Work Text:
Tommy heard the click of the front door locking and smiled as he roused from his sleep. He had already started his 72 off for the month the evening before, and now Evan was home to start his. The next 65 or so hours were all theirs. Evan appeared in the bedroom doorway, peering in to try to see if Tommy was asleep.
“I'm awake,” he mumbled, sitting up to turn on the lamp. “Come here, babe.”
“I didn't mean to wake you,” Evan replied, walking over to Tommy and leaning down to kiss the top of his head.
“It's OK. I just dozed off. I wanted to see you.”
“Well, why don't you stay here, looking all cute and cozy, while I go shower? I won't be long.”
Tommy snuggled himself back into bed, watching Evan toss his clothes into the basket. He chuckled when Evan wiggled his ass back at Tommy before closing the bathroom door. Tommy soon drifted back off to the sound of water running.
------------
Evan emerged, warm and relaxed, to Tommy once again asleep. He stole a moment to just look and appreciate this gorgeous, wonderful man. One arm was back behind his head, and his left hand lay on his bare chest. Tommy had apparently spent the first few hours of their time off giving himself a manicure.
Shiny new patches of navy blue with a fine silver sparkle were nestled in his chest hair. It wasn't Evan's thing, but he sure as hell loved the look on Tommy, and he knew Tommy felt confident and creative whenever he painted his nails.
Evan slid into bed and shuffled Tommy into his big spoon embrace. The fingers of his own left hand slotted between Tommy's and Evan pressed a kiss to his boyfriend's shoulder. He looked down to see Tommy’s starry sky nails next to his own blank slates, and wondered for the millionth time how much longer he could stand the wait before he pulled out the little black box in his desk drawer and asked Tommy a very important question.
The right time would come, and he would know, he felt it not far away. For now, this was perfect. But soon enough, there would be some new sparkle on Tommy's finger. Evan wondered what color Tommy would pick out to complement it.
