Work Text:
Ray always woke up late. He was usually hungover and slept through at least seven alarms before begrudgingly waking up to get to class.
That morning was different. He woke up just as the sun was rising with his bladder threatening to burst. Sand had made him drink an entire glass of water just before bed to keep him hydrated. Ray could not deny after the way Sand had saved him from the asshole at the bar.
Ray shook his head gently to not wake Sand up. A lot had been different since Sand came into his life. He had been different since Sand came into his life. Ray could not wrap his head around all of it so he just decided to take it one thing at a time. Bladder first.
Ray got up, went to pee and got back. He stopped at the door and just watched Sand for a few moments. He slept curled slightly towards Ray, head tilted towards Ray's side of the bed and hand resting between their pillows. Ray was amazed that he had a designated side of the bed now.
Sand's hair was mussed and he slept with his mouth slightly open. Sand's mouth was perfect. His lips fit Ray's like they were made for it. His lips were also very good kissing every other part of him. Ray shivered a little from standing in just his underwear and a little from the memories of last night.
Their first time together was all heat and passion but every time after they had been slowing down, taking their time, enjoying each other, savouring each other as long as they could.
Ray slid back into bed and Sand, still sleeping, opened his arms for him. Ray curled up around Sand throwing a leg over him and holding his waist. He didn't know if that's allowed in their arrangement. He wasn't even sure what their arrangement was anymore. He just knew that he did not want it to end. They were having fun. He was having so much fun.
A smile appeared on his face without his bidding. He let it stay in the quiet of the morning. Sand sighed softly and snuggled closer. He smelled like sweat and last night's smoke. Ray breathed in deep and moved closer to Sand. Maybe waking up early wasn't so bad after all. He wondered if Sand ever looked at him when he woke up first. Probably not, that wasn't really what friends did, was it? He didn't mind though. He would take what Sand would give. Ray's eyes were heavy again. He took a last look at Sand in the soft morning light before closing his eyes.
Ray had always ached with a want he was too scared to name. He now named it Sand and buried it deep within his heart.
