Chapter Text
Nothing.
What was before that nothing? Who knows, maybe God's were fighting, maybe a being of a higher dimension got bored with it's plaything so it decided to make another or maybe, just maybe, two dying lovers were making something that would not end as they did, it didn't really matter.
Then there was everything, everything was and everything will be. There is no sound in a vacuum and yet an explosion could be heard, one that could only be bested by the cacophony of the heavens, it was simply beautiful, so beautiful in fact, that if one who was not a God were to look at it they'd probably go insane. The colors of the universe... the new universe, were mixing with each other, red, green, orange, purple, blue and everything in-between, it wasn't only orange, blue and the occasional green, why would it? The Universe was united.
After everything came there also were stars, big and small, cold and hot, as fast as lightning and as swift as the winds.
These stars couldn't be any more different than each other and yet they were not afraid, be it a small yellow star or a big and incomprehensible red star as of right now everyone was equal, everything was. The stars danced, how could they not? It was a joyous occasion, life was in abundance. They danced together, laughed together, they shared the same space and that was all they needed.
After an eternity of dancing and laughing the stars calmed down, they decided that they should have names, as of right now there were 5 major Stars that seemed to be the embodiment of everything, their names? Just as incomprehensible as they were. After they named themselves they thought to bring order to the cosmos, not restrain it by any means just guide it in the right direction, each star guided it onto something else.
One guided the world into beauty, making the world as gorgeous as it could ever be.
One guided the world into prosperity, making the world abundant with resources.
One guided the world into peace, making the universe even more united than before.
One guided the world into freedom, making sure that the inhabitants of the world have their free will.
And the last one guided the world into knowledge, making sure that the world will keep growing as will it's inhabitants.
Wait wasn't there 2 more Stars? Surely not, but then again they were the Stars of love and mystery, wait weren't their names Edda and Aven?
A raspy voice came out of an old starfolk, he was sitting on a chair, his ethereal blue light shining through his triangular face, well at least what they had instead of a face, more like a star inside a head. He was hunched and had a slight smile on his face.
"Or so the story goes."
"Wait what was that last part?"
Another voice, this one much younger, it belonged to a little child, his name was Samael, he was small and had a purple glow to him, his body was consisting of shapes that weren't quite formed yet but were starting to take shape, his short hair was dark, that was the man's grandson.
"Oh you mean about the last 2 of the major Stars?"
"Yes! What's up with that last part? How do we know their names if they are supposed to be incom, indom, inhom-"
"Incomprehensible." His grandfather helped Samael.
"Yes, that! Wouldn't our minds like explode if we know their names?" Samael made a gesture with his hands going from his head and then dispersing into an explosion, it made his grandfather chuckle a little.
"Well Samael let's think about it a little" he put the book he was holding on a nearby stove, it's title was "The myth about the beginning of the Stars."
"If we can comprehend their incomprehensible names then that means..."
Samael was trying to figure out the solution to the problem, his grandfather always made him think about things, it helped Samael quite a lot in finding solutions to problems, so he almost immediately came up with a solution.
"That these aren't their real names?"
"Very good Samael." His grandfather patted him on the head, ruffling Samael's hair in the process. "You know you've been so good lately, how about I show you something cool?"
Samael's eyes widened, his heart was beating faster than ever, a wide smile could be seen on his face as he was jumping up and down around his grandfather. "Show me please!"
He chuckled at his grandson's enthusiasm, after Samael calmed down a little and took a sit his grandpa opened his hand. Samael was confused "was this it-" but before he could finish his sentence a spark came out of his grandfather's palm, that spark turned into a warm flame, it wasn't burning with intensity nor was it able to destroy things, it was warm, it was safe to touch, it was beautiful.
Samael was overjoyed.
"Grandpa you're so cool, or should I say hot? Whatever, this is awesome, how did you do it?!"
"Wouldn't you like to know you dwarf star?"
"Hey, I'm still young!"
"Hahaha, Samael really, would you like to know?"
"YES!" He tried to compose himself, knowing that his grandfather wouldn't teach him if he only shouted at him.
His grandfather smiled. "Then you shall learn tomorrow, it is far too late, go to sleep and first thing in the morning you're going to be learning magic."
Samael was a little disappointed that he had to wait 1 whole night, that was basically an eternity for a kid his age who was as excited as he was! Still he didn't cry over it. "Alright grandpa goodnight, don't forget!"
"I won't."
Samel went to his room, he sat down on his bed
Samael fell asleep.
Hope woke up, she was a small yellow star, her body illuminated in gold and her form was more structured than a usual girl her age, Hope knew what she wanted to do so she stood up from her bed in the middle of the night, the luminescent light of her body was just bright enough for her not to stumble on her petite legs, her mother was out hunting for food, well she was getting ready to.
Hope's plan was to sneak in on her mother when she went out so she could see her hunting, Hope wasn't interested in toys or reading, she wanted to be like her mother, her mother was a hunter so she would be one too, she made her way down the stairs made out of wood.
"Curse my mother's great sense of stair building, please don't sqweek now wood, please don't."
Despite Hope praying to any of the 5 major stars her prayers were not heard, her Mother though heard, Hope could see a bright red star make her way towards her.
"Hope what are you doing, it the middle of the night." Her mother was taller than Hope by a lot, her shapes were as sharp as she was, her hair was short so she wouldn't get tangled into trees or such, it was also easier to wash.
"I uhh... wanted a midnight snack?" Hope didn't even convince herself with that lie, much less the mother who had known Hope her whole life.
"You're trying to sneak out again."
"N-no... yes..." Hope looked down, ready for whatever punishment she was about to receive, but it seemed like one of the major Stars was listening to her after all.
"Okay, let's go hunting together."
"I know I shouldn't- wait what?"
"You're coming with me."
Hope was puzzled, she was bamboozled even, her stoic mother who wouldn't dare let Hope leave the perimeter of her vision was letting her daughter come to a hunt? Was she dreaming? Hope pinched herself. "Nope, this is real!" She thought.
"But why mom? I'd thought that you'd refuse me without a second thought."
Her mother kneeled down to her. "Hope, I'm not always going to be around, and you know that, right?" Hope gave a little nod. "So I think it's about time you learn how to hunt, besides it's the only thing you talk about, I wouldn't be able to live as a mother if I didn't let you express yourself."
Before her mother could say any less Hope hugged her tightly. "Thank you so much mom!"
She was surprised a little, with her instincts she could probably dodge claws and beaks, swords and magic but when it came to her daughter she was defenseless.
"Let's go, today we hunt together."
On that day 2 little stars got what they wished for.
Somewhere, out there in the night sky, on this day 2 bright stars could be seen, one blue, one orange, laughing together and embracing each other, but that's not their story.
This is the story of Samael and Hope.
