Chapter Text
The Battle at the Endgame
Chitauri missiles were firing off, piercing the air, striking the ground with loud, earthshaking blasts.
The smell of burning flesh, blood, and gunpowder pervaded the air. There were hundreds of warriors yelling their battlecries. There were hundreds more taking their last breath.
T’Challa is carrying the gauntlet, but is hit by Thanos’ blade and the gauntlet falls from his grasp.
Ebony Maw makes an attempt to get the gauntlet, telekinetically shifting the debris, moving the gauntlet.
thwip
Peter webs the gauntlet into his arms.
Swarms of Chitauri warriors surround Peter.
“Activate instant kill!” Peter shouts.
The wide eyes of the Iron Spider suit glowed red and sharp spider legs extended out of the suit, spearing through the droves of Chitauri.
Peters senses are dialed to thousand and all he can think to do is run and get the gauntlet as far as possible
Thanos can’t win Peter, not again.
Peter feels the air begin to vibrate, and hears the sound of something charging, something big.
Zzzzzzzzt
Thanos’ ship launched strike upon strike. Peter narrowly dodged the blasts, they were so close to him that there was a ringing in his ears. The ringing turned to a deafening silence, blood trickled down the sides of his face. His ear drums must have ruptured. It's a shock they hadn’t sooner.
Danger! Watch out!
Peter became disoriented in his run and his body didn't catch up to his spidey sense as a piece of shrapnel slashed across his back
“God dammit” Peter groaned and tripped over fallen Chitauri.
Get up Parker. This is on you. Move.
Peter forced his straining muscles to move and continued his run.
He scanned the battlefield, there were too many enemies. They weren’t going to win, not like this. He spotted Tony and Cap getting knocked around by Thanos. Golden sparks were flying, Doctor Strange was trying to hold back the raging water coming towards the battlefield. He caught sight of Mr. Barton getting a spear through the shoulder.
It was overwhelming.
They were not going to win.
Peter came to a decision, he held the gauntlet, he could finish this in one second and everyone would be saved. He couldn’t run around any longer waiting for somebody else to step up to the plate. This was on him.
Peter slipped the gauntlet onto his hand and the red nanites shifted to fit him.
It was as though the world went silent. To Peter it was, he couldn’t hear anything after his eardrums had ruptured. He could feel his heart beating, the blood rushing through his body. He could see turned heads. That large, purple bastard, clenching his oversized jaw.
Watching. Worried.
He could see Tony’s blip moving towards him on the screen in his mask.
“Your intended action is not recommended Peter.” Karen typed across his screen.
Peter let his nanite mask recede before anyone else could try to change his mind.
Peter saw red and gold rocketing towards him. But Peter had made up his mind.
The stones hummed and began to glow, energy surged up Peter’s arm.
Peter screamed
Panicked thoughts repeated themselves in his head
Keep your thoughts clear Parker! You’ve got one shot.
I don’t wanna die I don’t wanna die I don’t wanna die I don’t wanna die I don’t wanna die I don’t wanna die
Dust Thanos and his army
Save everyone
These were the thoughts that ran through him as he smashed his fingers together.
Peter was lucky to have inhuman strength, otherwise he might have not been able to push his fingers together.
“I’m sorry.” Peter said aloud.
Snap
And then there was pain, searing, blinding pain.
Peter tried to scream but he had no voice. It was as though every nerve in his body was being stabbed with a hot poker. It was reminiscent of his first death on Titan, but different in the fact that it didn’t feel as resolute.
And then, it was gone.
