Chapter Text
that's (mostly) canon btw. I did not make that up

ik there's no music but imagine it just cut out for dramatic effect. maybe throw in some desolate wind ambiance for good measure.

love them <3
Der Freischütz wasn't supposed to be a tragedy. It was a story of love, a story of hope.
They forgave Max because he was backed into a corner. People do some pretty stupid things when they're desperate, right? Surely there were extenuating circumstances. Surely he's worth saving in spite of everything.
And then there was Kaspar.
Light has triumphed over the darkness, they sang, as he lay dying in the background. What a beautiful, romantic ending, they said, shoving his body under the rug to rot.
No one ever asked if he wanted this. No one ever asked how he got here, to the point of selling his soul, to the point of cursing a friend, to the point of death. No one ever asked if he was worth saving, too.
So let's be sad about him together :DOr, to put it simply: Kaspar backstory
So to be clear. This is a different continuity from Act 3 But Depressing. I decided I wanted to go back to the original ending :P ironically, this comic is still depressing, but that's because it's about the one character who didn't get a happy ending in the first place, hence the title.
I am so normal about this fucking guy. He just. Literally no one else cares about this random opera guy. But my sleepy brain. Made him a depressed twink and let him take over.
I hope you enjoy his shenanigans
btw the square text boxes are narration and/or thoughts as opposed to dialogue. If that wasn't clear
I'll link the transcript when it's ready
