Luna Maria

Summary:

This story is about what could’ve happened, had things been different, a series of “What-If’s” if you will. People are the same, yet different. The music resonates to those who have no path, yet it's not the song of the lost, you know. The dolls arise at the moon’s peak, yet their forms are altered, reflecting the souls' inner workings.

Welcome to the depths of Luna Maria.

Notes:

Heya! Welcome to my self-indulgent swap au about Ave Mujica and mygo! As the summary says, basically, this au is like a member/band swap au, but to make it make sense, I essentially took canon and killed it behind the Denny's. In other words, as the summary says, certain events/things that are important in characters' stories have been changed, and something else happened instead, like a butterfly effect, if you will. For example, our first character has something that you might know about them changed...anyways! Hope you enjoy, Luna Maria!

Chapter Text

It’s dark.

You try to get your bearings straight, amongst the vast darkness around you, what…was…

Buzzz buzzz… buzzz buzzz

“Here the World…..Connect….Wonderful Melody…”

Oh. It’s just the alarm. Duh. Right. First Day today…

Anon Chihaya groggily gets up from her bed and switches off her alarm. She had forgotten about her plans. Right. New day at a new school today, fun. She checked the time, 7 am. Plenty of time to get to school when it started at 8, the school was close by for once, too, which was nice.

Anon looked at her new uniform, a grey blazer matched with a tartan green matching tie and skirt, marking her as a first year at the school. She then looked in the mirror. She was somewhat small for her age, though that might be because she hadn’t done much in gym class in junior high. Her first day of High School. Right.

Ugh…why did I have to get sick during the first week of school…Now everyone’s formed groups already, and I can’t disappear into the crowd like normal…

She sighed, pulling on her uniform, grabbing her glasses, and putting a moon hairpin into her hair. Then, somewhat reluctantly, she grabbed a guitar case that rested by an amp by her sofa in her room. After putting it on over her back, she grabbed her bag, and the door closed softly.

Anon Chihaya was a…shy, unsure girl. Unlike whatever story you know, she seemed to drift away from others, knowing that if she got too close…something would occur. She was an honor student, was well-behaved, and seemed perfect for a student council role if she was open enough to let it happen. She would be a hit with others; hell, if she wanted, she could probably study abroad in Great Britain and live up to the expectations of those around her.

Unfortunately, that is not what happens in this story.

This story is what could’ve happened, had things been different, a series of “What-If’s” if you will. People are the same, yet different. The music resonates to those who have no path, yet it's not the song of the lost, you know. The dolls arise at the moon’s peak, yet their forms are altered, reflecting the souls' inner workings.

Welcome to the depths of Luna Maria.

Anon manages to find her way to her class with a teacher's help, even though it wasn’t too hard to find, since all first-year classes were on the first floor. She stood in front of her classroom, class 1-B. She double checked her student information, which the teacher gave her. Yep. This is the place, alright.

I mean…the teacher said I could just walk in…I got here early, so it's not like anyone else is around to judge me…

She slid the door open to a relatively empty classroom, there were a few people already there, but not enough to be considered an oddity yet. Just how she wanted it.

Since it was still within the time frame of teachers remembering everyone’s names, there were name tags taped to the desks to indicate who sat where, and to give the teachers a hint as to who was where. She was in the very back corner of the classroom, against the windows and far away from any attention that could come her way. Just how she liked it. She was cornered a bit, but she should be fine after a day or two. Slowly, people started to trickle in, some people drifted to small groups of people they found friends in, but there was still a decent number of people who were around and were keeping to themselves, so at least that gave her some hope.

Before the bell rang, a girl with light blue hair, with part of it tied up into an elegant set of twin tails, sat in front of her. She seemed to exude a mysterious aura, yet also seemed to exude an energy that screamed, “Don’t talk to me, leave me alone.”

Anon looked at the girl, her classmate, she seemed…similar to her in a way, someone who didn’t want to be associated with people. Maybe…she could be friends with her?

The bell rang, and their teacher walked in. She saw Anon, and then her worst nightmare occurred.

“Alright, class, I’m about to take attendance, please note Chihaya hasn’t been here due to a sickness, so please welcome her to the class.”

Suddenly, Anon was frozen. She saw her classmates turn to face her, and she honestly didn't know what to say. Just sat uncomfortably as some whispers to friends were exchanged near me. Eventually, the teacher sighed, then started to take attendance. She tried to tune it out.

“Togawa Sakiko?”

As she was tuning out, she heard the teacher call out the name of the girl in front of her…Togawa…that sounded familiar…where had she heard that name before…

After the teacher called on her, some whispers were exchanged around her.

“Isn’t that the granddaughter of…”

“I heard that…”

The teacher loudly cleared their throat, then looked up once again, continuing their attendance. Muttering to themselves, then continuing with the rest of the class.

Anon got her notebook out in the meantime, preparing for the upcoming lessons. She didn’t necessarily like school, but she was good at it, so she tried anyway. She tuned most of it out, though, getting handed worksheets by her teachers that had assigned work while she was absent. She guessed it made sense; they were about 4 days in since school had started last Wednesday, so she probably did miss a few things. Well, there was a seat empty still near the door, so she guessed she wasn’t or isn't the only one out. Yay.

Eventually, the lunch bell rang, and before she could get her bento out of her bag, some people came up to her.

“Hey! You’re Chihaya right? That’s such a cute name!”

Anon stared at them for a moment before replying, “...Thanks.”

They seemed a bit put off by her bluntness, and then their friend, who came over with them, gestured to their guitar.

“Do you play guitar? That’s so cool! Bands are all the rage nowadays, I wish I could be in one…”

Anon still stared at them. She would love to talk to these people about music, but despite her appearance, she did not want to entertain them, so back to the bluntness it is.

“...Okay.”

She went back to get her bento out of her bag. It wasn’t like she liked being blunt all the time; it just got people to leave her alone. She knew if she was popular and well-liked, it would only lead to trouble, so in the shadows she stayed. Eventually, the girls left, and she was left to her own devices.

Might as well check how that’s doing…

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Sakiko was tired. Well, for a variety of reasons, but today was more so because her classmates wouldn’t stop talking. It was annoying, not only to her but to the teachers as well. Especially since there was a student who had been absent due to sickness and came back today, and she might not have gotten crucial information due to their talking. Sakikowent straight home after school. Her piano was at home, and she wanted to practice more; she still needed to, even if…

Before her train of thought could finish, the train arrived, and she boarded the train home and sat down. It was odd, going a different way home than she was used to, but it came to her after a while.

Sighing, she pulled out her phone, checking any notifications she might have.

>LINE - 1 New Message from ‘Father’

>You might like: Article - The History and Downfall of…

>Spotify - Morfonica uploaded a new song! Check out ‘Polyphony’ now!

She sighed, clearing them. Nothing too interesting, except maybe the new Morfonica song. What other notifications were there…

>YouTube - Tokumei uploaded ‘Flame of Hope - Guitar and Vocal Cover’

That got her attention. Tokumei was a guitarist who uploaded their covers of various songs to YouTube. They originally found them covering a Morfonica song, Daylight, and checked out their other covers and had to subscribe. But they hadn’t ever uploaded a vocal cover before…they checked the description of the video before starting the video.

>Hey guys! Sorry for the late cover (>人<;), I got sick recently and couldn't mix my vocals with the music in time. I haven’t done a vocal cover before, but I wanted to give it a shot >_<…my mom told me to go for it, so here we are! I hope you all enjoy a change-up in the regular content. (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

She clicked on the video, the guitar was what she expected from Tokumei, they usually have a clean and cut tone with some chorus effects added onto it, making it sound and feel like its very presence was being etched into your soul.

Then the vocals kicked in, and wow.

Wow.

Sakiko knew that Tokumei was talented, but not this talented, their voice was a bit hesitant and unsure, yes, but it sounded…cute for lack of better words. It was a nice voice that contrasted with their guitar sound, but in a good way. It was happy, yet also had bittersweet moments in it as well. The mixing wasn’t the best in the world at times, but it was still decent for someone who didn’t specialize in that.

It didn’t necessarily fit the song, but it was still really good.

Sakiko smiled as she listened to the rest of the song, hearing Tokumei’s voice gave her an idea…

Maybe I could try composing a song again…no, no…that’s…not a good idea…

She sighed, looking out the train window, thinking about that girl who sat behind her during lunch, pondering something. Maybe…

Sakiko sighed. She would leave that to follow what fate had in mind.

Notes:

Oooooo...An Anon who wasn't in the student council...interesting!

I like the idea as someone who relates to Anon a lot of her learning eventually that if she took the leader role she would absolutely hate it beyond belief, as a similar thing happened to me (kinda), so in this universe we have our first what-if revealed, along with some sprinkles of Sakiko in here too! I wonder what happened to her...interesting...

Anon's What If - What if she wasn't in the student council in middle school?
