudice."

"I am not! And frankly, I just want some proof," Chrom sighed. "If that's alright."

Robin folded his arms and looked over at the nearby cup. "Do you want something to drink?"

"Um, sure?"

Chrom looked over at the drinks and watched how the bottle of scotch floated in the air, giving Chrom an old-fashioned.

"Uh, how about a straw?"

With a smile, a straw appeared. Chrom looked over at Robin, who still had a cheeky grin on his face, sitting on the couch. This made Chrom stop for a moment, and he slowly started to fall, but with assistance from Robin, he sat down on the couch.

"You are a witch," Chrom spoke. "A real witch, a real-"

Robin smiled and kissed his forehead. "I understand that this is too much for you."

"I-I mean," gulped Chrom. "It'll take a day, I bet. But, I still love you."

Robin smiled and kissed his husband, getting on his lap. "I do, too. And I'm glad that this doesn't get in between us."

Chrom sighed and pulled Robin even closer. "I'll enjoy ever bit of this, alright. It's still our honeymoon, my love."

"Great. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't forgot."
💜
Chrom debated on telling his sisters about Robin being a witch. It was a part of Robin’s life that he hadn’t fully understood himself until recently, and the more he learned, the more complex his feelings became.

He cherished every moment with Robin, but the revelation had added a layer of concern to his thoughts. Would Lissa and Emmeryn accept Robin for who he truly was? Would they be frightened or, worse, prejudiced against someone who practiced magic? He had seen how people reacted to things they didn't understand, and the fear of their judgment nagged at him.

“Hey, are you okay?” Robin’s voice broke through his thoughts as they sat together one afternoon, enjoying a quiet moment on a park bench. The sun filtered through the leaves, casting playful shadows around them.

Chrom sighed. “I’ve just been thinking about you… about us.” He hesitated, pondering how to approach the topic without sounding overly worried.

“Us?” Robin’s gaze was inquisitive, but there was a softness in his expression that reassured Chrom. “What about us?”

Chrom took a deep breath, deciding that honesty was the best path. “It’s just… I’ve been considering telling my sisters about who you really are. About your magic. But I’m not sure how they’ll react. I worry they might not accept you.”

Robin leaned closer, their hands still clasped. “You’re worried they’ll fear what they don’t understand,” he said, seeing through Chrom’s hesitation. “And maybe that’s a valid concern. But I’m more than just my magic, Chrom. I hope they’ll see that.”

“I know you are,” Chrom replied earnestly. “But my family is protective, and they’re not used to the idea of magic, especially after what we've encountered in the past. I just… I don’t want to put you in a position where you feel judged or unwelcome.”

“I appreciate your concern,” Robin said with a soft smile, “but if they love you, they should be willing to understand me too. I’d like to meet them when you feel ready. Just be honest with them. That’s all I ask.”

Chrom nodded slowly, reassured by Robin’s confidence. “You’re right. I should be honest.”

"See? Not to hard." Robin grinned. "And I already promised that I won't use it as much."

"Yeah, we did," Chrom chuckled, bringing Robin close. "Only for massive emergencies, alright? Like a gas leak?"

"Or a flooded house."

"Or," Chrom spoke, looking at a crying child. "To make someone's day better?"

Robin giggles and twitched his nose, giving the child a new ice cream cone. They watched how the kid's faces brightened up with joy, and they happily ate their new ice cream.

"It's a nice thing being a witch," Robin chuckled.
💜
When the next family gathering rolled around, Chrom knew it was time. As they settled down for dinner, laughter, and light conversation filled the air. He took a deep breath, feeling Robin’s presence beside him as a comforting anchor.

“Can I have everyone’s attention for a moment?” Chrom began, his voice steady yet nervous. As they turned to him, he felt Robin’s hand squeeze his gently.

“I wanted to talk about Robin,” he continued, pausing as he gathered his thoughts. “You all know him, but there’s something important I haven't yet shared. Robin is… well, he’s a witch.”

Silence hung in the air for a moment, and Chrom watched as his sisters processed the information. Lissa’s eyes widened slightly, curiosity piqued, while Emmeryn maintained a calm demeanor, her brows furrowing in thought.

“Like, magic witch?” Lissa asked, tilting her head in surprise. She looked at Robin with a mixture of intrigue and uncertainty.

“Yes, magic witch,” Chrom confirmed, his heart racing. “He’s incredibly skilled and knowledgeable. But more than that, he’s a good person. He cares deeply, not just for me but for those around him.”

“And you trust him?” Emmeryn asked, her voice steady and reassuring.

“Completely,” Chrom replied, the conviction in his voice stronger than ever.

After a moment of silence, Emmeryn nodded slowly. “Then I think we should give him a chance.”

Lissa leaned forward, a grin spreading across her face. “I want to hear about the magic! Can you do cool tricks?”

Robin chuckled, visibly relaxed. “I can show you a few things, if you’re interested, Lissa. But I promise, I’m not the kind of witch you see in the stories. I’m just me.”

"Thank goodness," Lissa laughed. "I finally have a reason to get back at Chrom."

"Lissa," Emmeryn giggled.

"But I won't be doing that often." Robin clarified.

As Chrom watched his sisters warm up to Robin, a weight lifted off his shoulders. He realized that love and acceptance often come with understanding, and perhaps this was the first step toward that understanding.

At that moment, he felt a surge of gratitude for Robin, who had not only captured his heart but also brought a sense of openness and growth to his family. Whatever challenges lay ahead, he knew they would face them together, hand in hand.
💜
As they returned home, Robin couldn't help but feel Chrom's lips kiss his neck as he tried to take off his jacket.

"Chrom, I need to clean," Robin sighed. "Our kitchen is a mess."

"Oh, come on," Chrom chuckled. "We should enjoy the night. Especially since we are officially married."

"Still in the honeymoon phase?"

"Fine, I'll let you get to cleaning," Chrom chuckled. "But I hope you will get to cleaning quickly. Who knows what'll happen if you make me wait."

Robin gasped as he received a spank, and Chrom left.

"That damn man," Robin smirked and looked over at the mess. "Hmm, he did say the quickest way possible..."

Robin looked around and looked back at the steps before he twitched his nose, letting the dishes clean themselves, the broom sweeping the floor, and the counters scrubbed.

Robin turned around and walked towards the steps. "Such a great day being a witch. And a great day being a husband to."
