The group is together at the park, the winds of winter blowing through the atmosphere. Obviously the lake is too cold to swim or, at the very least, dip their feet into, so while Komugi runs around and Yuki rests by the lake, trying not to fall in, Satoru holds Daifuku in his lap as he sits with Iroha and Mayu.
Realizing he forgot something - this being a picnic basket (the group's about to have a late fall picnic), the boy sets his rabbit on the bench and temporarily leaves. And now it's just Iroha and Mayu.
The latter sits happily and comfortably, watching as the pets do their own thing. That's when something crosses her mind. While she does want her friends to be happy, she knows that there's no way to win in the battle against her own feelings.
"Umm... Iroha-chan?"
The redhead with turquoise eyes turns around, still in her usual friendly mood. "Yeah?"
"I've got something important to say..."
Despite her stuttering, the red-eyed brunette speaks just fine. "Lately, I've been feeling a little strange..."
"Oh... Are you sick?"
"No-no, it's not that... Umm..." Mayu's ready to spit it out. "How you feel..when you're with Satoru-kun...I...I feel like that towards you...!"
This takes Iroha by surprise. "Huh?!"
"Y-Yeah... I've kinda been feeling this way for a long time." Mayu stands up, smiling and twirling around, her hands clasped. "I wanted to tie, spin, and weave myself to you, Iroha-chan! Though..."
Then she sits back down. "...since you're already with Satoru-kun, I don't know if I have a chance..."
"Mayu."
....?
"Just because I'm dating Satoru doesn't mean I think any less of you. I accept your feelings, though I don't know too much about having multiple lovers... aha..."
Thinking it means 'no', Mayu starts to feel rejected, the bottoms of her eyes leaking with tears.
"But I wanna learn, I really wanna! I love everyone...!" says Iroha. "Boys, girls, animals... if they're happy, I'll be happy, too!"
Iroha takes Mayu's hands in hers. "Now smile, Mayu-chan! You, me, Satoru-kun - our hearts will be woven together!"
The smile on the latter's face returns. "Iroha-chan... Your smile lights up my whole world~"
And now we've got a poly Iroha with her two loves, Satoru and Mayu!
"C'mon, Mayu, let's help set up the picnic!"
As the two leave, a question enters Mayu's head.
"Iroha-cha... Iroha? Can I do your makeup later?"
"Of course~"
