Chapter Text
“Dadd….Uff…dad…” “JUDGE” cried out, covering her entire face with her dirty palms. She was having flashbacks again. After all, it wasn’t easy losing such a close loved one. The blue haired sobbed loudly in the middle of the battlefield, horribly to the point where one of her teammates had to pull her out and bring her back to her room. By gently grabbing her hand and making “JUDGE” rest on her shoulder as they walked, “BRIDE” helped her in any way she could even if she didn’t have that much physical power.
Their world was dystopian, nothing wrong with a little bit of fantasy, but this was way too much for young humans to handle. Lab experiments, monsters, vampires, werewolves eventually took over humanity. “JUDGE” had recently joined a rebellious human organisation in which the members use code names to refer to their teammates during the battle. It’s much easier, it keeps their identity protected as they wear masks that cover noticeable parts of their face. Their goal is to take down whoever invented these monsters, and bring back humanity. That makes everything sound easy, but is it really? Almost everyone’s too scared to attack, after all, not everyone can become a soldier.
A few months before this whole lab organisation properly began, “JUDGE” had lost her father in an unknown way. Nobody knows, she won’t talk about it either. All they know is that he must’ve ended up dying in front of her somehow if she is this traumatised. Judging by their family photos, he must’ve been her only parent. Everybody could tell, he was a good father to her.
Not only had she lost her father, but her boyfriend as well. He died trying to protect her and she desperately seeked help, running and crying in the empty rainy city alleys with her boyfriend’s disgusting dried blood all over her clothes. It was then, she was scouted as an agent for this organisation. Unfortunately, her beloved had already passed which forced her into a horrible mental state. Not wanting to eat for multiple days, rotting in her own bed and muttering to herself “Just kill me already…” multiple times throughout the day.
Grief haunted her, yet she still made progress somehow with the help of her coworkers. “BRIDE” especially was very good at comforting people. Not with her words, but with her songs. There was this motherly aura about her, yet she was still very mysterious. “JUDGE” would hear her singing in the room next to her, it was beautiful, a gentle lullaby with a breathy voice. “BRIDE” would always practice singing, it was her job to distract the monsters somehow. She didn’t have to worry about getting hurt since the ghost of her “GROOM” was always watching her, exactly like a bodyguard.
The moment everyone had noticed “JUDGE” made progress, they threw her onto the battlefield, without a care. She was offered two guns and one grenade as a weapon, but...once she saw the gun, It felt like something just snapped, which caused her eyes to water, and she just…screamed. Without a care, without a clue why she reacted this way, “JUDGE” cried out for her father, falling on her knees as she pressed her palms on the floor.
“Dad!!... Dad….!” Her shaky voice echoed, she covered her face with her dirty palms, still on her knees. Trying to wipe her tears, her coworkers surrounded her, worried about who was going to take her. Then suddenly, the veiled, purple haired “BRIDE” volunteered. Helping “JUDGE” get up and walk back to their homes.
“Euugh…” “JUDGE” cried out, her tears were uncontrollable at this point, it was wet and uncomfortable in her mask. “BRIDE” ended up having to carry her on her back just to go home. When they had finally arrived, “BRIDE” hadn’t said a word, she just carried “JUDGE” back into her room and made her lay on her bed, asking if she could take off her mask to which surprisingly, “JUDGE” nodded. And so she did. “JUDGE”’s eyes were a very pretty blue color, even prettier when they were glowing. But right now, they were glowing in the wrong way. “BRIDE” took off her veil and her long dress, so she just ended up having some shorts on. She thought her glittery dress would be uncomfortable to lay on, which is why she did it. Then, slowly scooting herself onto “JUDGE”’s bed, she lifted her head up gently with her hands, placing them on her lap.
Then, she began to sing. There it was, the beautiful, gentle lullaby sang with a breathy voice. “BRIDE”’s voice was like that of an angel, but “JUDGE” never dared to say this out loud. It was simply too embarrassing. But even so, “JUDGE” was still crying, breathing heavily and shaking. And “BRIDE” noticed, all she simply did was try to touch her. “JUDGE” flinched, yet the feeling of fingers running through her hair relaxed her. “JUDGE” then heard a voice, a very familiar one.

“Dad….”
“DAD!...”
“.....”
“...Dad…” She reached out her hand, tearing up from all the exhaustion.
“Kiddo, run ahead.” He gestured, but she didn’t pay attention.
Yelling loudly as she can, even clenching her fist “DAD! I’M SORRY!” echoed.
“JUDGE”’s eyes opened wide, she then realised he was disappearing. In an attempt to “save” him, she got up and ran towards him, yelling “Fuck…FUCK!... DAD!!” and reaching her hand out once again. Only to realise, he couldn’t be saved.
“Do you hear that lullaby too?” He asked her, smiling.”
“...I-I do..” She stared down at her hands as she rubbed her thumb against her index finger. Not knowing what to do, she started crying again.
“It sounds like your mother’s singing.”
“It does…? Then the one singing…?” Danica looked behind her, but suddenly. Everything started turning black. Then gradually shifted into reality.”
“...Mom?...”
Danica was then met with the face of “BRIDE” smiling. As if she was glad that she was experiencing this. In reality, it was the first time someone had ended up falling asleep to her singing. It was a pleasing experience.
“Not mom…” “BRIDE” proceeded to smile at her, staring at her and then eventually leaving the room to give “JUDGE” some space. And going out to join her coworkers to pass the time.

“That “JUDGE” girl… She gets on my nerves. Thinking she can guilt trip all of us here, including my sister. My father was a rapist, and my mother was a conniving woman who left her kids out here to fucking die. Just because you lost your fucking boyfriend doesn’t mean that you can make work complicated! God. She really makes me angry. Yet again, I’m quite glad she lost her father. In this organisation, there have only been people that went through agonizing pain, that whore really thinks she can fucking come here and trick us all into comforting her just because she misses her dead father? Hah, bullshit. Hope you’ll rot in the next universe, you manipulative bitch.”
