Chapter 1: Memory of the past (1)

Chapter Text

..⭐ February 1997 , Seoul ⭐...

After years away , Hwang Hyunjin returned to Korea, stepping off the plane with a suitcase and a heart stitched with memories.

She was born in Seoul but raised in Canada, raised by her aunt who tried to fill the void of her heart by being like a mother Hyune never knew , lost to the cruel hands of fate during childbirth.

Her father , man with wealth vast enough to move mountains , tried to fill that endless void with diamonds, designer dresses and vacations on faraway lands .

But Hyune always wanted something simpler : love .

Her dad , Mr. Hwang tried his best to be present in his daughter's life , but he was a busy man too . He couldn't always do what his heart wanted , so he relied on his sister when she wanted to take Hyunjin away with her so she can feel the warmth of a mother. And Hyunjin was happy. She was happy to have Mr. Hwang as her dad , aunt Yeonie and her family as relatives who always treated her like the most precious thing .

But Hyunjin came back . She missed her dad , and seems like her dad missed her too , judging from how his eyes got filled with tears whenever he talked to her on phone , how he always managed to go and meet her every now and then even after having a tight schedule.
🌸..........🌸..............🌸................🌸................🌸

Now back on familiar soil , she entered Celestia High School, Seoul's most prestigious academy - a place where ambitions burned brighter than the city lights .

And the day when she first walked through the towering school gates , it was as if the world itself paused to stare .

She was too beautiful.
Not the way that could be captured by a camera , but in a way movie stars seemed unreal when glimpsed in passing - a dream walking among the living. Her dark hair tumbled over her shoulders like silk , her eyes deep enough to drown in , her every step quiet command that turns head without effort.

The air inside Classroom 2-A buzzed with a nervous kind of excitement. Whispers slipped between rows of polished desks, students craning their necks toward the door as footsteps echoed closer. They have always loved when a new student joined - new student meant new friend.

And then — she appeared.

The teacher cleared her throat, almost as if she, too, needed a second to gather herself before speaking.

"Class," she said, gesturing warmly, "this is Hwang Hyunjin. She’s just returned from Canada. Please make her feel welcome."

All eyes were on her.
Hyunjin bowed gracefully, her long lashes sweeping down like delicate feathers.

"Hello," she said softly, her voice no louder than a summer breeze. "I’m Hwang Hyunjin. I look forward to learning with you all."

There was no arrogance, no trace of the spoiled heiress her last name could have suggested.
Only softness, only warmth.

It was almost disarming.

Students exchanged glances, already feeling the gravitational pull she seemed to create without even trying.

The teacher smiled and scanned the room. "Seungmin, raise your hand."

From the back, a boy lazily lifted his hand.
Lee Seungmin — star athlete, loved by teachers , feared by rival schools and cursed by his own classmates for having perfect grades despite being a sport fanatic --- looked up, blinking at the new girl as if someone had just thrown glitter in his face.

"You’ll be her seatmate," the teacher said.

Seungmin nodded, motioning toward the empty seat beside him.
Hyunjin made her way there, her steps light, her presence somehow even lighter.

As she sat down, offering Seungmin a shy, grateful smile.
Classmates were glancing sideways at Hyunjin, who was busy unpacking her pastel-colored stationery with delicate fingers, her cheeks dusted with the faintest pink.

🌸........🌸..........🌸...........🌸...........🌸

Days blurred into weeks, and before anyone realized it, Hyunjin and Seungmin had fallen into an easy, natural rhythm.
Between shared lunches, whispered jokes during boring lectures, and the countless times Seungmin had to fend off overly eager boys trying to "borrow a pencil," a bond quietly blossomed — steady and sure.

It wasn’t long before Seungmin stopped seeing Hyunjin as the dazzling beauty the whole school whispered about, and more as a little sister (although they were the same age ) he hadn’t realized he needed.
Someone to look after.
Someone whose laughter he would now subconsciously search for in every crowded hallway.

At first, the rumors around campus were loud.
People whispered:
"They must be dating."
"Did you see Seungmin holding her backpack yesterday?"
"They're too close!"

But anyone who truly watched them could tell: there was no romantic tension, no secret longing.
Only the fierce, protective love of a boy who had decided — silently, stubbornly — that this girl was family now.

And Hyunjin — sweet, smiling, unbelievably polite Hyunjin — made it impossible not to adore her.

It was almost laughable how quickly she became the school’s Campus Goddess.

Her beauty wasn't just skin deep.
She was the type of girl who lent her umbrella without a second thought, who remembered tiny details about people, who never raised her voice even when she had every reason to.
Students from all years would find excuses just to catch a glimpse of her walking through the courtyard — her hair catching the sunlight.
Some said she looked like she had stepped out of a movie.
Others said she was proof that angels walked among mortals.

But Hyunjin, oblivious to the whirlwind she had created, just clung to Seungmin’s side like a safe harbor — the only place that didn’t treat her like a spectacle.

And Seungmin, ever the reluctant hero, swatted away the admirers like flies.
"Back off," he’d grumble whenever someone got too close.
"She’s too good for you," he’d mutter under his breath.

🌸...........🌸............🌸.............🌸..............🌸

It happened on a rainy Friday afternoon, when the clouds hung low and the world felt heavy and slow.

"Come over," Seungmin said, tugging Hyunjin’s sleeve as they stood by the school gates. "You always study alone. Just do it at my place today."

Hyunjin hesitated, clutching her books tightly to her chest.
In truth, she wasn’t used to homes filled with laughter.
Her father loved her dearly, yes — but their mansion had always been too big, too silent, too polished to ever feel like a real home.

Still, when Seungmin gave her one of his rare, stubborn scowls, she caved.

Seungmin’s house was nothing like she expected.

It was cozy.
Warm lights spilled from the windows, the smell of something delicious floated in the air, and as soon as Hyunjin stepped inside, she was engulfed in a hug by a laughing man with freckles and dyed blonde hair.

"You must be Hyunjin!" the man said — Lee Felix, Seungmin’s dad, with an accent that Hyunjin couldn’t place but found oddly comforting.
And right behind him was Lee Jeonginnie — Seungmin’s mom — smiling and waving her inside, a hand resting gently on Felix’s arm.

It hit her then, so suddenly and sharply that she almost gasped —
this was what a family looked like.

Messy. Loud. Overflowing with love.

She blinked rapidly, trying to hide the sudden sting in her eyes.

"Come on, they’re embarrassing," Seungmin grumbled, dragging her toward his study room.

🌸..............🌸..............🌸.............🌸

After hours of studying (which mostly consisted of Seungmin sighing at Hyunjin’s endless doodles in the margins of her notes) and a dinner so good it made Hyunjin seriously question if she could ever go back to restaurant food again, she found herself leaning back against the couch, full and strangely... peaceful.

Hyunjin glanced up at the ceiling.
Somewhere above them was the rooftop — Seungmin had mentioned it once before, in passing.

A little garden, built and cared for by his dadbecause his mom loved gardens . It sounded like something out of a fairytale.
She tugged at Seungmin’s sleeve, her voice soft.
"Can you show me the rooftop?"

Seungmin opened one eye and gave her a Look.
"It’s dark. And cold."

She pouted slightly — not on purpose, but the effect was devastating anyway.
Seungmin groaned dramatically, pushing himself up.
"Fine. Come on, drama queen."

They tiptoed past the kitchen (Felix caught them anyway and laughed, they were like twins), and made their way to the staircase going to the rooftop.

That's when it happened. Hyunjin bumped into someone - papers went flying, a laptop bag slid across the floor, and with a dramatic oomph, Hyunjin found herself sitting squarely on the chest of a boy who looked just as shocked as she felt.

"I'm — I'm so sorry!" she gasped, scrambling to her knees.

The boy blinked up at her, wide-eyed, disheveled, wearing an oversized hoodie and round glasses that slipped down his nose.

And good God — Hyunjin was done for .

The boy pushed himself up on his elbows, rubbing the back of his head. "No, it’s... it's okay. Uh, hi?"

Hyunjin flushed scarlet.

Seungmin groaned from behind them, throwing up his hands. "For the love of — Hyunjin, meet my older brother, Lee Jisung. Jisung, meet my best friend, Hyunjin."
Jisung blinked, then grinned — a grin so warm it almost knocked the breath out of her again.

"Guess crashing into each other is one way to meet," he said lightly, extending a hand. Hyunjin hesitated for a split second, heart hammering, then slipped her hand into his.

It fit.
Too perfectly.

Something electric fizzled between them — soft, but undeniable.

And somewhere behind them, Seungmin muttered under his breath, "Great. I'm doomed."

🌸.............🌸.............🌸................🌸...............🌸

Long before she stumbled into him — literally — on that rainy afternoon, Hyunjin had heard of Han Jisung.

In whispered conversations during lunch breaks.
In the admiring tones of teachers when they thought students weren’t listening.

Another genius of the Lee family.

But if Seungmin was the loud, bright comet that streaked across the school’s football fields and classrooms, Jisung was something quieter.
Something deeper.

Seungmin shined in the obvious ways — top of his class, captain of the team, the golden boy with the easy laugh.
He loved people.
He loved movement.
He loved the world enough to throw himself into it without fear.

Jisung, on the other hand, lived in a different universe altogether.

He was brilliant, yes — terrifyingly so. His grades were impeccable, his mind sharp enough to slice through the thickest of textbooks — but his true love lay elsewhere.

Music.

While Seungmin ran laps around the schoolyard, Jisung holed himself up in tiny rooms with cheap keyboards and scratched-up laptops, building whole worlds out of melodies and beats.
He wasn’t the type to chase the spotlight.
He was the type to create it — piece by painstaking piece — and then gift it to others without expecting anything in return. Hyunjin had heard about him the way people talk about distant stars.
Admiringly.
Curiously.
Always a little out of reach.
She never imagined he would be the boy who would grin at her with sleepy eyes and a crumpled hoodie.

🌸................🌸..................🌸.................🌸............🌸

From that day on, Hyunjin started studying at Seungmin’s house more often. At first, it was just supposed to be a once-in-a-while thing — a safe, quiet place where she could focus without the heavy silence of her own home weighing on her chest.
But somehow, it became a habit.
A ritual.

Every Friday, after school, she would show up at the Lee household with her books tucked neatly under one arm and a shy smile on her face.

And somehow — purely by coincidence, of course — Han Jisung was always there, too.
Sometimes pretending to fix something on his laptop.
Sometimes lying upside-down on the couch with his headphones tangled around his neck.
Sometimes pretending to study, but mostly just sneaking glances at Hyunjin when he thought no one was looking.

(He was very bad at being subtle. Felix and Jeongin exchanged knowing smiles behind their coffee mugs every time.)

Hyunjin’s father, too — despite his endless business meetings and glittering high-society events — was genuinely relieved.
His daughter, who had spent so much of her life alone, now had friends who treated her like family. The Lee family welcomed Hyunjin not like a guest, but like someone who had always been meant to be there.
Felix would ruffle her hair. Jeonginnie acted like she found the daughter she always wanted - but never had . Seungmin would grumble and toss a pillow at her head when she teased him too much — but always, always with a soft smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

It was, Hyunjin realized one afternoon while laughing until her sides hurt, the kind of love her heart had been starved for.

🌸.................🌸.................🌸...............🌸

At school, things started to shift, too.

At first, their paths crossed only because of Seungmin — passing each other in the hallways, trading awkward nods during lunch, sharing polite greetings when she waited by his locker.

But little by little, it changed.

Hyunjin started helping organize the school festival decorations, and Jisung — somehow — ended up on the same committee.

She stayed late one evening to rehearse a presentation, and Jisung — totally by chance — was in the next room setting up sound equipment.

And soon, it wasn’t just coincidence anymore.

It was Jisung popping up in the library with a "Hey, need help with that math problem?"
It was Hyunjin saving a seat for him during club meetings without even realizing.
It was Jisung offering her a water bottle during sports day and nearly dropping it when she smiled at him too brightly.
It was Hyunjin absentmindedly handing him her favorite pens because "he always forgets his."

It was a thousand tiny moments.
Each one so innocent that neither of them could pinpoint when exactly it started feeling different.
When exactly the world tilted and something softer, sweeter, slipped between them.

Everyone else, however, noticed almost immediately.

It began with whispers.
Then snickers.
Then outright declarations.

The students — young, wild-hearted, and endlessly nosy — decided that if Lee Han Jisung and Hwang Hyunjin weren’t dating yet, they simply had to make it happen.

Someone — rumor says it was a group of second-year girls — even started a Han-Hyunjin Support Club.
They printed stickers.
They made little pins that said "Protect Our Campus Royalty" with tiny doodles of Jisung and Hyunjin.
They even made a slogan: "Han-Hyunjin: A Love Written in the Stars."

It was ridiculous.
It was adorable.
It was unstoppable.

Every time Jisung so much as handed Hyunjin a pencil, the club would erupt into cheers.
Every time Hyunjin brushed a stray hair from Jisung’s forehead during study sessions, there would be audible gasps from across the cafeteria.
And standing in the middle of all this chaos was Seungmin, scrunching his nose like he was personally offended by romance itself.

Every single time. "My brother and my best friend who is almost my twin ? Ewwwwwwww"

---
Like the time Hyunjin tripped during lunch break and Jisung caught her effortlessly — one arm around her waist, the other holding her tray.

Cue deafening cheers from every table nearby.
Cue Hyunjin blushing so furiously she nearly set herself on fire.
Cue Jisung trying to act cool but missing his next three steps and walking straight into a pillar.

Cue Seungmin, dramatically gagging into his juice box .

---
Or the time Hyunjin stayed late after drama club practice, and Jisung — having finished his own club meeting — waited just outside the door with an umbrella.
Silent. Patient. Like it was the most natural thing in the world.

When she spotted him, her eyes lit up in a way that made every passing senior and junior exchange knowing looks.

Seungmin, trailing a few steps behind, clutched his chest like he’d been mortally wounded.

"I’m begging you guys," he said loudly. "Just kiss already so I can have my best friend and my brother back without needing a puke bag."

---

But of course, Hyunjin and Jisung didn’t realize it yet.

They were too busy being themselves — shy and silly and utterly clueless. Too busy feeling that strange flutter in their chests and brushing it off as "just friendship" or "just coincidence."
Too busy building something real, one small moment at a time, without even noticing.

And somewhere between the laughter, the late-night study sessions, the umbrella waits, and the music drifting through rooftop gardens —

they were falling in love.

Everyone knew it.

Everyone... except for them.

🌸................🌸...................🌸...................🌸............🌸

It happened slowly — like the way a flower unfurls under the sun, not all at once, but so gradually you don't even realize it's happening until it’s too beautiful to ignore.

For Hyunjin, it was the little things.

Like the way her heart picked up speed whenever Jisung ruffled his hair in frustration while studying. Or the way her stomach did tiny, embarrassing flips whenever he leaned in too close to explain something on her laptop screen.

She found herself laughing harder at his jokes. Smiling wider when he entered a room. Feeling inexplicably brighter just from knowing he was somewhere nearby.

She told herself it was normal.
They were friends. Close friends.
That’s what friends did — right?

(But deep down, a tiny voice whispered: Friends don’t make your hands shake just by smiling at you like that.)

For Jisung, realization hit differently.

It hit him one day when Hyunjin showed up at his door, arms full of books and cheeks pink from the cold.
She stomped her boots clean on the mat.

and Jisung forgot how to breathe.

He stood there like an idiot, one sock half-pulled onto his foot, just staring at her. Because somewhere between the study sessions and the late-night rooftop talks, between the laughter and the teasing and the thousand tiny smiles she gave him —

she had become the center of his whole universe.

And Jisung, for all his genius in music and math, was utterly clueless when it came to love.

---

The Han-Hyunjin Support Club, however, was thriving.

By now, they had a literal countdown plastered on the classroom wall:
“Days Since Han-Hyunjin Realized They’re In Love: [0]”

Every time Hyunjin shared her lunch with Jisung, or Jisung saved her a seat during assemblies, someone would run over and gleefully reset the number to zero.

Seungmin, watching all of this unfold with the dead-eyed exhaustion of a long-suffering little brother, could barely stand it.

Every glance exchanged between Hyunjin and Jisung earned a gag. Every "accidental" hand brush made him scrunch his face in horror. Every shy, giggling moment was punctuated by him dramatically pretending to faint against the nearest locker.

One afternoon, after witnessing Jisung offering Hyunjin his last piece of tteokbokki (a true act of love if there ever was one), Seungmin stood up, threw his arms to the heavens, and declared:

"I can't do this anymore! JUST DATE ALREADY!"

(And promptly got detention for shouting in the cafeteria.)

🎶.............🎶...............🎶...................🎶

Jisung’s POV:

I wasn’t supposed to be home that day.

Normally, Fridays were studio nights — me, my laptop, half-finished beats, and an energy drink that tasted like regret. Me , busy everyday with academic pressure had very less time to chase after my hobby . So Fridays laziness wasn't for me . I usually go to my studio (by studio I mean my grandparent's house , where they spared me a room to practice my hobby ) after waking up from a nap . That day however, I overslept.
When I woke up and saw the clock , it was already afternoon. I quickly took my computer bag and bolted .

I was halfway down the stairs when I crashed into someone .

Long black hair falling down her back. A soft beige sweater drowning her frame . Eyes so bright they could blind if you look for too long .

My heart did something weird

Like - skipped a beat , spun in place , tripped over itself and then face- planted dramatically , all at once .

I forgot to breath.
Literally.
I felt like an NPC , blinking at her like I never saw a human before .
Seungmin noticed first, of course. He made a face as if he swallowed a lemon whole .
"That's my older brother", he said . "Ignore him . He's broken."
She smiled again , trying not to be rude .

"This is Hyunjin. She's my friend. She's normal" , Seungmin said .

I swear, she glowed .

Operation: Confess to Hyunjin

It all started when Jisung finally — finally — realized that maybe, just maybe, he was a little bit (okay, hopelessly) in love with Hyunjin.

Step 1 : Realization

The Han-Hyunjin Support Club (which by now had official badges, an Instagram page, and a secret handshake) sprang into action the moment the news leaked.

Class 2-A’s group chat exploded with ideas:
"Confess with flowers!"
"No, with a song!"
"No, on one knee under a cherry blossom tree!"
"Write her a love letter written in code and make her solve it!"

Seungmin, being the only sane person around, stomped into Jisung’s room and threw a notebook at his face.

"Just be normal," he snapped. "And please don’t make it weird."

"Define ‘normal,’" Jisung mumbled, flipping through the notebook while doodling hearts absentmindedly on the margins.
Seungmin gagged at the hearts. "Ican't believe I'm helping my brother in asking my best friend out . What has my life come to."
....

Meanwhile, Hyunjin remained oblivious to all the chaos surrounding her. All she knew was that lately, Jisung had been acting... different.

Softer.
Nervous around her.
Lingering when he said goodbye.
Sending her random texts like, "Have you eaten?" and "Don’t forget your umbrella it looks like rain."

And the little things —
The way he always remembered her favorite songs.
The way he always saved the last seat next to him.
The way his whole face lit up when she laughed.
Hyunjin found herself smiling at her phone more than she’d ever admit.

A few days Earlier: (More Cute Moments)

Library study session:
Jisung and Hyunjin were sitting across from each other at a corner table, textbooks sprawled out.
At some point, Jisung looked up to find her asleep, head pillowed on her arms, hair falling into her face.
Without thinking, he reached out and gently tucked the strand behind her ear.
She stirred slightly but didn’t wake up.
Jisung smiled, heart aching in the softest, most helpless way.

He went back to studying, a little more determined to ace his next exam — just so he could sit next to her again.

Rainy day moment:
It had started raining while they were walking home.
Hyunjin gasped as the drizzle turned heavy, and before she could even think, Jisung yanked off his hoodie and dropped it over her head.
She peeked out, laughing, wearing the giant hoodie like a tent.

"You’ll catch a cold!" she scolded.

"You’ll catch a cold," he mimicked back, grinning stupidly as his hair got soaked. Hyunjin just shook her head, cheeks pink, and tightened the hoodie around herself like a shield — but inside, her heart was beating way too fast.

Music Room moment:
Jisung dragged her into the old music room one evening to show her a beat he was working on.
When he played it, the room filled with soft melodies, a little clumsy, a little shy — and entirely perfect.

"I wrote it... thinking about someone," he said, scratching the back of his neck.

Hyunjin tilted her head, curious. "Someone?"

He smiled crookedly, looking everywhere but at her. "Yeah... someone really beautiful."

She didn’t ask who.
She didn’t have to.
Her heart answered for her.

---
Step 2: Preparation:

Everyone met in the gym club room with a whiteboard that said "CONFESSING TO HYUNJIN: MASTER PLAN" .
The brainstorming went like this -

📍 Fanclub president: write her a 20 page love letter
📍 Seungmin : no ! He can't even write a 5 page essay without crying.
📍 fanclub treasurer: Serenade her on the school PA system.
📍 Seungmin : You want him EXPELLED?
📍 random member : put a performance during school cultural night and-
📍 Seungmin : Get out.

Finally, Seungmin spoke up .
"Simple. Sunset. Rooftop. Flowers. Confess. No weird costumes."

Everyone blinked .
It was ... Genius.

Step 3 : training Jisung

For the next week , the fanclub and Seungmin trained jisung like he was going into battle.

•practice confession ( Jisung was doubting himself)
• walking practice ( "Hyung , stop walking like a newborn giraffe" groaned Seungmin.)
• Flower selection ( they selected daisies because Hyunjin once told Seungmin she loved them)
• outfit choosing (clean hoodie , jeans . Casual but nice . No graphic tees that said "pizza is my valentine" )

Step 4 : Setting the stage

On D-day , while Jisung nervously paced in the Lee family's kitchen, the fanclub members snuck up to school rooftop .
They strung fairy lights along the fence , they arranged the flowers nicely.
Seungmin supervised the whole operation with the solemn authority of a wedding planner . He even bribed the janitor with coffee and snacks to borrow the rooftop for that evening.
(" If anyone asked ," he warned, "I wasn't here".)

Step 5 : The final step

After doing everything , the club members and Seungmin vanished . They urgently called Hyunjin and told her to meet Jisung on rooftop.

🌸🎶...............🌸🎶..................🌸🎶................🌸🎶

Rooftop Hearts

When Hyunjin opened the rooftop door, she blinked in surprise.

The last time she was up here, it was just plain roof with some flower pots and empty railings.
Now, there were faint fairy lights strung along the fence, a few flower petals scattered by the breeze, and the warm blush of sunset painting the world golden.

And there was Jisung.

He was fidgeting like crazy, adjusting his hoodie sleeves, fixing his hair even though there was no mirror.
When he heard the door creak, he froze. His head snapped toward her like a deer caught in headlights.

"H-Hyunjin," he stammered, voice cracking slightly.

She laughed softly, stepping closer, her heart hammering against her ribs.
"Jisung... What's this ? I heard.... You called for me?"

He looked like he might combust on the spot.
"Uh— y-yeah. Maybe. Kind of."

They stood there for a second, neither knowing what to say, the sunset glowing quietly around them. Finally, Jisung cleared his throat and shuffled forward.
He opened a small box with shaking fingers.
Inside was a delicate silver bracelet, thin and simple — lined with tiny little music note charms along the chain.

Hyunjin gasped, eyes wide.

"I know it’s not super fancy or anything," Jisung mumbled, cheeks burning bright red, "but, um... it’s like... you know, music’s a big part of me. And you’re... well... you’re kind of my favorite song."

Hyunjin blinked. Once. Twice.
Her face turned the same shade as the sunset sky.

"I-I mean—!" Jisung backpedaled, flailing a little. "I just — I like you. A lot. And I was wondering if maybe you’d wanna, um, you know—"
He waved the bracelet hopelessly. "Be my girlfriend?"

Silence.
The kind of silence where you can hear your own heartbeat in your ears.

Hyunjin’s hands flew up to her cheeks.
She looked so flustered and overwhelmed and happy that Jisung’s brain completely short-circuited. For a terrifying moment, he thought she was going to faint.

Then she squeaked out, "YES!!"
Way too loud.

And immediately slapped both hands over her mouth, mortified.

Jisung stared at her.
Then burst out laughing, the nervousness cracking into pure sunshine.

"Can I...?" he asked, holding up the bracelet.

Hyunjin, still bright red, nodded furiously and thrust her wrist toward him like she was offering him her entire soul.
With fumbling hands, he clasped it around her wrist.
The tiny music notes gleamed under the fairy lights.
When he finished, neither of them moved.
They just stood there, grinning like idiots, hearts threatening to beat right out of their chests.

From behind the rooftop door, a few soft giggles and a very loud "JUST KISS ALREADY!" could be heard.

Hyunjin gasped, covering her mouth in horror.

Jisung groaned, dragging his hands through his hair.
"Seungmin," he muttered, knowing exactly who had orchestrated the whole mess.

But when Hyunjin laughed — a bright, sparkling laugh that made everything around her seem more alive — Jisung decided he didn’t really care.

He reached out, shy but sure, and linked his pinky with hers.

"Guess we’re stuck with each other now, huh?" he teased, his voice soft.

Hyunjin squeezed his pinky back. "I wouldn’t want it any other way."

And under the soft lights, the music of their laughter, and a sky blooming with stars, they began their brand new chapter — together.

🧢...........🧢................🧢.................🧢

The Overwhelming Celebration

As Hyunjin and Jisung stood there on the rooftop, the fairy lights twinkling around them, they still couldn’t stop smiling. Neither of them had moved an inch since the confession, their hands still holding onto each other’s.

And then—

"AHHHH!!"

From behind the door to the rooftop, a loud, high-pitched scream shattered the peaceful moment.

"THEY’RE OFFICIAL!!" a voice screamed. "THEY’RE OFFICIAL, YOU GUYS!!!"

Before either of them could react, a small army of students poured through the door, led by none other than Seungmin — his face red, his expression a mixture of frustration and triumph.

"SEUNGMIN!!" Jisung shouted, his face lighting up like a tomato. "What the—"

"OH MY GOD!!" The Fanclub President jumped up, nearly knocking over the potted plants, rushing to Hyunjin and pulling her into a hug. "Congratulations!! We KNEW it would happen!!!"

"Get off me!" Hyunjin laughed, flailing as her arms got trapped in a group hug.

Seungmin stood in the middle, scowling, trying desperately to hide the fact that he was beaming from ear to ear. He crossed his arms and tried his best to look disappointed.

"Okay, okay," he grumbled, looking at Jisung and Hyunjin with a barely concealed smirk. "This was so predictable. But seriously, you two—ugh. The PDA—"

"SEUNGMIN!!" Jisung groaned, his hands over his face, too mortified to look at anyone.

But Seungmin just ignored him.
Instead, he waved his arms dramatically and gestured to the Fanclub members who had been waiting for this moment all week.

A huge banner that read "Congratulations Han-Hyunnie!!" was revealed from behind the stairwell.
There were balloons. Streamers.

"You’re seriously... celebrating?" Jisung asked, still laughing nervously, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Of course we’re celebrating!" The club president gasped, nearly falling over from excitement. "You guys are adorable!!"

Hyunjin, still holding Jisung's hand, couldn’t stop laughing.
This was all way more than she expected.
"You planned this?" she asked, barely able to speak through her giggles.

Seungmin, now thoroughly fed up, shot a quick glare at his best friend.
"I had nothing to do with this," he muttered. "But they dragged me into it."

"Sorry, Seungmin," one of the club members piped up, "but you know how much we love these two!" She pointed at Hyunjin and Jisung, who were both blushing furiously now, completely overwhelmed by the sudden attention.

"Yeah, yeah..." Seungmin waved them off with a sigh, shaking his head. "But seriously, I’m too young to be dealing with this level of chaos. I need a nap."

Jisung shot him a playful glare, his embarrassment turning into laughter.
"You’re the one who planned half of this, remember?" he teased. "You were practically the mastermind."

"Whatever," Seungmin said, throwing his hands up in the air. "I’m going back to my room to eat chips and pretend I didn’t just see this."

"HEY!" The Fanclub President pouted, chasing after him. "We’re celebrating, Seungmin! Get in the spirit!"

But despite the teasing and chaotic celebration, there was a soft moment between Jisung and Hyunjin amidst the madness.
They were standing close, hand in hand, with Hyunjin's new bracelet catching the last rays of the sun. They were still in shock at the whirlwind of events that had just happened — the confession, the craziness, the pure happiness radiating between them.

"Well, at least they’re happy for us," Jisung said, trying to calm his racing heart.

Hyunjin nodded, a shy smile on her face as she turned to him.
"Yeah," she said quietly, her fingers still curled around his. "I never expected this."

Jisung chuckled softly, his thumb brushing over her wrist where the bracelet lay.
"Well, now we have a lot of people to keep happy," he teased. "And a whole lot of celebrating to do."

Hyunjin laughed, leaning her head against his shoulder, feeling like the world had suddenly slowed down — despite the ruckus around them.
"This is crazy," she murmured. "But in the best way possible."

"I wouldn’t have it any other way," Jisung said softly, tightening his hold on her hand.

And as the fanclub continued to fuss and Seungmin muttered his way to the edge of the rooftop, Jisung and Hyunjin stood in the middle of it all, knowing that they had each other — and that was more than enough to make everything feel just right.

Seungmin had always been the responsible little brother — the protective one, the "cool" guy everyone liked. So when Jisung started dating his best friend, his reaction was an eye-roll followed by a dramatic gag.

"I don’t need to see this," Seungmin complained, crossing his arms. "You two are going to make me sick with all your cute little moments."

Hyunjin and Jisung exchanged a knowing look, smiling softly. They knew Seungmin was just trying to act like he was unaffected, but deep down, he was happy for them.

“Come on, Seungmin,” Hyunjin laughed, nudging him playfully during lunch one day. “You’re not fooling anyone. You’re happy for us.”

Seungmin groaned but nodded reluctantly. “Yeah, yeah, fine. You guys make a good couple. But please, spare me the giggly moments. I’m still your younger brother! And she’s my best friend!"

"But we’re cute together, aren’t we?" Hyunjin teased, leaning into Jisung with a mischievous smile.

Seungmin dramatically turned away and muttered under his breath, “I need therapy.”

But despite his dramatic protests, he always found ways to sneak little compliments to them. Whether it was in the form of a teasing remark like, “Don’t make me gag, you two,” or subtly defending their relationship when anyone dared to poke fun at them, Seungmin proved to be the supportive younger brother in his own unique, grumpy way.

Epilogue: A Shy Date and a Father’s Understanding Smile

Jisung and Hyunjin’s first official date was nothing short of awkward yet endearing. The evening was simple, a cozy dinner at a nearby café, just the two of them — but the whole time, both of them were a flustered mess. Jisung couldn't help but nervously play with his napkin, while Hyunjin fidgeted with the corner of her jacket, avoiding eye contact more than she’d like to admit. Every time their hands brushed, they both froze, blushing furiously.

“I... I really like this restaurant,” Hyunjin said, trying to break the silence as they awkwardly sipped their drinks.

Jisung grinned, his eyes softening. “Yeah, it’s nice... but I think the company makes it even better.” He reached out, brushing his thumb over her hand in a sweet, fleeting touch, both of them immediately looking away, red-faced.

The rest of the night was full of shy smiles, stolen glances, and gentle laughter — the kind of date where they both knew they liked each other deeply but were still navigating the delicate steps of being more than just friends.

When they arrived back at Hyunjin’s house, the two of them were still blushing, both too shy to speak much as they stood by the front door.

But just as they were about to part ways, Hyunjin’s dad appeared in the hallway. He had a knowing smile, his eyes soft as he looked between the two of them. “I see you two had a nice time,” he said, his tone calm and full of warmth.

Hyunjin and Jisung froze, both turning to face him, their faces bright red.

Her dad chuckled gently, clearly seeing the shyness and awkwardness between them. “No need to be so shy. It’s nice to see you happy, Hyunjin. Jisung, take care of her, okay?” His smile was understanding, as if he knew exactly what they were both feeling.

Jisung nodded eagerly, his voice a little shakier than he’d like. “I will, Mr. Hwang. I promise.”

Hyunjin’s dad gave a small nod, his eyes twinkling with affection for both of them before he stepped back.

As he left them standing there, Jisung and Hyunjin stood in the silence for a moment. Hyunjin gave him a shy smile, her heart fluttering. “Well... that was unexpected.”
Jisung laughed softly, his hand brushing through his hair. “I don’t think I’ll ever get used to how understanding your dad is. He always seemed like a angry person from far. ”

Hyunjin nodded, her heart full. “Yeah, he’s the best.”

With that, Jisung leaned in a little closer, his voice dropping to a soft whisper. “Good night, Hyunnie.”

“Good night, Jisung,” she replied, her smile sweet and shy.

As they finally parted ways, both of them couldn’t help but feel that this was just the beginning of something beautiful
