Chapter 1: Day 1

Chapter Text

Oh that is the most beautiful man Hajime has ever seen hovering above him with a concerned expression. Has he died? Is this heaven? The beating sun and the throbbing in his temple say no but the angel above him says different.

A few seconds go by and the man’s mouth is moving but he can’t understand a thing he’s saying to him. The ringing in his ears is subsiding and he can catch snippets. “...ok?”

“Huh?” his voice is a rasp

“Are you ok?” You passed out!” The man’s eyebrows are furrowed deep and there’s sweat, but Hajime doesn’t know if it’s from concern or the frankly sweltering heat they’re in. He hopes it’s concern. He maneuvers his arms under him to sit up, sand crunching under his hands. Sand?

“Yeah, it's just…my head hurts.”

“I would imagine so!” The man’s voice was as angelic as his face, light and airy, like the vocal manifestation of a cloud.

The other man put his hand out for Hajime, pulling him onto his feet. He was about the same height as Hajime, but he was slim, almost badly so, so he made a mental note to ask if he was eating. His hair reminded Hajime of a Dogwood tree in full bloom in the spring,

He must have been staring because the other man chuckled at him.

“Do you know where we are?” The last thing Hajime remembered was entering a classroom and then a white rabbit toy who could talk, whisking him away and he was here. Hajime could smell and hear the ocean behind him, salty and pungent.

“Somewhere that toy who keeps calling herself our teacher, called Jabberwock Island. The name of the island slightly rang a bell with Hajime, far in the back of his brain he could recall something but he wasn’t exactly sure what it was.

Something was missing inside of his skull, something important. Hajime shook his head, trying to get the bad feeling he was experiencing to go away, or denying it.

He looked at the angel faced boy in front of him again and remembered himself.

“Well, I haven’t introduced myself yet. My name is Hajime Hinata, nice to meet you!”

Hajime stuck his left hand out for the other boy to shake.

“My name’s Nagito, Nagito Komaeda.”
