"Someone is very snuggly today."
Gwen Stacy never felt safer when she was in the arms of her boyfriend, Miles Morales. Of course, it was a hassle to travel to another dimension to visit Miles on Earth-1610B, but as she snuggled up against him, her head resting against his chest while listening to the steady beating of his heart, the scent of his cologne, and his lean, yet strong arm around her shoulders, made Gwen nuzzle into him all the deeper and come to the conclusion that the hassle to use her Spider-Braclet or Goober, to see her boyfriend was worth it.
"Mmmm, can't help it," Gwen sighed happily, pressing a tender kiss against his pulse. "You're my escape."
"Yeah?"
"Mmhmm."
Smiling, Miles raised his right hand, and Gwen placed her left hand flush against his as the couple slowly laced their fingers together before Miles brought their joined hands up to kiss her knuckles. "I'm glad I can be that for you," he murmured against her temple. "And I'm sorry you're still having issues with your dad."
"Ugh, please don't remind me," she groaned, pressing her face back into the crook of his neck and wishing she could forget the drama and painful misunderstandings she was having with her father back on Earth-65, which lately has felt like a backwater dimension than it does her actual home. "He thinks I killed Peter in cold blood. Me. He was my best friend! I would never hurt him." She groaned before sitting up and running a hand through her hair, before tying it into a ponytail. "After being taken in by the Spider-Society to tag along and join them, I felt like I belonged," then reached out to caress her boyfriend's face before giving him a soft smile. "But you truly understand me and make me feel like I can make a difference..." Miles sat up to face his girlfriend before wrapping his arms around her in an embrace that Gwen melted into with a dreamy sigh. "...thank you for being in my life." She murmured against his ear, holding him tighter, almost afraid to let him go, out of fear that he might disappear in front of her.
"I think I should be thanking you," Miles murmured back, caressing the undercut side of her head as he pulled back to look her in the eyes. "I've taken a lot for granted: where I'm at academically, my living conditions both at my dorm and at home, and my relationship with my parents. But you?" Leaning in to press his forehead against hers, Miles sighed softly. "I never want to take you for granted."
Smiling at his words, she closed the gap between them, capturing his lips in a sweet kiss, which Miles happily reciprocated. Wrapping her arms around his neck, Gwen pulled him flush to her until they fell back on his bed in a heap of tangled limbs and kisses that were growing in fervor and passion as each second passed.
"Same, mi amor," Gwen cooed. "Same."
The rest of their time together was spent listening to R&B, whispering words of love to each other, and preparing to head out to grab some pizza and wings before returning home for the night.
The couple knows they have people they can depend on and trust. But when it comes to being with each other, they're each other's escape from reality, and it feels amazing when they can step back from the hardships and circumstances of being superheroes and all of the baggage that goes along with it.
But in the end, it's worth it. Especially when they have each other.
