Work Text:
Dear Viktor,
I know you’ll likely never read this, but sometimes it’s nice to write these notes to organize my thoughts.
I always wonder what you’re doing at that desk all day, working so long and hard you pass out right there. It’s worrying, but I know all my attempts to pry you away haven’t worked. Mr. Talis tries too, he seems to be more successful at it. It’s good to know he cares, maybe even more than I do.
I’ve been studying these flowers, they’re this beautiful yellow color, and they purify air as part of their photosynthesizing process. While just one wouldn’t clear it, imagine if we planted a whole field of them down in the Undercity! Wouldn’t that be amazing? I certainly think so.
I spend a lot of time people-watching, just out of curiosity, I guess. People are fascinating, watching the way they behave just on a day-to-day basis, even from afar, it’s very telling of what they’re like. Sometimes I’ll have people come up to me while sitting in the park, make small talk and such. Whenever that happens I always think about it when I go home, and sometimes I imagine it was you I talked with. I like talking to you, I just kind of wish you’d cast me more than a sideways glance. You’re phenomenal, Viktor. I just hope that one day I’ll go down in history as something more than “the assistant who fell in love with you”.
God, imagine if I gave you this and you read that… or worse, I said it in person? You probably wouldn’t even feel the same.
Either way, I’d go all my life telling myself the lie that I did a brave thing.
Sincerely,
Sky Young
