Chapter Text
EP 10 description-
The room was lit, but dimly. A flickering overhead lamp hung dangerously low. Porchay was tied to a chair, wrist bound tightly behind his back. A bruised face, cut on his lips, heavy breaths, while his eye dart nervously as he watched his captors pacing around him.
“Let’s see how long that lasts.” Said one of the thugs who pulled out a knife, running it lightly across Chay’s cheek, not enough to cut but enough to make him flinch.
Chay glared straight into the guy’s eyes, “Do whatever you want. I’m not telling you anything!”
“Cute. But let’s see how much loyalty you have when your screams are the only thing keeping you company,” another one of those thugs says and starts laughing which is soon joined by the others.
Chay clenched his jaw, trying to suppress his fear. His heart was racing, his body tense, but he refused to show weakness. He was stronger than what those people who hurt him though.
A distant gunshot echoed.
The laughter died, instantly. Their heads snapped toward the entrance. Another gunshot—one of the men collapsed, blood pooling beneath him.
“Shit! We’re under attack!”
A slender figure came in view, one arm stretched out, holding gun with unwavering confidence.
The perfectly parted dark black mullet hair set as flawless as ever. The dewy milk white skin. Those almond eyes…..
…Kim.
He was holding a silenced gun, his stance firm, his eyes cold and unreadable. He scanned the room before his gaze locked onto Chay. For a moment, neither of them moved—just stared.
Chay’s chest tightened. The weight of their past lingered in every pause, every glance. A whirlwind of emotions hit him at once—relief, fear, anger, heartbreak. The last time he saw Kim… it had been different. Kim had broken his fantasy, his belief, his vulnerable heart.
Said those words that still haunted him.
"I don’t love you. I never did."
Yet here it was Kim standing before him. Holding a gun, looking as dangerous and untouchable as ever. He came for him. He was here to save him.
Why? Didn’t he say he didn’t care what ever happened to him? The person saving him was the one who hurt him the most. Ironic wasn’t it?
Chay’s fingers curled into fists behind his back. His throat felt dry. He wanted to say something, anything, but his voice was caught between the storm inside him.
Before they could react, another shot ringed out—so dangerously close, it was almost as if Chay could hear it’s ring beside his ear, so close that he could feel the rush of wind against his face. The emotional weight was too much and his body went numb.
The remaining thug had scrambled for his gun, but it was too late now. A single, calculated shot pierces through the rookie thug’s chest, sending him crashing onto the floor.
In the next moment, everything went black—Chay fainted.
This is comfortable….soft….warm….
Chay’s eyelids fluttered as he stirred from the deep slumber. He felt warmth around him, a soft surface beneath his back instead of the cold, hard floor he last remembered. A distant voice of people chattering. The comfort of where ever he was lying was undeniably unfamiliar.
He slowly let his eyes open. His vision was blurry, but he saw an unfamiliar ceiling above him, and the world just felt-
Off.
He suddenly jolted up, nothing looked familiar—not even the air smelt the same. He blinked rapidly, his heartbeat quickening as his mind struggled to process the surrounding.
"Where... am I?"
“Chay? Are you up my lill baby?” ……the voice…..why did it feel so heard but unheard at the same time?
The room was far larger than his entire drawing room back home. A desk cluttered with music sheets, a guitar on the bed beside him. A bookshelf lined with music books and vinyl records, alongside various music gear—a guitar stand holding both electric and acoustic guitars, an amp and pedalboard, a microphone and recording setup, and even a digital piano. Drumsticks lay scattered across the floor, despite the fact that there were no drums.
Suddenly out of nowhere an Alexa started speaking, “Chay. Get ready. You’ve got your last midterm today. Best of luck.”
“What- I’ve got what today?” Chay asked in horror. If anything, the next worst thing to being rejected by Kim was failing a test.
“You’ve got your music elective exam today. I hope you do well,” replies Alexa in a motivating voice.
“Porchay!! Get down right now or else Porsche won’t wait to drop you off,” the same voice from earlier spoke up.
Chay hurried for some unknown reason, even though he was confused as already, but as long as Porsche was there nothing bad would happen to him. He just knew.
As he climbed off the cozy bed, his eyes finally land on the 4th wall, the one behind him – a whole wall filled with Kim’s pictures, miniature dolls, posters, cutouts. What in the world-
This was getting even crazier.
He made his way out of the enormous room that seemed to belong to him, only to realise that his whole home had changed. The flooring, the walls, the roof, there was a whole staircase inside this house.
He slowly and cautiously made his way down, ready to fight or flight at the slightest signs of danger. But suddenly someone grabbed him by the collar from his back and pulled him up like a child, “Were are you trying to run you little boi?”
“Mom?!”, Chay who had almost no memory of his mom other than a few pictures, felt his inside making a somersault with happiness.
“If I’m not mom am I dad? Don’t you try to turn the question. Where’s your school bag why aren’t you still ready?”
Chay felt blessed. Even if he was dead and in heaven. It’s true that heaven is the most beautiful place.
“Take this, here’s your bag and breakfast have it in the car. Don’t go to the exam hall with an empty stomach,” Chay’s mom passed him his bag and a brown paper envelope, “Scurry now or else your brother said he’s gonna leave you behind. Go go shu.”
Chay pulled his mom into a longing hug. Who knew how long this dream or trip to heaven or what ever it is might be, last.
“Are you nervous my baby boy?” his mom asked.
“No…I’m just happy to see you after so long.” Chay replied, his voice breaking up as tears start to build up in his eyes.
“Aww my silly boy mom’s gonna be here for as long as you need a hug but right now don’t be late go on. Su su na!!”
After undergoing another episode of complete confusion and surprise at school, which not so surprisingly had turned out to be an internation privet school, Chay plops down at a desk in the common room section with his ‘so-called’ friends about whom he has no idea, after the exam. Melting into a cute ready to cry or sleep mess.
He mentally goes through all the points he had jot down till then:
- This isn’t the REALL world
- This is a reaalll world for the people here
- So basically from point one and three the most possible outcome is that this is an alternate universe
- My life in this universe ran differently than in my world
- If I say my world is the original one and this is the alternate universe, then I’m OG Chay in AU Chay’s body
- Here Porsche isn’t a bodyguard to a mafia gang leader but rather…….wait what does he do then?
- Mom is still alive here, and there’s a high probability of dad being too, plus they might be still together inferring from the way she was talking about dad today morning
- Our family in this universe is rich af
- AU Chay is a rich kid going to a high town privet school
- Me in every world loves music and is a pretty big fan of WIK the thai artist….kim..
- And maybe for the best this Chay has never met his idol
- NO ONE other than me has travelled here with me (not even Porsche)
- The friends here are AU Chay’s and they have NOOO CLUE what happened with him ‘n me switching or whatever might have happened here
- These guys (AU Chay’s friends) are rich af too
- The whole friend group is close
- ………if anything this feels too good to not be a dream but it definitely isn’t one
- Even if it is………I don’t want to wake up
“Earth to Chay!”
“Yeh. Right. Sorry. What?” Chay pulled himself up with efforts more than needed, after all, this was too much to accept in a mere hour timespan.
“We were discussing who’s bringing what snacks,” repeated Sofie, one of AU Chay’s friends.
“Snacks for what?” Chay asked confused.
“DUUUDEEEE ya’r actin’ weird now….” Tyson gave Chay an Instagram-able bombastic side eye, “This is about our Thailand trip??? 3 days from now????? And you were the one that practically begged for the destination to be Thailand???????”
“What?-” Chay looked around in disbelief, at all the eyes pointed at him, “I did what?! Begged for the destination to be Thailand….???”
“Mannn…..you’re not ditching us at the last moments are ya?”, everyone’s shoulders dropped in an unified disappointment.
“Uh…ummm….are the tickets booked already?” Chay asked hoping for one last resort to a reason for not going….cause damn….he finally didn’t have to face Kim but what if they met there in Thailand? That’d be too much of a self-brought-on disaster.
And it’s no point lying to himself- he still wasn’t ready to face the man he loved too much, only to get his heart broken. Yes it was his fault. He shouldn’t have ever read into his actions. They never meant anything.
“Well yeh all the tickets, booking and everything is already done so you better not ditch especially when Thailand was as a whole your choice,” another quite handsome, tall, lean, milk white, pretty, round faced, dark haired, big eyed, guy walked towards their group and plopped down beside Chay.
“What was your name again?” Chay asked.
“What…are you still mad I told you to put a pause on your flirting till the tour?”
“Nah man he’s been weird since today morning, I feel like something might be wrong with his head,” replied Sofie looking so done with Chay.
“Well ok…” the cute guy turned towards Chay, “Hi, I’m Dylan, I go to the same high school as you, you’ve been hitting on me for the past 2 months i.e. precisely since I joined this school, and I told you to put it off and aside till the Thailand trip you’ve practically been dying for.”
Chay could feel his cheeks heating up…hitting on this cute guy? So the AU Chay wasn’t totally a gonner for Kim…good to know.
But also—what kind of twisted romcom timeline had he dropped into? Alternate universe? Parallel reality? Heaven with homework?
No matter what it was, Chay knew one thing: he was living in a version of his life where he wasn’t heartbroken, wasn’t a hostage, and definitely wasn’t someone Kim had thrown away like a broken song lyric.
So then why did he feel so…unsettled?
Dylan gave him a playful nudge on the arm. “You’re looking at me like I grew a second head.”
“No, I—” Chay scrambled for a reason. “Sorry. I think I just…slept weird.”
“Right. Well, make sure you get enough rest before the trip. I’m not dragging your jet-lagged butt through Thailand.”
