Chapter Text
PRESENT DAY
Sakusa had forgotten that the documentary was going to air today. In fact, the premiere took place a few days ago, but he couldn't be less excited for it, so he begged Kuroo to let him stay at home, which worked out.
These last few months have been a bit tiring. When the launch of Done For Me occurred, many producers contacted the band, but the best proposal won, and the documentary began to be produced. They used footage from the beginning of production of Lust For Life , they recorded a lot of things in the following months, and of course, in the final part, there was the interview. Sakusa didn't want to be interviewed, but what could he do? He was sad, alone and exhausted, an interview would be nothing compared to everything that had happened.
It was a mistake. He should have denied doing the damn interview, because he somehow opened up too much about his feelings and in the end, he got even more miserable than he already was.
Now here he is, a few months after the album's release, in the middle of the fruit and vegetable section of a local supermarket. Honestly, he deeply regrets going, not only because he had already gone grocery shopping earlier in the week, but he also hated to think that with every product he touched, at least 20 people had touched it throughout the day. However, all the paparazzi also knew about his hatred for these places, and therefore, the chance of being filmed or photographed was minimal.
Sakusa heads to the candy section, without even putting a piece of fruit in his cart. He thinks about buying chocolate chip cookies, candies, a tub of mint ice cream, but the reality is that he doesn't like eating sweets in such an unregulated way, he's never been the guy who needs a dessert after lunch, he's never been someone like-
Shit
Kiyoomi looks at the clock.
Great, 14 minutes and 32 seconds without thinking about him.
Okay, maybe he actually needs a pint of ice cream.
As he leaves the aisle, he heads towards the checkout, depressed about his failed attempt to use the supermarket as a bubble, where he would only think about whatever he wanted to think about, where he wouldn't think about him.
Arriving there, he almost collapsed on the floor remembering that as it was a small market, there was no self check-out option, obligating him to make his first social interaction of the day. Yet, the last thing he wanted was to freak out in the middle of the establishment, and for that reason, he just sighed and went to the first empty cash register.
“Good afternoon!” The young attendant says with a smile on her face. Sakusa tries to smile, but feels like he failed to do so.
“Good afternoon” He says with a broken voice. He notices that the young woman looks at him several times, so he just waits for her to say:
“I thought you would be watching the documentary” She must notice that he doesn’t respond right away “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude, I just thought you’d be excited about the release… I’ve been a fan since the first single!” She finishes smiling.
Sakusa decides not to be a jerk.
“Thank you for the support” He realizes that he does need to say more “Hm, I was really looking forward to watching the documentary, but… hm… I realized that I really needed a…” He looks at the shopping bag “big pint of mint ice cream… Yes, I mean, I would never be able to watch it without it” Sakusa realizes how pathetic this scene must have been, but surprisingly, the young woman continues smiling.
“I'm glad you're excited then! I really want to get home and watch it too” She smiles one last time.
After paying, Kiyoomi of course agrees to take a photo with her, but just before he walks through the exit door, he hears her saying.
"Tell Atsumu that Pretty Boy is my favorite song!"
Sakusa pretends not to hear.
…
When he gets home, he takes his time taking a hot shower, getting ready and finally getting his ice cream (which was apparently the most important thing in the world, as he said), and when he realizes that there is nothing more he can do to waste time, he finally goes to the living room.
He sat on the couch with his ice cream and a bottle of white wine. Who cares if this combination makes sense, he just wants to drink , eat and sleep.
Sakusa starts the film.
