Chapter 1: Gravity and Blood

Chapter Text

The night was quiet—too quiet for someone like Toga Himiko.

She crouched on the edge of a rooftop, chin resting on her knees, eyes glowing yellow in the moonlight. The city below pulsed with distant sirens and muted conversations. The League was scattered tonight, and she was alone. Or so she thought.

“I know you’re there,” came a voice. Calm, but guarded.

Toga didn’t flinch. She smiled.

“You’re getting better at sneaking up on me, Ochako~

Uraraka floated gently down beside her, her hero uniform dirt-streaked but intact. Her helmet was off, short hair tousled by the wind. There was a cut on her cheek—fresh.

“I’m not here to fight you,” Uraraka said, standing just a little too close. “Not tonight, at least.”

Toga tilted her head, pursing her lips thoughtfully. “Then what are you here for?”

Uraraka hesitated, eyes darting to the moon.To understand.”

That made Toga laugh—a strange, almost sad sound.

“You want to understand me?” she echoed, rising to her feet. “I’m the villain, remember? The one who stabbed your friend and smiled while doing it.”

“I remember,” Uraraka said, her voice tight. “But I also remember what you said. That you loved people. That you just... didn’t know how to love the right way.”

Toga’s grin wavered.

Uraraka stepped forward. “I’ve been thinking about it. About you. I hate what you’ve done, but I keep wondering—what would’ve happened if we’d met before all of this? Before the League, before U.A.”

Toga’s eyes shimmered. “You think you would’ve liked me?”

“I think I already do.”

Silence stretched between them, heavy with unsaid things. The kind of silence that trembled on the edge of a decision.

Toga stepped forward until they were nose to nose. “You’re not afraid of me?”

“I’m terrified,” Uraraka whispered. “But I’m more afraid of what it means if I walk away and never find out what’s real between us.”

Toga reached out, her fingers brushing Uraraka’s cheek—not with a knife, but with something fragile. Gentle.

“I always wanted to be loved like that,” she said.

And when Uraraka leaned in, resting her forehead against hers, neither of them pulled away.

For one stolen moment, the villain and the hero didn’t exist. Just two girls, broken in different ways, trying to find gravity in each other.
