Work Text:
It had been a few weeks since Sunny moved from Faraway to Nearby. It was only an hour away from location to location, yet the distance still felt massive, especially after what happened before. Not only telling the truth of what happened with Mari to his friends, but also having to see their reactions was quite the blister for the young dreamer.
However, Sunny didn’t expect to hear that they were more than willing to make amends with him even despite his accidental murder of his own sister. Aubrey was at first reasonably mad, but in due time she realized that Sunny’s position in that time period must’ve been really stressful, and she hadn’t been any better with her being a delinquent. She even surprisingly made amends with Basil, despite his role in staging Mari’s death as a suicide.
Kel also got around, much faster than Aubrey. That’s Kel for you, bad news never really gets him down too badly. He’s a very forgiving person.
Hero was the last one up, and reasonably he wasn’t the most happy with what Sunny had told him. However, he was also an adult, and reasonably more mature, possibly due to him studying to be a doctor, so he probably could control his stress and convert it into something more manageable. He told Sunny that he wasn’t sure if he wanted to forgive him and Basil fully yet for what they did, even if it was an accident. However, he did also say he will think about it and will try to come to terms with it. After a week or two, Hero did call Sunny’s mom and asked if he could get on the phone with him. He admitted to the boy that, while he is still reasonably mad, he also knows that Sunny and Basil were both 12 when they did their actions, both accidental and thoughtful ones, and that if he was in that situation he’d probably do something rash too. Taking another’s life isn’t an easy thing to handle. Plus, he acknowledged that he was a bit more relieved than anything, that Mari truly was happy and not secretly depressed. He was glad that everything was just a really bad accident.
It was a very emotional phone call.
Ever since then, he talked with his friends on the phone a lot. He was mostly the silent type, but he did enjoy listening to his friends ramble. Especially Basil. He thought of Basil as a really good pal to listen to, especially after what happened before he moved. Basil really did regret taking out Sunny’s eye, but Sunny knew why. They were both having a shared hallucination in the form of SOMETHING, the result of their shared trauma in Mari’s death. Sunny told Basil that he shouldn’t apologize, because he already forgave him a long time ago.
Sunny did mind that he didn’t have an eye anymore, and so his peripheral vision was permanently damaged, but he didn’t blame Basil for it. Really, he just blamed himself again. If he hadn’t pushed Mari on that day, before the recital, none of this would’ve happened. But…at least nowadays things are better, for everyone.
Especially for Sunny, because a week after he moved, Kel sent him quite the gift. Apparently Kel was secretly stocking up on some cash, and thought of giving Sunny a ‘wish you were here’ gift. Sunny wasn’t really a ‘gamer’ per se. He did play on the Gameboy a few times in the past, mainly playing Tetris, but other than that the most you’d get him playing would be a card game on his computer.
But Kel managed to scarf up some cash and buy him a full fledged gaming console, and a game to boot! However, it was a console Sunny didn’t hear about. A Neo-Geo.
Sunny didn’t know what a Neo-Geo was, nor what SNK was, but he thought that it didn’t hurt to play it and see what it all was about, especially since Kel sent him a game dubbed ‘The King Of Fighters ‘97’.
And, from that day onward, Sunny became obsessed with that game. He never realized he had a passion for fighting games, but he absolutely loved playing the game to the brink. Inputting combos, trying to best the super tough arcade mode, even sometimes doodling some of the characters in his sketchbook while he was in lunch at school.
He especially loved playing Team Orochi. He didn’t quite know why, but they appealed to him in a major way. Maybe it was because of their status as villains, or their designs, but they were super fun to play. Sunny was a bit more of a Chris player at heart, however he could play Shermie and Yashiro just as well.
He especially loved them after he discovered and unlocked the ‘awakened’ variants, with new movesets and all. He switched over to those variants too.
He really did thank Kel for giving him something to do. A new passion was always a good thing.
Though, he also knew his previous passion for resting was also strong, so he decided to turn the Neo-Geo off and get ready for bed. He wondered what he’ll dream tonight.
After telling the truth, his dreams became a bit more wild. Sometimes he would return to Headspace, with Omori being there, but it was mostly relaxing, simply chilling in the Vast Forest with the dream world counterparts of his friends. He was surprised that Omori didn’t want some kinda revenge, but he guessed Omori really wasn’t the one to want to run it back, especially when he was proven wrong that Sunny’s friends would hate him for what he did.
Sometimes, though, Sunny would have more abstract dreams, and of course the occasional nightmare. He didn’t quite remember those as much as the Headspace dreams, but he did know the nightmares were very bad. He’s glad he would forget them after a bit.
Hopefully tonight it won’t be a bad dream.
…
“Aubrey what are you doing?!”
Huh? Oh, weird. This was on the first day when Sunny decided to come outside for the first time since four years. This was when he saw Aubrey for the first time in a long time, with her new gang of delinquents. It was at the park, and this was also the time he accidentally slashed a knife at her.
Oh no, was this a bad dream? Is this his mind punishing him for THAT? He guessed the nightmares of Mari’s body haunting him were getting old now.
Well, he supposed he should get this over with.
“Stop messing with Basil!” Kel yelled loudly, marching forward to the cold, pink haired bully of a girl. “How could you?! We all used to be friends, remember?” He looked off to the side of the raven haired boy, “Tell her Sunny!”
Well since this was a dream, and he was at least pretty lucid, he could probably talk and explain what’ll go down. He didn’t know what’d happen if he did, but it was a dream, it wouldn’t affect him TOO too badly.
“I—“ Before he could speak, Aubrey cut him off, “Sunny? Wow, it really is you. It’s been a while but you haven’t changed a bit. How long has it been since you left your house? Three years? Maybe four? Must’ve been nice living in your own bubble.”
Ouch, even despite now making up and being good friends that line still hurts. At least now she knows why he became a recluse.
“Watch it Aubrey!” Kel fired back, with a pout, “You don’t know what he’s been through.”
“Hmph…whatever.”
Basil took a step forward, probably ready to ask Aubrey for the photo album back, “Aubrey! Please…listen to me…” However, Kim, one of Aubrey’s delinquent friends, came in and socked Basil in the chest, prompting him to shut up. Funnily enough, whenever Sunny called Aubrey, she would sometimes bring up how she even thought Kim was being a tiny bit excessive with her punching Basil like that. Though, she wasn’t much better, with her knocking Basil in the lake.
“Hey, stop that!” Kel yelled out, pointing a finger at Kim. Aubrey, looking off to the side, then back at Kel, stepping forward with a menacing glare, “Leave it alone, Kel. This isn’t your problem.”
“What the heck is wrong with you, Aubrey?! Ugh…Sunny! C’mon we’ve got to do something!”
Oh god here it comes. Time to stab your childhood friend slash crush again at the park.
God, he wants to die.
“Haha…are you guys really picking a fight?” Aubrey said with a smirk, “Sure, why not? The two of you against me! How’s that sound? Come at me!”
Well, sorry dream-version-of-the-past-Aubrey, but this happened before, and it was time for Sunny to play his part in this fateful encounter.
Time to just pull up…the…knife?
Huh?
“W-Wow Sunny?! Did you catch your hand on fire with…purple flames?!” Kel said out loud, causing Sunny to recoil and look at his hand.
Ok, so, not a knife, probably the opposite of a knife cause a knife is physical. Fire is…not physical. Also PURPLE FIRE?! I mean, it doesn’t burn, so it must’ve been casted from his own body, but still WHAT?!
“Oh, neat party trick, I am so scared.” Aubrey said with a mocking tone, whilst also raising a fist, “Come on, Sunny, it’s gonna take more than that to intimidate me!” She swung her arm, however Sunny managed to block it—quite successfully oddly enough—and managed to do a counter hit by doing an upward swiping motion, causing his flames to spread outwards onto Aubrey, causing a loud grunt from her.
That was when Sunny knew…that this was definitely not a normal dream.
Aubrey laid on the ground, gasping for air as she slowly stood up, looking positively freaked out. “W-What the fuck?! That fire was real?!” Luckily it wasn’t TOO too flammable, but even so Sunny was equally freaked out. “Also when the hell did you get a wardrobe change?!”
Sunny looked down. Huh, his vest was a bright maroon instead of a charcoal black, and his white shirt was now a dark gray. That was…
Oh…
Oh he just realized what was happening.
Of course he’d have a dream about KOF, and of course it had to be weird. Well, Orochi Sunny just hoped things didn’t get any weirder.
Suddenly, a flash of lightning struck the ground, causing a loud yelp from a few of the Hooligans, namely Kim and The Maverick. Where did that come from?
Sunny looked off to the side, and saw Basil standing up, his clothes changed as well as he looked rather anxious over a literally and figuratively shocked Kim. “I-I am so sorry!”
Basil now had more purple hair, replacing his Goldilocks blonde, with his white shirt turned black, and his sweater a mix between a deep purple and a scarlet. His pupils were also now a deep red, replacing his calming blues for something more sinister.
Well, if Sunny is meant to be Orochi Chris in this scenario, then Basil, with his newfound electricity powers, is Orochi Shermie. An odd choice for the dream to make, especially since Shermie is very much a flirt, and Basil is, well, the exact opposite, but it probably was the best choice in all honesty. Aubrey wouldn’t work since when has she EVER flirted? Hero wouldn’t work because he wasn’t here yet. Mari wouldn’t work because…you know. And Kel wouldn’t work because his idea of flirting is by trying to show a girl how much hot dogs he can eat before throwing up. Basil, with his flowers and his deep appreciation for his friends does have the elements of a romantic type of individual. He wouldn’t see Basil flirting with anyone, God help us all if Basil did try to hook up with someone with a line or catch phrase, but at least there is some very loose connection.
“I-I am so-so-so sorry! I didn’t know I could do that!” Orochi Basil kept apologizing, but Kim just looked increasingly freaked out. “Everyone! Scram! These guys got some weird ass magic!” Aubrey yelled out, with everyone proceeding to run, abandoning their scooters.
However, Kel seemed to still want some answers as to why Aubrey was picking on Basil—if only he knew then—and so he…
Jumped in the air?
Put his hand on Aubrey’s head?
Flipped around on her head to land?
And is now face to face with Aubrey?
Huh…where did Orochi Sunny see that move before?
“You still hadn’t told us anything! Why are you bullying Basil!” As Kel said this, his clothes became slightly different. Not too different, as his tank top and shorts went from an orange to a bright red, and his eyes became red as well, but other than that he looked mostly the same. Guess he must be filling in for Orochi Yashiro then.
“Ugh! Move!” She stepped out of the way, and quickly got a way before Orochi Kel could do much more interrogating. “Aubrey…dang it she got away.” He walked forward, now properly noticing Orochi Sunny’s and Orochi Basil’s new appearances, and clearly new skills. He probably didn’t realize it because he was too focused on Aubrey. “Ok…for starters…when did you all take an appreciation for the color red?”
“W-What?!” Orochi Basil looked down, seeing his new outfit, “T-This isn’t my outfit. What happened?” Suddenly, a zap of electricity sparked from his fingers as he pulled at his vest, causing the awakened flower boy to coil back. “And what’s with these zaps?!” He slumped over, his knees buckling under the clearly stressful powers that he just so happened to get. As Orochi Basil was hyperventilating, Orochi Kel walked to him and gave him a pat on the back, “Hey, it’s okay buddy. I am sure this can be all explained in due time.” He looked off at Sunny with a puzzled expression, “Right? Do you have any clue Sunny?”
Good thing Orochi Sunny was more confident in his voice now. He supposed he should explain what these new powers entail for his friends. He did read some lore in the manual of KOF 97 about these alternate forms, so he had a good grasp on what was going on. “Well…” He cleared his throat. God was it always that scratchy? “...I uh looked into this kinda stuff before coming out of the house, and well…we kinda transformed.”
“Transformed? Like in some kinda anime?” Orochi Kel asked.
“Sort of.” Orochi Sunny shrugged, “These powers are represented because an ancient, human hating deity known as Orochi is essentially giving us his energy to revive him and end humanity. We’re three out of four of the Heavenly Kings that are meant to revive him. I got fire powers, Basil got lightning, and I assume you have some earthly powers in you Kel.”
Orochi Kel immediately looked shocked, before shaking his head to clear the confusion, “Ok–ok–ok! So we have these sick new powers…but they’re the result of some evil god?!”
“I mean yeah? Don’t quite know why…” Well, Orochi Sunny did know, as this was just a dream, probably as a result of playing too much KOF. “Maybe our families had some ties to Orochi. Either way…I kinda don’t wanna end humanity by reviving Orochi. Do you guys?”
Orochi Basil, who was silent for most of the time, looked up and shook his head, “I rather not. I'd rather just…go home.” He stood back up, before his eyes seemed to glimmer with something, “Actually, I-I need to tell you all something. Um, you see, Aubrey stole my photo album.”
“What?! That’s so rude of her!” Orochi Kel spat out, clearly quite mad. “Don’t worry Basil, we’ll be sure to get it back for you.”
“Well I was thinking,” Orochi Sunny spoke, “if you have these powers, Basil, why don’t you tag along with us and provide some support if things get dire.”
“You mean, fight?”
“Yeah.”
Orochi Basil looked off to the side, clearly lost in thought. Orochi Kel merely nudged Orochi Sunny, “I don’t know Sunny. Wouldn’t using these powers for harm be wrong?”
“Don’t worry,” Orochi Sunny gave a light smile, “it’ll only be for self defense. And clearly Aubrey and Kim didn’t get hurt too badly. If they push, we’ll just push back. Simple.” He put on a resolute expression in his body language, clearly sure that things will still go fine even despite having energy from an evil god by his side. “I am sure nothing bad will happen.”
As the two talked, Orochi Basil walked up and placed a hand on Orochi Sunny’s shoulder, “O-Ok, if you say so. Let’s try to find Aubrey and get my photo album back.” He put on a light smile, probably a bit more confident after Sunny’s words.
Well, there was no time to waste! Sunny already knew where Aubrey was—the church—but he might as well play along and talk with the Hooligans first. First up was Kim and Vance over at the stores, specifically in the candy store of Other Mart.
The three walked over to where the two delinquent siblings were at, with both of them stealing a bag full of taffy. However, they noticed the three’s presence, and Kim immediately stood up looking at Orochi Basil, “Hey hey hey! I didn’t sign up for more shock therapy you creep!” However, much to her dismay, Orochi Basil stepped forward with a calm yet pleading face. “But Kim, this is important. W-We need to find Aubrey. I want my photo album back.”
“Listen, if you have beef with her, look somewhere else. We don’t want any of your trouble anymore.” Vance said before punching his hand into his palm with a toothy grin, “Unless you wanna get smacked upside the head!”
At that moment, electricity seemed to start sparking from Orochi Basil’s body, causing him to panic a bit more. “L-Listen, I don't wanna fight! Just tell us where Aubrey is!”
Luckily for him, and also for Kim and Vance, the candy store’s owner, Ms. Candice seemed to have overheard the commotion and came rushing over. “What the hell is going on over here?!” She then gasped, seeing the bag full of taffy in Kim’s hand, “Are you two STEALING again?!” Even with his newfound abilities, Sunny was still quite scared of Ms. Candice. No wonder she became the inspiration for Sweetheart in Headspace. “Put that candy back or so help me God I will call the cops!”
Rather not face Candice’s wrath, Kim and Vance grumbled as they went back and put the candy back. Well, that was anticlimactic, but at least violence didn’t happen.
As expected, once they got out of Other Mart, they found Mikhael, or as he liked to be called, The Maverick, standing around the fountain trying to get girls with some cash. The other day Aubrey called Sunny and they talked about what was going on between them, and Aubrey noted that Mikhael had actually found a girlfriend in a girl that actually moved into Sunny’s old home. Even she was flabbergasted, especially since the girl seemed like the type to hate Mikhael’s showboating persona, but hey, stranger things have happened before.
Unfortunately, in the dream, Mikhael was still quite unfortunate about his luck with the ladies, and the girls he wanted to bribe into being his girlfriend just walked away. He pouted, before swishing to the side, “Pah! They’re just missing out on The Maverick’s charming ways!”
Well, guess this was our cue, cause Orochi Kel was walking up to him. “Hey, Mikhael!” He alerted the fake blondie, causing him to look at the earthy boy with a scowl, “Ah, if it isn’t Kel…my arch nemesis!”
“Dude. What?”
“Finally here to admit defeat, have you?”
“Ugh, listen I don’t have time for this Mikhael, we need to find Aubrey so Basil can get his photo album back.”
At the mention of Mikhael’s real name, the boy stomped on the ground, looking like he was gonna lose it, “Stop calling me that! I cast away that name a long time ago!”
“Mikhael, do you know where she is, or not?” Orochi Kel had his hands on his hips, looking over at Mikhael with a raised brow. Orochi Sunny never realized how tall he was, but looking at him almost towering over Mikhael did put things into perspective. “Again with that godforsaken name!” Mikhael lashed out, “H-How dare you make a fool out of me! I, The Maverick, will not stand for this!”
He went into a battle stance—most definitely seen in an anime—and got ready for battle, “PREPARE TO FACE YOUR DOOM!”
This just caused Orochi Kel to pinch his eyebrows in annoyance, “Please Mikhael…don’t do this to yourself. I’m going to ask one more time—“
“Fight me you wad! Don’t be a chicken!”
Orochi Kel rolled his eyes, looking back at Orochi Sunny and Orochi Basil who also looked rather annoyed at Mikhael’s antics. “Sigh…are we really going to do this? Okay then…I guess I’ll take you down.”
Mikhael laughs like a flamboyant villain in an anime, “Oh Kel, you pitiful fool…You don’t stand a chance against The Maverick!”
Mikhael ran up to Kel, and raised his hand in a chopping motion. Probably some kind of karate move. Unfortunately for The Maverick, Kel blocked the move. “Wha?! How did my move get blocked?!”
Well, technically now things can be classed as self defense. Orochi Kel, in a counter move, rushes towards Mikhael and gets him into a bear hug. He readjusts himself so he’s behind the wig wielding menace, and does a leaping suplex on the poor guy. Safe to say, Mikhael was defeated.
Orochi Kel wiped a sweat off his brow, clearly not quite used to his new found strength yet, as he looked on at Mikhael, who lay on the floor dazed and most certainly in pain. He would be more sympathetic, but it was Mikhael, so who cares. “Well, that’s two minutes of my life I am never getting back.”
Well, Mikhael was a done deal. Guess it was time to go to the park and try and get Angel and Charlie to listen to reason.
As Orochi Sunny led the party of three, Orochi Kel nudged his shoulder on Orochi Basil, getting his attention. “Man, honestly I never felt this strong and confident before. I mean, I have always been kinda like that, but now I feel it more than ever, like I really do wanna fight. Like, uh…” Orochi Kel laughed a bit under his breath, “I don’t wanna go around beating people up, but like, I kinda wanna fight some really strong people, you know?”
“I…I mean I kinda get what you mean. These powers do make me feel a bit stronger too. At least now I can defend myself a bit better.” Orochi Basil rubbed his arm, “I just wonder how Polly will think. Like, oh yeah, totally normal that your kid you have been a guardian for since six years ago would come back home with purple hair and electricity powers he got from an evil being.” He pouted, a bit uncharacteristic for Basil, but not the oddest reaction ever from him, “This is so dumb. Why does the world gotta be so dumb.”
“Heh, you kinda sound like Aubrey.”
“She can be in the right sometimes.”
Their conversation was cut short when they rounded the bend of the park and saw Charlie, tending to some flowers. “Yo Charlie!” Orochi Kel called out to the big girl, causing her to look around and see him. The silent giant tilted her head as the earthy boy waved happily to her, “Hey, so, sorry to bother you again today, but we were looking for Aubrey. Do you know where she is?”
Charlie, being the ever silent type, shook her head, before tending to her flowers again. This caused Orochi Basil to step forward, clearly a bit more mindful than his other two friends, “Please Charlie. I know we don’t talk much but I—“
“What are you three doing here?!” Angel said, creeping from inside a tree. Oh yeah, him. Sunny forgot that he was around when Charlie was too. They were hanging out together. Right, right…
Out of all the Hooligans, aside from Aubrey, Angel was at least somewhat a competent fighter with his speed. Still not really one to take seriously, but at least he had some sense of combat.
Still though, he was in a tree. How did he even get up there again? Was he trying to be a monkey? Charlie looked up, and proceeded to walk over to the tree, and punch it, causing Angel to fall down. Not a graceful landing for someone named so holy.
“Ugh…Charlie what’d you do that for?!” He got up and brushed off his pants, “Ugh nevermind. Anyways, what are you three doing back here after scaring us all half to death with your weird fire and lightning powers?” While Orochi Basil was about to explain, he was cut short, again, by Angel chuckling whilst rubbing his hands, “Ohoho! I understand! You came to me to be worthy adversaries! You dare challenge the great and mighty Angel?!”
Oh yeah, he was also very much a student to Mikhael’s whole ‘aspiring and cool anime protagonist’ schtick. Literally a student. He calls Mikhael his master. He still does. Those two are like brothers in spirit, much to the chagrin to everyone involved in their antics.
“Angel, we don’t have time for this…we just dealt with Mikhael spouting the same nonsense.” Orochi Kel said, hands crossed with a tired look on his face, “We just want to find Aubrey, do you know where she is?”
“Hmm you seek Aubrey? Interesting! I will tell you what I know…but first you must beat me in battle!”
While Orochi Kel didn’t regret putting Mikhael in his place, he didn’t really wanna do the same to Angel. Probably because Mikhael was using a persona and Angel wasn’t. “Listen, we don’t wanna punch a kid.”
However, this just caused Angel to do a pose, ready for battle, “You won’t lay a finger on me! C’mon, let’s sick ‘em, Charlie!”
Well, Orochi Sunny figures if Kel or Basil won’t be willing to get the info out of Angel, then he just will. He cracked his knuckles, stepping in between the lightning flower boy and the orange earthy boy. “Come on out, my flames.” Orochi Sunny’s palms were then coated in purple flames, ready for action.
Angel, unphased by the flames, rushed up and tried to attack Orochi Sunny with a punch. In retaliation, Orochi Sunny dodged out of the way, and proceeded to pull out a singular violet flame upon his finger. Before Angel could anticipate, Orochi Sunny swipes forward, causing a massive purple fire to speed outwards like a fireball onto Angel, knocking him down. Luckily, he didn’t look too burnt, but certainly worse for wear as he laid on the ground, groaning. “I-I…I clearly underestimated you…and your flames…you must teach me your ways, strange black haired boy.”
“No. I am not teaching you anything.” Orochi Sunny walked over and stood in front of Angel, “Now, do you know where Aubrey is or not?” Orochi Sunny already knew the answer to where Aubrey was, but he didn’t wanna look weird. “She’s uh…somewhere in Faraway, probably.”
Sunny rolled his eyes as he put a flame close to Angel’s head, “Just tell us.”
Angel gulped, almost like a cartoon character, “S-She’s uhhh…I uh…”
“Church.”
All of them looked at Charlie, who spoke out loud in a soft voice, “Aubrey…church.”
…
Well that’s better than expected. “Thanks.” Orochi Sunny said, equally as soft as the gentle giant of a girl. He put out his flames, leading his team away from Angel and Charlie, who both looked very confused as to what just happened.
The walk to the church wasn’t all that tense, mostly because of the confidence boost. However, Orochi Sunny did know a fight was gonna break down, though he didn’t tell the others about that yet. Hopefully it won’t be too bad for Aubrey.
As they neared the church doors, Orochi Basil nervously scooted forward, “M-Maybe in this kind of environment Aubrey can listen to me. W-Wishful thinking…” He said that last part under his breath. Poor guy.
As Orochi Kel pushed open the church doors, the sight of the inside was…a lot different than expected. The church was wrecked to hell and back, with pews and tapestries all around the floor, some broken, and others completely destroyed. It’s like if a tornado went through here. In the center of it all was Aubrey, with her back turned to the three newcomers. She looked like she was huffing and grunting like a wild animal, her back slouched and her hair wild.
Ok, so, this isn’t good. Seems like the whole Orochi energy spike was affecting Aubrey too, and in the least favorable way possible. “A-Aubrey?” Orochi Kel nervously walked forward, but stopped when Aubrey, under the effects of the Riot of the Blood, turned around, snarling at the boy. She did a guttural roar, her hands almost looking like claws with how her fingers were curved. “Uh, Sunny, is this related to that evil god too?” Orochi Kel asked his black haired compadre, looking quite scared.
“Uh…yeah. I think so.” The two look at each other before glancing at Basil. You know, since Sunny fought last time…
“Alright Basil, you’re up.” Orochi Sunny spoke calmly, pushing the nervous flower boy forward. “M-Me?! You want me to try and calm down a feral Aubrey?!”
“Relax, you have electricity powers. You got this, just make sure to be plus on block.”
“P-Plus on wha—AGH!” Orochi Aubrey swiped at Orochi Basil, causing to recoil back. He successfully dodged out of the way, but couldn’t quite think of a way to do a counter hit, so he simply just slapped her in the face. This didn’t really put him in an advantage, but at least he got the first hit in.
In retaliation, Orochi Aubrey grappled onto him, and swung him around, tossing him to the side. The electrifying flower boy yelped as he was in a rather disastrous position. Orochi Aubrey ran up, ready to demolish this boy in combat, however, with a split second reaction, Orochi Basil caused some lightning to strike down onto himself, zapping Aubrey in the process. Now with an advantage, Orochi Basil kicked upwards, landing a foot onto the manic girl’s jaw. Surprising how hard he kicked her, must be some kind of pent up anger.
“S-Stop it Aubrey!” Orochi Basil cried out, his brow furrowed as he dished out a drop kick onto Orochi Aubrey’s chest, knocking the wind out of the raving girl. However, his leg got grabbed after it connected to her, causing him to be grappled again. He was flung around before being tossed back at Sunny and Kel, causing them to catch the now very winded boy. Well, it seems like he was down for the count.
“Ugh…F-Fuck that hurts…”
“Woah Basil you can swear?” Orochi Kel blurted out loud, causing the purple haired boy and his black haired compadre to look at him with a mix of confusion and a sense of ‘of course he can’. Just because of that, the two silently agreed that he would be up next to fight her.
“Alright!” Orochi Kel said whilst stretching, “Time to pull out all the stops!”
…
He didn’t even get a single hit in before being demolished by Orochi Aubrey’s sheer power.
Orochi Basil looked up at Orochi Sunny with sheer horror in his eyes, “L-Listen Sunny, everything is going to be ok! Let’s just grab Kel and g-go!”
But Orochi Sunny was too scared to move. Of course this dream had to turn into a nightmare.
In that instance of sheer fear, Orochi Aubrey dashed up to him and grabbed ahold of his neck, giving it a tight squeeze. “AH!! AUBREY STOP!” Basil cried out, unable to do anything as his friend started to get choked.
A burst of energy surrounds Orochi Aubrey as she strangles the life force out of her friend, her sheer strength putting him through the ringer.
He was going to…
To…
Wake up.
Sunny snapped his eyes open to his alarm going off. He promptly turned it off and rolled out of bed, his pajamas slung low to the ground. He promptly got dressed and headed downstairs. “Oh Sunny, good morning!” His mom said happily, already bringing out a plate of eggs and waffles out to him, “You were sleeping in a bit today so I figured I could fix you something nice before you woke up.”
The breakfast smelled heavenly. His mom knew how to cook a good meal.
“So, any dreams last night? I heard that you wanted a journal for quite some time now, right? For your dreams? Hero called me the other day saying that he accidentally bought an extra notebook for college, and he was wondering if you wanted it.” Sunny’s mom said with a smile. A dream diary would be nice, at least Sunny thought. Sometimes he would talk about Headspace to his friends, but never really delve too deep into it. He did tell Basil about Omori, but, again, didn’t delve into the topic too much. Maybe if he got a dream diary he could share it someday with his friends and give more details on what Headspace is.
He simply nodded in response, making his mom happy. He took a bite off his waffle, which was nice and fluffy, and watched his mom continue to clean. “I…I had a dream last night about my friends.” Sunny said, kind of as an offhand response to her previous question.
“Oh really?” She turned around, “What were you guys doing?”
Sunny thought for a moment before answering, “Fighting using the power of an evil god.”
…
Sunny’s mom hummed, “Oh that’s interesting.”
It definitely was.
