Seafoam

Summary:

Somewhere along the coast of an island, a particularly large wave washes over the beach, swallowing almost all of its shore. The wave slowly pulled back, and with it, a cookie-shaped figure arose from its seafoam. It was deformed, melting, barely held together.

Chapter 1: Birth

Chapter Text

It was a full moon.

The moonlight softly irradiated all in its light, including the giant expanse of the lustrous blue sea. The tides rose, and the waves grew.

Inside her quarters, Sea Fairy slowly stirred out of slumber. Her crystalline shortsword still held tightly in hand. She carefully stood up, and walked ever so solemnly to the nearest window. Now knowing that the night had blanketed earthbread, she had to get a glimpse of her love.

Moonlight Cookie, the one that had been there for her in her loneliest of times, the one that had comforted her at her lowest with its warm glow, her one, true love, that she wished she could hold.. if only she could reach her.

Her gaze locked on the moon, where her love resided. She reached her free hand out, trying to grasp the moon. But then, she withdrew her hand, and set it on the handle of her sword. She was far too low, she needed to climb higher, she thought.

She hurried over and exited her quarters, her hand lifting up the hem of her dress just enough so she could run freely. She rushed to climb the seemingly infinite set of stairs of her tower, her hair flowing freely in the wind as she did. She cannot wait any longer, time is merely finite, and she cannot keep her waiting.

The moon slowly came back into view as she arrived at the end of her tower, her eyes darting over to the starry night, and with it, the moon. A balcony of sorts extended from her tower made of the sea, just so she could get a better view. Though, it wouldn't do, she must go even higher.

And so the tower grew taller, and taller, and taller, spiraling as it went on. Draining the endless ocean around them. If only it took an ocean's worth to reach you, my love.

And so it went as high as it could, and by the end, it felt like she could reach the stars. She outstretched her hand as far as it could. So close, she was almost..

Although, it wasn't enough. It was never enough. What a fool she was to think that it could ever be enough.

Her remaining hope, however little, made her reach out harder. Making her think that if she could just hold out a little longer, she could finally feel the moon.

But her efforts were futile. No amount of reaching out could ever make her finally reach the moon. She retracted her hand, and she slowly descended from her balcony, as her tower dwindled back to its original size.

She looked down at the ground. She really was looking forward to seeing her love. She really thought it could've been tonight. Her heart ached at the thought, and she was, once again, filled with nothing but empty bitterness and sorrow.

How she longed for Moonlight, to hold her, to have her, to see her comforting smile, her beautiful, lavender eyes. To feel her warmth warm her cold, unfeeling heart.

She lifted her head to look at the moon. Shining so radiantly in all its glory, oh, if only..

“My moonlight…” Her voice trembled as she called out her love’s name.

Her stagnant neutral expression slowly faltered, and her eyes welled with tears, blurring her vision. She cannot let her sadness obscure her vision of the moon, so she blinked, and her tears ran gracefully down her face.

..Sob.. Sobbing, quietly sobbing. Soon after, a rush of new tears ran after and her tears fell to the sea below.

Her tears were washed over by the ocean's calm waves, dissolving, mixing, stirring, before later becoming one with the sea.

Calmness seemed to disappear with it too, and the waves grew angrier, and angrier, as if Sea Fairy was mad at the fate she was given. Her sobs turned into cries, though their sound was drowned out by the enraged waves of the sea.

Somewhere along the coast of an island, a particularly large wave washes over the beach, swallowing almost all of its shore. The wave slowly pulled back, and with it, a cookie-shaped figure arose from its seafoam. It was deformed, melting, barely held together.

It turned its head to the only available light source, the moon. The cookie's eyes, if you could even call the two holes poked into its face ‘eyes’, widened at the sight. Gorgeousness incarnate, beautifully placed in the ink black sky, complimented by the dots of lights scattered across..

It flung its arms towards the moon in an attempt to grab it, which in turn, made them trip and stumble, plunging themselves face first into the sand. It groaned at the blunt pain that came with it.

It laid in the sand for a hot moment, before It pushed itself up with one hand. And fell into the sand again. They pushed themselves up once more, this time, adding another hand. It wiggled its legs, checking to see if it could move them, then shortly after used them to stand back up on its own two feet, albeit slowly.

It looked back up at the moon. This time, they won't try to grab it, maybe they'll walk towards it instead. It held its hands up, pointing them at the moon, and slowly walked in its direction.
