LuLu! I'm leaving now!' Shawn yelled from the living room.
'wait, let me say goodbye!' Lucy yelled back.
She ran into the living room where Shawn was standing.
'Now promise me you won't cheat on me?' Shawn asked.
'Of course not!' Lucy said and rolled her eyes.
'Tell me you won't and you'll keep me updated and ask for permission to go out with friends?'
Shawn said coldly and grabbed Lucy's chin aggressively.
'Ow! Babe that Hurts!' Lucy Protested and grabbed his wrist.
'Sorry babe, you know I get angry.' He said sorrowfully.
'its okay.' Lucy said and rubbed the red marks he left.
'Keep me updated on what job you get, okay Lulu?'
'of course.' She said again, this time she smiled.
'Bye Lulu' He said and walked out the front door.

She was scrolling for jobs on her phone, When she found the perfect one, it may have been expensive, but she knew this was for her.
She was pushing her Car up a hill because it decided to break down on her.
She heard a man's voice from beside her, she looked over to the pavement and saw a Jakey looking man.
'How about I take that off your hands for you?' He said and revealed a gun stuffed I to his Joggers.
Lucy giggled.
'your going to steal my car? The one that broke down 2 blocks ago?'
'yea, and I might take you for a spin too' He said.
She walked into the police station after six months of training in the academy, with her first arrest, before her shift had even started.
She sat next to her 2 new friends, John Nolan and Jackson West in roll call
She would text Shawn often, but he never really got back to her.
She was so excited to tell him about her job when he got back home.
Sargent grey walked in, he leaned against the podium.
'As you can tell, we have 3 new rookies, so it's time to play Rookie and TO match.'
That got a few sarcastic cheers from the crowd.
'Ok Our legacy Jackson West who broke all his dads records at the Academy with Angela Lopez.'
Jackson looked behind him to Angela, who nodded in return.
'Our hotshot Lucy Chen who arrested her first criminal before shift even started with Tim Bradford.'
She looked behind her And smiled to she TO, he didn't smile in return and she turned back around.
'And John Nolan, who was born before Disco died with Talia Bishop' Grey said and grinned.
that got Laughs from the crowd.
'Right, get out there and be safe!' Grey said and walked away.
She got all the supplies they would need and put them in the Trunk of the shop.
After all the rookie's went through a vehicle lecture, they hit the road.
Lucy pulled her phone out while Tim was driving, it was Shawn.
'what are you up to lulu?'
'working'
'what job?'
'its a surprise.'
'Okay lulu.'
'Officer Chen put the phone away right now.' Bradford Yelled.
She jumped and shoved it in her pocket.
'Sorry sir.'
'You have to pay attention at all times in this job! Do you hear me!?'
'Yes Sir! Sorry sir, it won't happen again.'
'it better not.'
It was end of shift, she was so excited to go home because Shawn would be back.
She got dropped off by Nolan and started getting the house cleaned for Shawn.
Later at night she heard keys jingling and ran up to the front door.
Shawn opened the door. And smiled when he saw her.
'Shaw!' She said and hugged him and kissed him.
'Lulu!' He said in return.
'so you want to know my mystery job?'
'yes I do.'
'Im a police officer!' She said, grinning.
The smile vanished off of Shawn's face and he became angry.
'What is it babe?' Lucy asked, concerned.
He curled up his fists, and his hands shook.
'Baby what's wrong?' Lucy put her hands on his chest.
He raised his fist and brought it hard across her face.
She fell over and hit the floor.
Tears swelled in her eyes, and she placed a shaky hand on her cheek.
Her lip was bleeding and her cheek would probably bruise.
Shawn walked away, not even helping her up.
She pushed herself up, and walked to the bathroom to inspect her cheek and lip.
She put ice on her cheek and walked Into the bedroom where Shawn was.
He looked up from his cell phone and his eyebrows knitted together, and he looked genuinely regretful.
'I'm so sorry Lulu, my anger got the better of me.'
She stood in the doorway still holding the ice-pack against her cheek, she chewed the inside of her cheek, the one that wasn't sore, and smiled faintly
'Come here Lulu.' He said and opened his arms, signaling for a hug.
She walked up and crawled into his embrace.
He held her tight, it felt comforting, she fell asleep on his chest and woke up in the same position.
She got up and went to the bathroom, her cheek was now a big purple bruise, she touched it and hissed. Her lip was still split and the blood had dried up, she found antiseptic Cream in the cupboard and it applied it.
She put foundation over the bruise, you could faintly see the bruise if you looked close enough but no-one would really pay attention to her.
On her way to the station she was thinking of a plausible excuse for her split lip in case anyone asked.
She arrived and put the uniform on.
She sat down for roll call, then hit the road with Tim.
'How did you split your lip ,officer Chen?' Tim asked while driving.
'Oh, I hit it on a mug.' She said, but didn't look him in the eye.
'A mug doesn't do that, I'm.not stupid, and I can see the bruise you tried to cover up.'
'my foundation just oxidized, it's not a bruise.'
'Just on that cheek?'
'i applied that's nd applied the rest 20 minutes later.'
'Right.'
She sighed, glad the conversation was over.
After shift she was getting ready to leave when Tim approached her.
'Lucy.'
'Yes Sir?'
'Did your boyfriend hit you?'
She got mad, but she also felt glad he knew, but she loved Shawn and she couldn't loose him.
'No! He would never! How could you accuse him of that!?' She yelled.
'I've seen it before, I'm a police officer, I know what domestic abuse looks like.' He said, a hint of sorrow in his voice.
'he doesn't hit me, Okay! He loves me.'
She got in her car and drove away, gripping the wheel so hard her knuckles turned white.
She got home and smiled when she saw Shawn.
'Hey baby' She said as she closed the door.
'Hey Lulu' Shawn responsed.
Lucy walked over to him and kissed him on the cheek.
'I need to go now.' He said, fixing his tie.
'Where are you going?' Lucy said, surprised and disappointed.
'Its a friend hang out, just to the restaurant downtown.' He said, checking his watch.
'Bye baby..' Lucy said as he walked out the door.
Her phone pinged and she saw a message from Nolan.
"you want to hang out with me and Jackson?' The text read.
'Sure' She replied.
She threw on a short floral dress and some make-up and drove to the location.
They had fun, had a few drinks, sang karaoke, and then she drove home.
She opened the front Door and saw Shawn.
He was holding a glass of half-drank whiskey and he looked distraught.
'Baby? W-Whats wrong?..' She stuttered, she touched his sweating face and noticed marks on his neck, Hickeys.
'Whats that on your neck?' She said, acting like she hadn't noticed.
'Its none of your fucking business.' he muttered.
She let go of his tie and walked towards the front door.
'where are you going.' He sneered.
'a walk.' She said.
'No your fucking not!' He spat.
'yes I am!' She shouted and opened the door.
He ran up and grabbed her arm harshly.
'Let go of me!' She yelled.
he tossed her back into the house before slamming the door shut, while she fought to get out his grip.
'I also looked up how much it costs to join the academy.'
'I'll pay for it!'
'No! That's it! I'm taking away your money privileges! If I can't trust you you won't get it.' He yelled.
'you can't do that! It's my money.'
'Not anymore!' He shouted.
'yes it is! I do what I want!' She shouted back.
He slapped her across the face and she screamed out.
'Shut the fuck up!' He bellowed.
Shawn grabbed her by her hair and dragged her into the bedroom.
She grabbed her wrists and hauled her up, he tossed her in the bathroom and slammed the door shut.
'Shawn! Let me out! Please!' She screamed and banged on the door.
The door whipped open, but Shawn came charging in and kicked her shin, he knelt down and put tape over her mouth.
She tried to rip it off but he grabbed her wrist.
'If you reach to pull that fucking tape off I'm going to break your fucking wrist.' He said through gritted teeth.
Tears were streaming down her face and she tried to get out of his grasp, she kicked and grabbed his wrist to get him off her.
He twisted her wrist and it made a sickening crack.
She let out a gutteral scream and snatched her wrist out of his grasp. She held it while tears fell out of her eyes.
He got up and slammed the door shut again.
She curled up into a ball in the corner of the room, holding her wrist, sobbing.
Shawn came back in after a few hours. She looked up and got as far back into the room as she could.
'No,no! Get away, I'm sorry!' She sobbed.
'lulu I'm sorry, you know how angry I get about money.' He said, sorrow in his voice.
She looked up slowly, her eyes were red and puffy from crying.
Loll p'let me take you to the hospital Lulu, tell them you fell in the shower, okay?'
She nodded and stood up, holding her wrist and Shawn's hand on her back.
They arrived and the doctors casted her wrist.
'How did this happened miss Chen?' The doctor asked.
'I fell in the shower, didn't put the shower mat down.'
'you sure?' the doctor asked, skeptical.
'yea?' She said, acting like the doctor was stupid.
'okay..you can go, the healing time will take six to eight weeks.'
Lucy walked over to Shawn, she nodded to the doctor.
'Thank you.' Lucy said and walked out.
'something is off with that girl, that type of broken wrist isn't possible from a fall, that has to be manual.' She said to she assistant.
'I saw bruises on her shin, and she had a split lip.' her assistant said
'We should notify the police.' the doctor said, grabbing the phone.
Lucy walked into the station the next day, she managed to get her uniform on with only one hand.
She got to roll call, and Nolan and Jackson were concerned.
'How did that happen?' Nolan Whispered
'fell in the shower, stupid I know' She laughed.
Nolan nodded and laughed with her.
Grey walked in and did the usual lecture and they hit the streets.
'how did you break your wrist.' Tim asked, he looked over to her.
'i fell in the shower.'
'So you're just really clumsy now?'
'Yea..'
He shook his head and continued driving.
After shift she got home, this time Shawn seemed happy.
'hey Shaw.' She said, closing the door
'hi lulu.' He said, usually cheery
'you're in a good mood.' she said, a smile spreading across her face
'I am.' he said, smiling
She smiled, 'that's great!'
'lulu I've been thinking, we should have kids.'
The smile faded from her face.
'But, we're not even married yet.' She spluttered.
'so?' He said
'I'm, not sure, I want to become a police officer and I should wait until my probation is over.'
'Oh, so your career means more than me now?'
'I'm not saying that! I just don't want a kid right now!'
He got up, she stepped backwards.
'Shaw, I'm sorry.'
He wrapped his hand around her throat in a swift motion and started strangling her.
'Shawn!' She tried to say, but she was loosing oxygen.
She kicked him and tried to pull his hand away, she was trying to gasp for air but to no avail.
He let go and walked into the bedroom, she fell to the floor and rubbed her throat and tears came streaming down when face again.
It became a routine, but Shawn started hitting her where it wasn't visible.
She became less happy and stopped hanging out with Nolan and Jackson.
Tim became even more skeptical as the months went on.
They were in the station, Lopez wanted help trying to unlock a computer Smitty had locked them out of.
'Can you hold this for me?' Angela asked Lucy and handed her her phone.
Lucy took her phone and held onto it tight.
Lopez put a pin in and the computer made a loud beep noise that scared Lucy and she dropped the phone.
'Ah! I'm so sorry!' Lucy yelped and bent down to pick it up.
'I'm really sorry! It just gave me a fright.' She said, agitated.
'wow it's okay, it's not even cracked.' Angela said, she took the phone and put It back in her bag.
'Lucy are you okay?' Tim asked, he put a hand on her shoulder but she flinched and jumped back.
'Sorry!' she said.
Tim and Angela looked at each other, concerned.
'Chen stay here, me and Lopez are going to talk privately.'
Tim and Angela walked away and into the break room.
'Something is seriously wrong with her." Angela stated.
'I think she's in an abusive relationship.' Tim said.
'i can tell, she's showing all the signs of domestic abuse.'
'I'm going to her house later, for a welfare check.' Tim said
'I'm coming too.'
'Okay.'
'Meet at the end of Shift.' Tim said, Angela nodded.

Tim knocked on Lucy's front door, Shawn answered.
'Hello, I'm Officer Bradford this is officer Lopez, we're here for a welfare check.'
'What welfare check?' Shawn asked, confused.
'We were just told to go here, now let us in please.' Angela said from behind Tim.
'Do you live with anyone else, Shawn?" Tim asked.
'Yea my girlfriend, she's at the shops right now.'
'okay.'
Tim questioned Shawn about a few things while Angela Checked the house.
'Nothing of concern, thank you for your time Mr Gigez' Angela nodded and her and Tim left.
'Anything?' Tim asked when they got into the car.
'Nothing, he must cover it up.'
Tim smacked the steering wheel.
'Damn it.' He muttered .

Lucy walked in holding the shopping, it was about 10 at night and the sun had set.
'Shaw, I'm home' She shouted.
'Good, now would you like to explain why the fucking police were here for a welfare check?'
'Baby..i-i don't know, I swear I didn't call them!' Lucy said, fear had already taken over
'How do I know that!' Shawn yelled.
He walked up to her and grabbed her wrists, restraining her, she struggled to try and get away from him.
'Stop fucking moving!' He Bellowed.
He dragged her against her will into the living room where she managed to get out his grasp.
He grabbed her again and threw her against the couch.
'Trying to get out?' he yelled.
'Let me go Shawn!' She screamed.
He slapped her across the face.
'Shut the fuck up or you'll wake the neighbours!' He shouted and pulled her hair, which made her scream.
'SHUT UP!' He howled and kicked her legs over and over again.
He slapped her again, crying she curled up in a ball.
He walked away and she made an effort to get up but her fell back over.
He grabbed a belt from their bedroom and started hitting her arms and legs with it, She tried to protect herself.
He threw it aside and yelled at her to stop screaming.
He walked yo the kitchen and she tried to get up but fell over, she tried to crawl to the front door but he caught her and dragged her back to the living room.
He had a knife in his hands.
'Shawn put the knife down, please!' She screamed.
He grabbed her wrist and slashed it, she yelled in agony and grabbed her wrist to stop it from bleeding.
She was crying and trying to kick him away.
She realised he stopped attacking her and looked up to see Tim, angela and a few other cops tackling him.
Tim looked over to her and jumped to hug her.
She was a bloody mess on the floor but when Tim picked her up and wrapped her in an embrace, she broke.
She was sobbing and she hugged him back.
'Its okay, I've got you.' he muttered.
She held him as close as she could, she finally felt safe after months of abuse.
He ran his hand through her hair while Officers cuffed Shawn.
He turned to Shawn, watching as officers hauled him up and dragged him out of the living room.
'Lucy, baby! I'm so sorry! You know how my anger makes me! Lulu!' he screamed, struggling with the cops and trying to get away.
Paramedics jumped in and took Lucy away to the hospital.
Tim walked up to the window beside Shawn and The driver rolled it down.
'Men like you disgust me.' He said. His lip curling.
'She'll forgive me, she'll run right back.' Shawn sneered.
'I'll make sure she doesn't.' Tim said and walked away.
He hopped into the ambulance beside Lucy and took her hand.
'Thank you.' She rasped.
'You're welcome.' He said.

Shawn was let out of prison, much to Tim and Lucy's displeasure.
In the time Shawn was gone Lucy admitted to Tim he was the only one she felt safe around, So they started secretly dating, turns out he liked her back.
Lucy had filed a restraining order against Shawn, so he could go near her.

'Finally I'm at the police station' He thought to himself.
He walked in through the doors and the front desk.
'Hey is there a Lucy Chen that works here?' Shawn said and leaned against the front desk.
'well there used to be, She's Lucy Bradford now.' the Woman behind the desk said
'She changed her name' Shawn raised an eyebrow.
'no she got married' The officer said and muttered 'dumbass' under her breath.
'well can you call her out?'
'Uhm, sure?' The officer said and pulled out a radio.
'Detective Bradford to the front desk you have a visitor.'
The officer muttered something else into the radio that Shawn couldn't hear.
Shawn grinned and waited for Lucy to walk through the doorway to him.
She appeared but not in the way he expected.
She was carrying a little baby and a toddler stood beside her.
'Shawn..?' She stuttered.
'Lulu.' He said and tried to approach her.
'Dont call me that.' She said, placing her hand protectively in front of the toddler,
She stepped back but bumped into someone, she looked behind her and it was Tim.
'What the fuck are you doing here.' Tim seethed and stepped just Infront for her
'Just visiting..' Shawn said, intimated.
Tim lifted the toddler up and handed she giggled.
'Whose kids are they?' Shawn asked.
'Mine.' Tim said, and smirked when he saw the look on Shawn's face.
Lucy giggled a bit when she saw how flabbergasted Shawn was that Her and Tim were married and had 2 kids.
'oh, so you moved on.'
'Of course I did, now excuse me, I have important business to attend to.' She didn't actually, she just wanted to take her kids, Tim and Angela into the break room and joke about Shawn.
Her and Tim turned around and walked to Angela to tell her what just happened, leaving a dumbfounded Shawn to process what happened.
