Work Text:
“Sieun-ah..” Suho’s grandmother cried out.
He tightened his grip on the phone, and slowly closed his eyes as he let out a shaky breath.
“He’s awake, Sieun. Suho’s awake.”
Sieun almost sighed in relief. “How—how is he?”
“He’s.. fine. The doctors said he’ll just need a lot of physical therapy for his body to recover. But he’s awake, that’s what matters.” There was a clear hint of sadness in her tone. Sieun could even hear her trying to hold back sobs as she spoke.
“Suho’s refusing to talk to anyone. He keeps on asking for you, Sieun-ah.”
What?
Suho is asking for him?
“..And Suho, he—“
”He can’t seem to remember anyone, or anything. Except you.”
Sieun went quiet, he was utterly speechless. A part of him felt bad, mostly for Suho’s grandmother. God—he can’t imagine how she must be feeling right now. But a part of him also felt quite.. relieved that Suho did not forget about him. He swallowed the lump in his throat. Was it selfish for him to feel that way?
“..I’ll be there, thank you for calling me.” Was all he could think to say, he eventually hung up the phone after exchanging goodbyes. And without a second thought, he rushed to grab his wallet, heading to a convenience store near the apartment building, grabbing and buying whatever he thought Suho would like.

The bus ride to Suho’s hospital felt awfully longer than it should have. He checked the time on his phone after getting off the bus and saw that it was already past 11 PM. With a bag full of food in one hand, he hurried past the hospital’s entrance, nodding at the nurse who greeted him as he wrote on the visitor logbook.
Sieun stood in front of Suho’s room. He hesitated for a moment, taking a deep breath before slowly opening the door.
Suho was sitting up, looking out the window with his eyes half-lidded. And— oh, he was wearing Sieun’s jacket. The gray jacket he used to wear a lot back then, the same one he folded neatly and placed on a small table near the bed, incase Suho woke up and felt cold.
He cleared his throat, just loud enough for Suho to hear. “Suho-ya, I’m sorry I’m late.”
Suho finally noticed Sieun’s presence, his pale lips curved into a gentle smile. “Took you long enough.” He chuckled.
“Well, are you just gonna stand there?”
Sieun shook his head, blinking his tears away as he walked towards him. “I missed you.” He didn’t wait for a response. He pulled Suho into his arms, enveloping him in a tight hug. Despite being caught off guard by Sieun’s actions, Suho leaned into his warmth and hugged back just as tightly.
Sieun pulled away, but still kept his arms around Suho. “Are you okay?”
“I am, now that you’re here with me.” Suho smiled.
“i asked everyone to leave when I found out you were coming, if you’re wondering why the room’s empty” He mumbled.
Sieun frowned. “That wasn’t really necessary, I don’t mind—“
Suho was quick to change the topic. “Are these for me?” He asked, referring to the bag full of food.
Sieun nodded, giving him a sweet, sheepish smile. “I didn’t know what you wanted, so I just bought a bit of everything.”
“Ah, well that explains the.. five, six, seven—seven different flavors of ice cream.”
He laughs. “I’m kidding. Thank you, Sieun-ah. I appreciate it.”
Suho picked a random flavor and tore it open, taking a huge bite. Strawberry, a classic. “Mmh, this tastes so much better than whatever they fed me earlier.”
“Okay, so,”
“Tell me, how have you been? They told me I was asleep for like, a year and something?”
“A year, nine months, and fourteen days.” Sieun corrected.
“Wow, you’ve been keeping track.”
He shrugged. “I guess so.”
“The students at Eunjang were unbearable at first, but they’re not as bad now.” Sieun said.
“..And I also made a few friends.” He continued. “Park Humin, Seo Juntae, and Go Hyuntak. One of them reminds me of you, actually.”
“My Sieun-ah has friends? Yah, you’re really all grown up now.” Suho teased, pinching his cheek.
It was his turn to ask now. “How about you?”
“What about me?”
“Did you really lose your memories?”
“Yeah—but not entirely, I guess. They’re just.. blurry?” Suho shrugged.
“I can remember you clearly, though. Maybe we really were married in our past life.”
Sieun hummed, and then smiled. “Maybe we were.”
