Work Text:

Felicia let out a sound similar to a squawk when she felt someone land on her. Judging by the boney elbows it could only be— “Silco! Couldn't you land further that way?” She complained when the boy with soot colored hair scrambled over the garbage heap.

“Not my fault! He pushed me!” He defended himself as Vander landed onto the heap pile, nearly crushing the other boy who made a startled sound. “Well you weren't movin’ fast enough.” The larger responded with a shrug. “I move much faster than you.” Silco mumbled under his breath a scowl on his face.

“You two can argue later! We need to get out of here, if you don't remember we nearly got caught by enforcers.” Felicia sighed, patting the grime off her pants with slight annoyance. The two boys reluctantly stayed quiet before following her down the garbage heap, trying to be careful of anything sharp or could make them lose their footing.

“We probably would've gotten the job done faster if Benzo was here.” Vander sighed as they took a turn into one of the sewer systems tunnels. “Doubt it. Last time he was nearly tripping over his own feet when we had everything.” Silco responded back, he and Benzo bickered more than he and Vander, so he didn't have as much confidence in the others abilities.

“Yeah but he can carry more.” Vander pointed out defending his other friend with a huff, shifting the makeshift bag on his shoulder. Silco said nothing but shook his head, still showing that stubborn defiance.

“Either way he wouldn't have been able to make it on the job with us. He's helping his mom with the shop.” Felicia reminded, stopping at a ladder that led its way up outside, moving to the side, allowing Vander up it first so he could move the heavy metal barrier.

The lid made a rough screeching sound that made their teeth hurt, Silco being the most affected by the wince he made. Vander then further moved up the rickety ladder, the two soon following.

Silco took a deep breath as he made his way up, breathing in the similar air of the undercity. “Much better than their air, and that blasted sewers.” He muttered that last part with distaste.

“I dont get why you don't like their air, it's cleaner.” Felicia shook her head, her loose braid moving with it. “Just not used to it, I feel like I'm going to pass out everytime we take jobs there. I'm not used to how light it is.” He stated like it was obvious with an eye roll Felicia has all since gotten used to.

“Whatever, let's take this to the shop.” Vander said after fixing the heavy metal sewer lid back into place.

“Wait! Before we do, I had to nab these for us.” Felicia said moving to an unattended crate to sit on. The other two youths followed with a naïve curiosity. She pulled out a small plastic container. Vander let out a gasp realizing what the food inside it was while Silcos brow furrowed in confusion.

“What is it?” It was Felicia's turn to gasp and Vanders' turn to look shocked. “You never had sweets before?” The girl questioned. He shook his head. “If you haven't noticed, that's a rarity to come by down here.”

“He gets the first one.” Vander concluded like its final, Felcia nodded in agreement. Silco looked at him like he was crazy. “I never even said I wanted one! What if I get, I don't know, an allergic reaction?” He protested. Vander laughed which caused Silco to bristle, daggers being thrown in the brunettes direction.

“I doubt that's goin’ to happen.”

“But it might!”

“Just try one!” Felicia pleaded. Silco sighed. “Peer pressure is usually frowned upon, you know that?” He muttered as Felicia opened the plastic lid. Felicia giggled in response, “How do you know you’d even like it if you don't try it?” She questioned raising a brow.

“Trust me you'll love these!” Vander coaxed, the stupid boyish grin on his face that reminded Silco all too much of a puppy was made.

“You two are horrible friends.” Silco complained with no actual meaning to it as he went to grab a chocolate wrapped in some fancy wrapping. “It's for your own good.” Felicia responded like it was a fact. Another eye roll was made from the smaller boy.

Despite his resistance to trying a sweet at all, he was sure to be careful when unwrapping the chocolate as if it was as fragile as glass. He looked unsure once the sweet was revealed, he looked up to see the other two staring with him with a strange intensity.

“Is this poisoned or something? Why are you looking at me like that?” He quipped, uneasy. “Just want to know how you'd like it is all!” She responded while waving her hand. Silco huffed but took a careful bite of the bar, breaking surprisingly easily under the pressure.

His eyes went wide as he chewed and then swallowed.

“So what do you think?” Vander asked but Silco couldn't answer as he took another bite from the chocolate, causing the girl with purple hair to laugh.

“I'm assuming he likes it.” Silco nodded showing she was correct.

“If I knew they were this good I would have snatched them a long time ago.” Silco finally spoke after swallowing the second bite.

“I'm just even surprised you never had any sweets before! What are you twelve?” Silco looked at him with offense. “You and your horrible memory, I'm thirteen! A few months older than you if you recall!” He gritted out.

“Sorry! You look younger than you actually are!” Vander put his hands up in surrender. Felicia snickered when the smaller gave a light kick to the other boy's shin, not enough to cause bruising but as a soft warning. “Okay, okay! Sorry, I'll respect my elders from now on, jeez.” The brunette joked.

“Yeah you better!” Felicia laughed, her being the oldest in their ragtag group before tossing Vander the share of treats she took before grabbing her own.

“Last ones for Benzo.” She concluded, snapping the plastic lid shut before shoving it in her bag again.

“Alright let's take the haul over. Bet he’ll be happy to have more work to do.” Silco said, eating the last of his chocolate bar before stuffing the wrapper in his pants pocket.

Vander raised his brow. “You have something here.” Vander noticed a small smudge of chocolate that managed to get on the side of his lip, it sticking out against his pale skin. Silco ended up wiping the other side much to the other's frustration. “No, okay just let me get it.”

Silco batted his hands away but it was to no avail.

“No wonder why you think im younger than I am.” He grumbled in frustration after Vander managed to get the smudge. “Not my fault you can't follow simple directions.” The younger retorted.

Felicia sighed feeling another incoming bicker between the two boys as they continued the walk to Benzos family shop.
