Chapter Text

The alarm clock blared, Kirishima groaned, hitting the snooze button. "Just five minutes more." After all, it couldn't hurt to get some extra sleep, right? Yes, yes it could. Suddenly, he jumped out of bed, remembering the early morning ritual he had started. These past few weeks had been rough on him. His best friend was stuck in bed at home with a nasty case of the flu, so for the past five days he had woken up extra early just to bring him coffee - black coffee, yuck - but just how Bakugo liked it.

Five days he had done this, and he intended to make it six. Was it definitely way too early - especially for someone who had a habit of sleeping in till lunch? Yes. Was he extremely tired? Also, yes. And, had he had an extremely long night studying (for once in his life)? Absolutely, but he was not going to let his best bro wake up to no coffee - even if he was sorta, well…broke - he would run to the coffee shop and pick up a black coffee with the tiniest bit of foam.

And so he got dressed at an unreasonable time for a Saturday, and walked to the coffee shop (which he would be starting a shift at tomorrow) and ordered coffee, then walked as fast as he could without spilling the hot coffee. Finally, he arrived at the Bakugo's family home. It was a small, cozy little house. Before he could even knock Mrs. Bakugo had already opened the door.

"Six a.m. on the dot. How often do you plan on arriving at the butt crack of dawn with coffee for my bratty son?" Kirishima replied softly and a little embarrassed. "Just until he feels better, or tells me to stop, whichever comes first". Mitsuki frowned trying to hide her approval. This was the first of her sons’ 'friends' she had genuinely liked (with the exception of Izuku Midoriya) so she let him in.

Despite the time, Kirishima was trying his best to seem full of life. "Oh! I almost forgot, I picked up a small coffee and a scone for you, Mrs. Bakugo!" Mitsuki tried to hide it but her smile crept through. Against her better judgment and best efforts, she accepted the small gift.

Before Kirishima could even reach the top of the stairs, Katsuki had met him halfway. "What are you doing up? You need to be resting!" Kirishima said in a quiet, yet concerned tone.

"Relax, I'm fine, I can handle-" Katsuki's sentence was cut off by an alarming amount of coughing. Before his mother could even show concern (not that she would or had in the past), Kirishima was already on it, rushing Katsuki to his room and laying a blanket on top of him and setting the coffee down on his nightstand.

"Take it easy, you need to rest. Your body is still recovering." His tone was soft and kind. He noticed a slight red appearing on Katsuki's face. Although it was probably simply blushing, Kirishima got concerned and looked for a thermometer.

"I'm fine, Shitty Hair, seriously." His completely clueless friend stood over him, worrying extremely. The oblivious boy was only further concerned when, despite trying to hide it in his pillow, Katsuki's red face became very noticeable. Eventually Katsuki convinced the redhead that he was, in fact, perfectly fine.

For a long while afterward - or at least that's how it seemed to Katsuki's mother - the two stayed up there and conversed whilst the ill boy drank his plain black coffee. Seriously though, gross. The two boys laughed, playing video games and watching cartoons all day until eventually it was time for bed. Mrs. Bakugo offered to let Kirishima stay the night, so he did. After all, he was deeply concerned for his friend's health.

Kirishima slept on the floor and tended to Katsuki when needed (against the blond's protest and various 'I'm fine' claims.) In the morning after making breakfast (and, of course, coffee,) Kirishima mysteriously had to leave. This was unlike him, which made Katsuki suspicious. He tried to get up but he started coughing, and Kirishima insisted Katsuki sit down.

Then off Kirishima went to his first day of being a barista. Should be easy, right? I mean there are stories of Karens and bratty kids, but they can't be that bad, right?
